Enjoying uninterrupted, open views across the stunning countryside of Arkengarthdale near Reeth, Mae Cottage is a traditional Yorkshire stone-built semi-detached property. Located in the northernmost of the Yorkshire Dales, the pretty valley this hideaway is set within is famed for starring as the backdrop to many scenes in James Herriot's, All Creatures Great and Small.
Perfect for friends and family to enjoy a getaway in a peaceful and tranquil setting, this cottage has been beautifully restored to a high standard, offering up to six guests an elevated level of comfort. Oak floors and beams exude a feeling of calm and relaxation. In the spacious sitting room, a wood burning stove set within an inglenook fireplace invites you to curl up and enjoy cosy quality time with those closest to you. From the sitting room, a charming dining room comfortably seats six guests. Seven steps lead down into the well-equipped farmhouse style kitchen, featuring a range cooker. A utility room with WC is ideal for muddy boots or paws, and drying out walking gear.
Three delightful bedrooms (two king-size beds and a single) are presented over the first and second floors. Each benefitting from stunning views and sumptuous soft furnishings, there's no better spot to enjoy a morning Yorkshire brew in bed. Better still, sink into a hot bath in the family bathroom to relax tired muscles after a day spent exploring one of the many dales and villages in the surrounding area.
Outside to the rear is a private courtyard garden where you can enjoy al fresco dining during the warmer months. Catch the last of the evening sun in the small front garden whilst watching the sheep graze in the field across the road. Mae Cottage truly is the perfect destination for walking, cycling, or just unwinding and watching the world go by. Leave the car behind and wander along to the 18th Century inn just along the road.
