North London is a very spread out part of the city that offers a lot of diverse neighbourhoods to live in. As far as local markets and areas to shop for anything from groceries to new additions to the wardrobe go; Hackney is one of the best areas in London to have as your local market.
Hackney is a very lively neighbourhood to live in and explore on the weekends but that doesn’t mean there aren’t more peaceful parts to explore. You can walk down or up the river at Hackney Marsh and be surrounded by beautiful waterways and marshland for miles. Head further south towards Hackney Wick and you will come across an amazing former industrial yard that now hosts pop-up restaurants, bars and art and music shows. One of the best spots in North London to spend the evening in!
Wondering down to London Fields or Victoria Park is a great idea for anyone wanting to find a good place to exercise locally. Victoria Park is a very big and open green space which is ideal for running or relaxing during the summer. London Fields Lido is a fantastic local swimming spot for any active swimmers thinking of moving to North London and needing a good local pool!
Hackney Central is the main Overground station closest to the apartments for faster travel around the city. The fastest connection to the city centre is travelling West on The overground to Highbury & Islington to change to the Victoria line, London’s fastest underground service.
Standard railway connections (including trains to airports) are best made travelling south on the Overground to Stratford international, for faster train connections across London. Good bus services are running through Hackney throughout the day into the city centre along with a night bus (N242) that offers at least one alternative to taking a cab home after a few late drinks in the city centre!
For anyone wishing to drive into the centre of London, Hackney is outside the congestion charge zone but you will have to pay the daily charge of £15 per day, to drive into the more central areas such as Westminster.
