Grizzly Rose guest Cottage is situated on 35 acres at the property known as Ravensnest. Grizzly Rose Guest Cottage consists of two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a full kitchen dining area and a wraparound veranda. Grizzly Rose guest cottage does not have a formal living room. Each bedroom consists of a queen-size bed, a small sitting area with TV/Dish satellite. There is private parking and numerous patios and verandas for outdoor seating.

Deer Haven Guest Cottage (VRBO 431820) consists of two bedrooms, the master suite has a queen size bed and a walk out patio, the guest bedroom has a queen size bed, one bathroom and a fully stocked kitchen/dining room with a living room and dish network. It is approximately 1300 sq ft. A roll a way bed is also available. The cottages are surrounded by gardens, a shrine and a reflecting pond.


There is hiking and walking on the property as well as adjacent BLM land. We are located on the backside of Mesa Verde in the valley facing the Ute Mountain Ute Mountain. Their are two medicine wheels on the property as well as a Tipi for your own spiritual retreat. The property consists of numerous gazing ponds and koi ponds. There is also a hammock arbor and the sky gazing lounge where one can be mesmerized by the galaxy.

Ravensnest and the Grizzly Rose guest Cottage is a place to relax, expand and be at peace.

The sky lounge sits in the back behind the medicine wheel. A place to lay and watch our magnificent night sky. Three twin beds and a bin with pillows and blankets are there for your convenience. A place to connect with the Galaxy. Envelope yourself with the milky way, falling stars and moving objects.

The property is beautiful and so peaceful. My om and I stayed for a few days and loved the clean space, outdoor spaces and the owner, Michelle. She was so kind and responsive. My mom and I have traveled extensively in remote areas and she wants us to come back. We will be definitely be doing that.

Fantastic Property, Gracious Host

This property was absolutely gorgeous! Nestled along a tree-filled gulch, filled with flowers and a flowing stream, it was most relaxing. In the evening, the stars were spectacular. Sunrise and sunset were breathtaking. The interior was clean, comfortable, and cozy, and the kitchen was well stocked. Michelle was so gracious! We came back!

This is our second stay at Ravensnest. Michelle is an excellent host. The Grizzly Roadhouse was less roomy than we hoped, but met our needs for two bedrooms and two bathrooms. If travelers can do with a single bathroom, the larger cottage (Deerhaven) has more room to spread out comfortably. Both have whimsy.

Deerhaven guest Cottage, Grizzly Rose guest Cottage and the Bears Den studio apartment are located at Ravensnest. The property was originally owned by my parents and is considered our home place. I purchased it in 1989 from my parents and I have created an incredible Spirit of place. My parents both worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs and dedicated their lives to working on Native Reservations. They were both detailed to Mescalero Apache Reservation. The home was vacant and decided to purchase and created my incredible space. I have dedicated 30 years working in the Arctic Circle helping to provide dental services to the Native Children. I am honored and humbled by my work and am profoundly greatful for the that opportunity.

Why they chose this property

Ravensnest is situated between the backside of Mesa Verde and the front view of the Sleeping Ute Mountain in the valley south of Cortez. Panoramic views of the entire Valley can be seen on the property. Magical sunsets and superb stargazing can be seen while enjoying your spiritual retreat.

Ravensnest has a labyrinth, a traditional medicine wheel, and a ceremonial tipi. There is a shrine, reflecting ponds, koi ponds and peace gardens to connect to the universe.
