Please note: The property has a natural water supply from a borehole. Access to the property is via a rough track.. In the far north of Scotland alongside the meandering River Halladale, you will find the inviting and aptly named Riverside Cottage. Perched above the river in the middle reaches of its course, Riverside Cottage is the ideal place for those looking for outstanding fly fishing and a very special Highland holiday base. It has so much going for it, we urge you to pause and click book now to line up an excellent holiday in the Northern Highlands.
Entering the property from the enclosed wrap-around garden you have a very useful boot and coat room, ideal for getting off the fishing/hiking/biking/surfing gear. The accommodation consists of three bedrooms, one twin with en-suite shower room, another twin and a single. There’s a bathroom with bath and separate shower cubicle. The living room is a great room with wood burning stove and large Smart TV. The kitchen/dining room has recently been modernised to an excellent standard and is a great place to come together at the end of an exciting day to swap notes and stories over a hearty meal.
Outside the property there is also a utility room with chest freezer and tumble dryer that also doubles as a cycling/surfing storage area for those needing it. On the doorstep, The Forsinard Flyfishers’ Club draws those in the know to the area. Fabulous trout fishing that now offers truly excellent value for money for those wanting to fish. It’s also a brilliant, perhaps unrivalled place to learn how to fly fish. The club has access to nearly 50 lochs across thousands of acres surrounding Riverside Cottage, where you can fly-fish with membership of the club. Amazingly membership is £40 for adults a year, senior citizens are half price and children under 18 are free. Truly amazing value for some of the best fly-fishing you can find anywhere. When availability allows, salmon fishing on the river Halladale can be arranged at extra cost. There’s fantastic hiking, mountain biking and bird watching right from the doorstep. The RSPB Forsinard Estate surrounds the property and has some amazing bird species to spot year round. Just over 10 miles down river near to the mouth of the Halladale you will find Melvich Beach, one of the best surfing beaches in Scotland. Melvich Beach is on the North Coast 500 touring route, so from River Cottage you can be on this well-known drive and exploring many amazing places with ease and at will. But to be honest once you arrive at River Cottage it’s pretty difficult to leave or stray far away, unless it’s with a rod in hand or surfboard under your arm! The cottage itself is all on one level and enjoys views out across this fabulous, wild environment.
