Barrow in Furness is an industrial town with easy access to the Lake District.
Barrow-in-Furness has a variety of shops, pubs, restaurants, theatre, and a cinema but is probably best known for its docks which build submarines for the Royal Navy, more details of the Docks historic past can be uncovered at the nearby Dock Museum.
A 15-minute drive and you arrive in the charming market town of Ulverston with its cobbled streets, superb selection of independent shops, pubs, and restaurants. Ulverston also enjoys a variety of festivals throughout the year meaning there is always something to entertain the entire family. If you are looking for family fun there is the local, South Lakes Safari zoo or perhaps you’d prefer to visit the ruins of Furness Abbey.
Barrow-in-Furness is a great base from which to explore the Lake District and has some of the most famous attractions such as Windermere within 35 minutes’ drive.
There is also great access to the railway, which is 3 minutes’ walk away, another great way to explore the Lakes. Beach 4½ miles. Pub and restaurant ½ mile.
