You have a beautiful home. Thanks for sharing. We love Venice Island and this was a great location for the beach and all else the island offers. Would definitely stay again.
Everything about the house was great- the beds, bathrooms, kitchen, backyard, location and cleanliness; except, the couches were not very comfortable. The keyless entry and amenities - appliances, 2 bicycles, washer/dryer, gas grill, patio furniture, etc made the property even more welcoming! Highly recommend this house!!
This house was in a fantastic location to walk or ride bikes to downtown Venice or to the beach. It was very comfortable for 4 adults and offered a cute backyard to enjoy sitting outside.
The owners are very kind and so easy and prompt to communicate with. It was a wonderful vacation!
Our stay was delayed due to Hurricane Milton. The property was affected, as was all of Venice Island, by the intense winds which caused much damage to trees and landscaping. The inside, however, was cozy and clean. The neighborhood is friendly. We enjoyed our stay very much.
Great home in a great location... with all of the essentials, from very comfy beds, gas grill, bicycles, beach chairs, laundry access, to a well equipped kitchen. This place is well within walking distance of the Beach and downtown. We are ready to book again for next year.

Clean and comfortable
Had a great time . Property well managed and comfortable. Close to everything we wanted to do. Beaches, tiki bars, shopping. It couldn’t have been better for us .
We so enjoyed our stay at this property. So cute, so clean. Had everything one would need for an extended stay. We reached out to the hosts a few times and they always responded quickly. It's a great location-close to all the Venice restaurants. It really is a great place!
Great location on the island of Venice. Enjoyed walking to downtown shopping and wine/coffee on Venice Ave. Convenient access to Casperson Beach or Venice Beach by car or bike. Appreciated the fenced in back yard for our dog. Thank you!
The Venice Island Cottage was exactly as described. The home was clean and comfortable, set back from the street for a more private feel. The location was perfect, we were about a mile and a half to either beach, Venice or Sharky’s.
Venice is our favorite spot to be and this house was a perfect location to all of our favorite spots.
The only downfall, Venice isn’t the hidden gem it used to be. Word has gotten out about how fantastic it really is.

Old time Venice at it's finest
Wonderful little house. Absolutely everything you could want or need right there. Fun interior. It was the perfect Venice location. After many years of coming to this area visiting my parents, it was nice to come back and see old friends and make some new ones. Hopefully, we'll be back.
Overall this is a wonderful and quaint cottage in a very nice neighborhood. Very close to downtown shops and restaurants. Great walking and biking neighborhood. Home was well set back off the road which made for a very quiet location.
The only thing we missed - which we were fully aware of - is having a screened enclosure to enjoy our mornings/evenings without being pestered by bugs. But the inside was very comfortable; kitchen provided all the necessary equipment and bedrooms were good sized.

Delightful Home on Venice Island
This home on San Marco Drive in Venice (on the island) sits back off the road for added privacy and neighborhood perspective. It's a recently renovated two bedroom - two bath home with all the modern amenities. Furnishings and décor are eclectic and it's just a fun place to spend some vacation time. The location is great, especially if you like to walk the neighborhoods of the Island, walk to the beaches or to the center of town. All major services are within minutes and restaurants abound. We found the owners very responsive to several questions and one minor plumbing issue we had with a clogged disposal. We recommend this property without reservation!! It was a great place to escape our New England winter!
We just moved to Venice and stayed at Laura and James' cozy home while searching for our own house in the area. This house was the perfect home base - it had everything we needed and the location is unbeatable!
The house is a comfortable 2-bed, 2-bath home with a sunroom we could use as a home office. It's a very quiet space with a fully fenced-in backyard that was perfect for our dog.
If you enjoy walking, this home is perfect. It's possible to stay here car-free, as there is so much you can access on foot. The supermarket and pharmacy were about a 10-minute walk, and if you need it, the hospital and many medical offices are within easy walking distance. Downtown Venice is just under a mile away, and Venice Beach is about 1.5 miles by foot if you take the 'scenic' route. The scenic route is gorgeous - you can walk to town through a series of parks and a botanical garden, and from downtown Venice you can stroll to the beach under a canopy of banyan trees. It's a truly gorgeous walk from the house to the beach with plenty to see and do along the way, including the Venice Museum, the library, and Venice Art Center which are all a short distance from your door. It's also a short drive to many other sights and beaches, and there are plenty of options nearby when it comes to shopping or dining.
Laura and James are great hosts. We highly recommend their lovely home, and if you're lucky enough to stay here, be sure to take a stroll up Nassau Street and its gorgeous parks.
We were displaced by Hurricane Ian and could not find a rental near FtMyers
But as soon as I inquired about this house the owners responded immediately and were very understanding. We have 2 dogs and needed a safe good neighborhood while they gutted our house. We had enjoyed the beaches and area of Venice before but never stayed there . It was completely gorgeous and restful. There was a perfect “reading” chair where I read with my lab every night.
The neighbors are friendly and everyone is out walking and exercising which I love!
Thank you for helping us get back to a better frame of mind so we can now deal with rebuilding my home of 22 years !
This home is in a great location and great neighborhood. It’s comfortable and quiet. The hosts went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay.
This home is located just minutes from the areas most beautiful beaches, you can actually walk there in a short time. You are also close enough to walk to Venice Avenue which is full of shops and dinning. We stayed here for 3 months and loved every second of it. The owners are wonderful and respond very quickly if you need anything.
Really enjoyed staying in the heart of Venice island. The home was well outfitted and very clean. Great to ride bikes to the beach and to shops and eat on Venice Ave.
We really enjoyed our stay at Jim and Laura's property. The property was incredibly clean when we arrived and we found the house very well equipped with just about everything we needed for our meals and to keep the house tidy. There was a also a nice storage shed for securely storing our (expensive) bicycles. When we did need to communicate with the owners we always received prompt, friendly and helpful replies. But best of all was the location which gave us easy access to downtown Venice, beaches and just great places to walk our dogs. It was also easy to access the Venetian Waterway and Legacy bike trails. We hope to be able to stay here in the future. Thanks again to Jim and Laura for allowing us to enjoy their lovely house.
We loved staying here. We took our ebikes with us and were delighted to find this area is 1 of the top bike friendly locations in the U. S. We could ride or walk to many small parks, beaches, shopping! The house had comfortable furniture and nice king bed. We will be back!
This residence lived up to its billing in every respect and at a reasonable price. We'll be back!

About the host
Hosted by James and Laura Wilson
James and I believe in experiences and spend as much as time possible travelling to get out of the cold Michigan weather. After travelling to the island of Venice a decade ago to visit his parents we decided this was a special place and we wanted to spend more time here. Once a year turned to twice a year and after coming down 6 times in 12 months we realized it was time to establish a future. This is our retirement home, and we are both thrilled and honored to share it with you because we have a few years to contribute before we call it quits and move down for good! There are many, many amazing places to travel but we have never felt as much at home than Venice. We hope you love it as much as we do! Laura and James
