Sea-view house with 360° rooftop in an olive grove — 2 hrs from Athens
Two hours from Athens, ten minutes from the sea, a world away. The White House is our family's sea-view home in the olive groves of Ambelos, above Akrata on the Gulf of Corinth — three floors of light, built for the view.
THE HOUSE The top floor is the master: king bed, windows on all sides, a small balcony, and an external spiral staircase to the roof terrace, where the view runs 360° — sea in front, the Chelmos mountains behind. The middle floor is the heart of the house: a fully equipped kitchen and dining room opening onto the big sea-view terrace, plus an outdoor oven. The ground floor holds the second bedroom (small double + bunk — best for children and lighter adults) and the bathroom with washing machine. Sleeps 6 plus a baby; cot available. It's a vertical house — wonderful for the able-footed, worth knowing if stairs are hard.
OUTSIDE It's all yours: the terraces and rooftop, the garden, BBQ, covered free parking — and the olive grove around the house, 150 trees of it. Walk it, picnic under it, let the kids roam.
THE PLACE Akrata's beaches are 2.5 km below (do your shopping on the way up). Lake Tsivlou and the fir forests are up the mountain road; the historic rack railway and Kalavryta's ski centre about an hour; the ancient theatre of Aigeira just along the coast — this shoreline appears in Homer. Open all four seasons: spring wildflowers, summer sea, autumn olive harvest, winter snow on the peaks while the coast stays mild.

Perfect spot for a quiet stay away from the crowds!
We LOVED our stay here. The host was quick to answer questions, the house was clean and comfortable, and the view was incredible! We enjoyed a quiet evening on the patio looking at the Gulf of Corinth and listening to wildlife. Just a 5-minute drive to town for anything you need. Wish we had stayed longer!
Truly one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever stayed! Irene is incredibly kind, communicative, and understanding. Anyone looking to escape the bustle of Athens would be lucky to stay in this quiet oasis in the hills! A little retreat for yoga was perfect in the morning. Looking forward to our next stay, and bringing friends!

About the host
Hosted by Irena
We're a family, and this hillside is our family's home — the olive groves of Ambelos have been ours for generations, and the houses we host in are family houses, not investments. Irena looks after you: everything you need arrives before you do, your key is waiting in the door, if you need anything don't hesitate to send us a message and we will be there.
Why they chose this property
We didn't choose it — it chose us, generations back. But we've stayed for reasons any guest can taste in a day: the Gulf of Corinth below, Chelmos and its fir forests behind, beaches ten minutes one way and an alpine lake up the road the other. This shoreline is in Homer; the theatre at Aigeira has watched the same sea for over two thousand years. It's peace and nature — with three millennia of stories underneath.
What makes this property unique
The view — 360° from the rooftop, sea in front, mountains behind — and the working olive grove of 150 trees that both houses stand in. This isn't a villa complex; it's a family hillside where the harvest still happens every autumn, ten minutes from the beach and two hours from Athens. Splendid views, yes — but views many places have. A view from inside a family's story is rarer.
