About this property

Charming stone house on the borders of Provence and moments from Uzes

Enjoy village country life with easy access to Uzès, the Pont du Gard, Nîmes, and Avignon.

In the heart of St Hippolyte de Montaigu, the house is surrounded by vineyards, fields and a wooded hill. Nearby are rivers for swimming or canoeing, plus a large public outdoor pool with parking.

Just 6 km away, Uzès is a beautiful medieval town with cobbled streets and a lively weekly market full of local produce and Provençal charm.

Our house is spacious, with generously sized bedrooms and a large open-plan living area that opens onto a sunny terrace. There are two bathrooms, including one en-suite.

The house is in the heart of the old village, on the main road through the village, so there is passing traffic during the day, but it becomes quiet at night.

The third bedroom opens onto the upstairs terrace and is separate from the main part of the house. It’s a lovely room in spring, summer and autumn, generally comfortable through to around November, but better suited to milder weather than the depths of winter.

As we use the house ourselves, we maintain it to a high standard and make it as comfortable as possible, with a well-stocked kitchen and a large stove and oven.

Our co-host Sylvie is fantastic and ensures the house is always beautifully cared for. You can contact her directly if you’d like additional cleaning during your stay.

For comfort, the main living area and master bedroom have air conditioning, with electric radiators throughout the house.

We include €250 of electricity per month in the rental. If your usage exceeds this, we kindly ask for a contribution. Similarly, if the house is left excessively dirty and additional cleaning or laundry costs are incurred (over €200), we’ll ask for a contribution to cover the extra.

About the host

Host profile image
I’m a working mother and practice Systematic Kinesiology in London. I love complementary medicine, yoga, cooking, films, and reading, as well as looking after my family and our beloved cats. We spend our summers in the south of France, enjoying the countryside and picnics by the river with friends.

Why they chose this property

I’ve spent every summer in Saint-Hippolyte-de-Montaigu, learning to swim in the Gardon and at the local Uzès pool. We still try to get to the rivers as often as possible, as we prefer them to swimming pools. Walking through the beautiful countryside always heals my soul, and wandering the cobbled streets of Uzès is one of my favourite pastimes.

What makes this property unique

I’ve spent every summer here since childhood, and this house has been in my family for over 50 years. We love it deeply, and take care to make it welcoming and comfortable for our guests. Nestled in a charming village with rivers, countryside walks, and a local swimming pool nearby, it’s a peaceful, character-filled retreat.
