We were a group of three families (plus a dog) and the house and gardens were phenomenal. The kitchen and the secret garden were our main areas for convening. All facilities were great, and as an avid cook, the kitchen set up and equipment was top notch.

Very welcoming and we were so grateful for the home-made bread , butter , milk and eggs. Lovely and spacious lodings away from the hustle and bustle of York . Would highly recommend

Bedrooms and bathrooms clean and nice. Lounge bit scruffy.Kitchen was filthy. Cupboards had been painted and paint was still wet. Freezer drawers all broken. Drawers not clean and oven was filthy.Sham as the 3rd floor was very nice with bathroom facilities all good.

This is a 19th century house so will be different from a new build but that's its character and why guests book and love their stays with the large, private walled garden too. We aim for the highest standard of cleanliness at all times. I suppose we might have equally been criticised for not painting the original kitchen cupboards!
