Brilliant for 3 generations of family plus friends
We absolutely loved our stay. The house is really special, beautifully appointed and quirky with the tower. The garden is also lovely and very spacious. We had a really mix of eating in and out, cooking BBQs and all worked well.
Wonderful stay. The house has everything you need and more Plenty of games to play. Fully stocked kitchen which I appreciated as chief cook. There was 9 adults and 3 children and we had lots of space We joined Craigendarroch (40 for a week) which have you access to all the facilities tooWould love to return for another stay

8 of us had a wonderful stay. The property is in a fantastic location for mountain biking.
We would have liked access to a hose pipe to wash the bikes but that’s just a little niggle!

Hi Clare
Thank you for taking the time to review Glenbardie House. I realise that this is a little bit late, but I wanted you to know that an outside tap is being installed this year, thanks to your comment.
Best regards, Angela
Thank you to Reesha for all your helpful information about the Ballater area. We had some wonderful adventures made even better by coming back to such an amazing country manor. Glenbardie House provided space for everyone to either get together or have some quiet time!!

Dear Patti
Thank you for choosing Glenbardie House for your Scottish visit, and for your positive review.
It was a long way for you all to come and we are extremely happy that you had a wonderful holiday on Deeside. Reesha was only to happy to help and enjoyed your visit, too.
Best wishes
Angela
We had a great stay at Glenbardie House - our first trip since the pandemic began, and a chance to come home and see family. The house is a beautiful old Victorian home just 100 meters from the town center. Lots of room, and a joy to have a real fire in the evenings. We enjoyed coffee and shopping in town, along with the occasional pint in the Balmoral Bar., trips to Braemar, Aboyne, Banchory, Stonehaven, and Aberdeen. Would definitely recommend and will return if the opportunity presents. Many Thanks, Angela and Reesha!

Thank you for the lovely review. We are so happy you had a great stay and we look forward to welcoming you back one day...
The property was fantastic. Plenty of room for all 11 of us, 6 adults and 5 children.
Pool room was a bonus. Proximity to the town and walks was ideal. We loved Ballater, the cafes were welcoming and the people very friendly.
We used the local butchers for our Christmas Dinner, after all if it’s good enough for the Queen!
We made use of the riverside walks and the viewpoint walks. Balmoral was closed to the public so we couldn’t visit. However we did drive 20mins to Letch where we managed to ski on the training slopes and sledge, it was fun.
The dining room was great for a large group. An Indian, Chinese and fish and chip shop within walking distance, all very good.
The fire in the living room was lovely, with plenty of coal and wood for our stay.
The only negatives were that the oven didn’t quite work very well, so we couldn’t do the type of cooking we wanted to, but with the good food in the town, it didn’t detract from the great week. Also there wasn’t always hot water and we had to do a bit of a shower rota, but again this wouldn’t put us off from booking again. If these could be put right we would say it was the most perfect stay.
Overall we had a fantastic time, 3 families, lots of room, plenty of relaxing time, just what we all needed. The property was really clean and tidy and the communication was faultless.
Wonderful!

Hi Tina. We really appreciated your personal message at the end of your stay and your review as they highlighted two issues we knew nothing about. Thankfully, they both took no time at all to fix. We look forward to welcoming you back to Glenbardie House in the future. Angela
We had a fantastic time staying at Glenbardie. Accommodation was great for the whole family with ensuites and space thar suited three generations. Location was fantastic, close to lovely shops and lots of fantastic walks. Even the rain couldn't dampen our spirits. Only downside for us was not having a secure fence around the whole property to let the dogs run free.
Susan and her team were very friendly. Would recommend and hope to return.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house is spacious and comfortable. It was set in a lovely private garden, in a beautiful setting. The kitchen was extremely well equipped. And all bedrooms were a very good size. We had a relaxing stay and were lucky to have great weather too. What a wonderful treasure to find. Thank you so much.

Thank you for your review. We are so pleased to read that you all enjoyed your stay at Glenbardie House.
The whole family loved Glenbardie House and Ballater too. The children loved the tower and the red squirrels in the garden. Some items need updating but well equipped and comfortable house.

