Whittonlodge is a Countryside 400 year old farm house with a Quiet South Facing Garden with Hottub , & A indoor Pool table. It has Guest accommodation for large or small groups of family and friends. We can accommodate 26 + 4 cots 30 maximum. in our 9 bedrooms all of which are en suite. Hardstoft is a little hamlet which overlooks Englands most stunning Elizabethan home Hardwick Hall that has fishing lakes, walks and pub were also local to other Derbyshire attractions. We also have a EV charging point and Super fast Broadband.

Great property!
We had a great stay! Thank you to Kim & John! The check in process was so easy. Rang the number by the front door, and Kim was there within a minute to give me a tour of the property, and show me how to use the hot tub. The house is massive! Plenty big enough for our hen weekend needs. There was more than enough seating for everyone in the lounge and the dining room. The kitchen is well stocked with pots and pans, as well as serving dishes, plates, bowls, mugs, glasses and cutlery for all! There are lots of nails in the walls to hang decorations from (suggested by Kim!) The rooms were clean and spacious. There’s storage to un pack if staying for a while. All bedrooms having an en-suite was a must for us, and this property provides that. There was plenty of hot water, and the shower pressure wasn’t bad, even with 9 people showering at the same time. A quick note for future renters, 3 of the rooms require you to go outside to get to them. It’s a literal 2 second sprint in the rain, so not too bad! Just something we didn’t realise before booking. (Would have still booked anyway!) John was always just a text away if we had any questions. The ice machine on the fridge doesn’t work, but there was a bag of ice in the freezer when we arrived. (Not sure if this was left by the hosts or previous renters, but it definitely came in handy!) The only thing we struggled with was that the WiFi didn’t really go further than the lounge. Other than that, we have no complaints!

Amazing Property
Amazing weekend. Kim gave us a very warm welcome after a much longer journey than expected and even took out Tesco delivery in. She explained very clearly where everything was and the rules ( only a few). The house is fantastic for a large group who all want to eat together and sit in the lounge together. The facilities were fantastic and they have thought of everything. Plenty of crockery, fridges, glasses and seating for our party of 24 if various ages from 1 to 64. The pool table was a massive hit with our group.

Perfect for a big family get together
Lovely house with everything we needed for a big family get together with grandparents, parents and children (teenagers and younger). John and Kim were very friendly and welcoming and replied very quickly to queries before we arrived. The beds were comfortable and everything was very clean. The layout meant there was lots of flexibility too - there was a big living room with pool table plus a smaller snug for PlayStation, DVD or just relaxing in a smaller group. The two kitchens gave flexibility for food prep and the table in the kitchen meant a few people could eat quietly there if they wanted to. Picnic tables and sun loungers meant adults could sit and relax in the garden while chatting to others in the hot tub. Very quick and easy to find from the M1, but no road noise. Lots of lovely walks and scenery nearby.

We purchased a 5 bed / bath home in august 2003 We decided when our children left to change the use for B&B and Guest accommodation we extended and built a separate property to live in ourselves and after 10 years of B&B we decided to try The holiday rental market for weekends to give us some time off. We now mix the two when its not asked for as a holiday let for the Week or Weekend we open it up for B&B. We have installed a Ground Source Heat Pump ,Low led lighting , water saving shower heads , Taken on recycling contract bins. Solar exterior lighting.in a bid to cut our carbon foot print.

Why they chose this property

Whitton Lodge has a lot to offer anyone visiting the quiet Chesterfield countryside; the holiday home features three kitchen areas, nine en-suite double rooms and sleeps a total of twenty-six.
However, whilst all that space offers plenty of room for holidaymakers, it has long led to huge energy bills for its owners. John Powell, who lives with his family in a 3-bed bungalow on site, decided to tackle this downfall by switching away from direct electric. His search began for a renewable energy heating system.
The Solution
Owner John Powell quickly discovered NIBE Energy Systems upon his search for low carbon heating options. With plenty of garden space surrounding the property, a single Ground Source Heat Pump was established as an ideal solution for heating both the lodge and the bungalow.
Newark-based heat pump specialists, Trusted Energy Solutions, took care of the installation and chose a powerful 40 kW F1345 Ground Source Heat Pump to meet the total annual heat demand (110,021 kWh) the large property requires.
This was installed and connected to 2500 linear meters of ground collector pipe on the land surrounding the property. Underfloor heating and new radiators were also installed to increase efficiency and maximise comfort and warmth.
The Results
Trusted Energy Solutions were able to complete the installation in just two weeks during July 2020. The Powells are already enjoying the benefits of a comfortable living
environment and saving a significant amount on their energy bills at over £7,000 a year
