Beautifully restored farmhouse in the centre of a mountain biking paradise

We fell in love with this quiet corner of Catalunya in the foothills of the Pyrenees and moved out in 2014. As a family we’ve rebuilt the old farm buildings at our base in the sleepy little village of Vilamitjana; all the while getting to know the area and the people who live here.

We live on-site in a separate apartment (with our cat) so are on-hand to help with any problems or questions.

The farmhouse retains original features but provides contemporary, comfortable, well-appointed, non-smoking accommodation for up to ten people, with free WiFi.

The spacious bedrooms (two family rooms and two twin/doubles) are individually furnished with large stylish en-suite bathrooms with powerful showers (plus a bath in one family room). The solid stone walls keep the rooms cool in Summer and under-floor heating makes them cosy in the colder months. 100% cotton bedlinen, large towels, toiletries and a hairdryer are all provided. There are useful little extras, like USB charging points, swimming towels, and a laundry room with washing machine and dryer.

The whole top floor of the main barn is a high-ceilinged open-plan living space, dedicated to cooking, eating and quiet relaxing. The well-equipped kitchen has an oven, microwave, dishwasher, large fridge/freezer, drinks fridge and ample storage. There is comfortable seating for ten, both at the dining table and in the lounge.

The cool cellar games room is equipped with a large TV, table football, toys, games, books and DVDs suitable for all ages.

Outside, we have a safe, enclosed garden away from busy roads with seating for both dining and relaxing. There is a wood-fired oven for cooking pizzas and other food. The garden has a sandpit, tepee, badminton net, basketball hoop, football goal and other outdoor games, plus a water play area. A short cycle or pleasant stroll away there are tennis courts, a skate park, football pitches and an open-air swimming pool.

If you are bringing very small children we can provide a cot, high chair and push chair at no extra cost.

We are in the heart of Vilamitjana, a medieval village in an outstanding location in the Spanish Pyrenees, recently chosen as one of the world’s Top 100 Sustainable Destinations by the Good Travel Guide.

The area offers a huge range of activities for all ages and interests, from the adrenaline rush of mountain biking, canyoning and rafting, through wild swimming in mountain lakes and rivers, to hunting for dinosaur footprints and exploring ancient castles.

This is real rural Spain, the area is almost undiscovered by tourists yet to find its snowy peaks, clear mountain lakes, stunning scenery and rich culture. We invite you to come and share it with us.