Hi Margaret
Thank you for your lovely review. The tower is usually a big hit with the children and of course, seeing a red squirrel, is always very special.
We were interested to read that you felt that some items need updating. Would you mind letting us know of which ones and we will make a plan to update them?
Regards. Angela
We stayed at Glenbardie for two weeks. The house was perfect for the twelve of us. There was plenty of room for privacy if needed, but great places for the whole group. We were all able to sit around the round table for meals and have wonderful discussions. Ballater was very welcoming and had all the shopping we needed for food, souvenirs and beer. Thank you, Angela for providing a place for that "Large American Family", as we were labeled by a local. We loved our time in Scotland!

Glenbardie House
A comfortable house which met the needs of our group of 11 well. The large round dining table was perfect for communal dining each evening. The one thing that seemed to be lacking for hillwalkers was a drying room, but the weather was good enough for this not to be a problem, as up on the hills we had snow showers rather than rain.

Lovely place
we were a large group of friends using this location to walk Munros in the the area, it was perfect for us. Within Ballater itself and close to all amenities it couldn’t be better. The house is quite old but it had everything we needed for a very comfortable, enjoyable week including Sky Sports which went down well with an all male group!

Great Stay at Glenbardie House
Our stay for the week for my mum's 80th birthday was absolutely fantastic the best house we have stayed in so far. The extra bathrooms and shower rooms were perfect so there were no queues at all for the 12 of us. The house is very clean and cosy for a house so large and the scenery is just beautiful. We plan to go back in a few years time for the next family get together and cannot recommend this house enough.

Perfect holiday!!
We came to stay at Glenbardie from California; there were 4 adults and 5 kids (ages 6-11), and it was the PERFECT house. Clean, plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms, laundry, amazing kitchen, lots of space for everyone, and perfectly situated to walk into town for groceries, coffee, and delicious meals. We went hiking, horseback riding, castle hopping, cake-eating and much, much more. The caretaker was absolutely lovely, the owners are responsive and generous. We hope to come back again to Glenbardie, it was a dream vacation in Scotland!!

This really is 5 star
This lovely house - and helpful owner - rescued our holiday. Having found ourselves in a dreadful place in Huntly, Angela pulled out the stops to get the house ready for us at a couple of hours notice. When we arrived, late in the evening, after a very trying experience, we were thrilled. The house was warm comfortable and clean. There was everything we needed and more. Amazing huge dining table that our whole family could sit at, lovely cosy living room, with comfy seats for all . . . and a log fire. With a mixed group, ages from 2 to 85, everyone was happy. The pool table was well used all week with a pool league organised. Bedrooms all lovely with nice bedding and plenty of ensuites. The downstairs twin was great for Grannie! The house is in easy walking distance from the town, which has plenty to offer in the way of shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. We were so sorry to have to leave this luxurious but homely house and would certainly recommend it to everyone.

Glenbardie house
Just returned after a fantastic couple of days in Ballater. The house was fantastic and more than catered for all of our needs!
Lovely large rooms, nicely furnished and the house was kitted out with everything that anyone could possibly need. Added to that the wonderful scenery and close access to the centre of the village.
A perfect place to stay and look forward to returning in the future.
Thanks from us all!

Where to stay at any time of year!
We stayed in Glenbardie House for a week at New Year 2014. As a group of 8 friends we have been renting properties in the Highlands at that time for several years and, though the others were of an excellent standard, this is the first one that we are returning to!
Both the owner, prior to arrival, and the housekeeper thereafter were friendly and helpful and the house was a comfortable, warm and dry haven during what was sadly a very wet week. The kitchen is especially well equipped and the food shopping in Ballater is really good. As a party of eight each couple had an ensuite bedroom which was great. The pool table provided a popular diversion on wet afternoons!
As said in a previous review of The Bothy, the location is excellent with many places to visit and great walks on the doorstep. We're returning at the same time this year to enjoy the many walks and areas we didn't see and look forward to relaxing again in front of a roaring fire at the end of the day!
