Rustic Farmhouse near Brenham/College Station
This charming farmhouse is located on a 364 acre working cattle ranch in the rolling hills of Central Texas. The house is surrounded by hundred year old oak trees, and is 100 yards away from a 7 acre lake teeming with fish. Deer are everywhere. Stroll through paths in the woods, fish, relax on the front porch, sit around a camp fire and look at the stars, enjoy communing with nature.
Visit the barn with the owner and meet our horses, 3 goats named Luke and Francis and our newest arrival Baby Panic, and a precocious mini-donkey named Penny.
Old Oaks Ranch is 15 miles from Brenham, home to Blue Bell Ice Cream and lots of great antique shops; 12 miles from Washington-On-The-Brazos, the birthplace of Texas; and 4 miles from historic Independence and the Antique Rose Emporium.

Perfect rural location between Lake Somerville State Park and Texas Renaissance Festival. We enjoyed grilling dinner under night starry sky serenaded by yelps of distant coyotes and cow moos. It was quiet and relaxing...we enjoyed our stay.
The country experience was great. Quiet, peaceful and lots of property to traverse, a great pond to navigate and animals to visit. The hostess was wonderful. Space heaters took the chill off in the house as we were there at the end of December. We recommend it for families.
This rustic home has plenty of space surrounding it so you have peace and privacy. Gorgeous trees all around. Cows are out and about in view from the porch. Kind host even let us meet the other animals.
Cute and small house on a ranch. Lucy was such a wonderful host. Super responsive and she also allowed us to come meet her horses, goats and dogs. This is a ranch where the cattle roam freely and we woke up each morning with cattle walking about 50 feet away and we loved it. It was peaceful and quiet with only the sound of animals. About 25 minutes from Brenham and about 45 minutes from College Station. We will look to book again when in the area.
Two longtime friends and I Spent two nights and three days at the Old Oaks Ranch 15 miles from Brenham, Texas. The house was a great choice so that each of us could have a bedroom, to ourselves, and it was spotless and furnished with everything we needed. The best part for us was just to sit out under the beautiful old live oak trees and watch the herd of cows there with their new baby calves. Lucy, our hostess, was very easy to get in touch with, and we enjoyed her introducing us to the miniature donkey, goats, and horses. We would love to go back again and spend more days there.

Beautiful property! But house a bit dirty (as of review)
The farm, the owners, the animals, and the lake were all amazing! Note the indoor fireplace is electric and is the only heating source in the whole house, so bring your own blankets especially as the provided blankets had plenty of pet hair and smelled a bit off. There was mold above the shower and overall the inside of the house is a bit old--but we loved the outside!
Oh and the washer and dryer or located a short drive away from the house-so don't plan on doing laundry the night you arrive!
Had a wonderful stay. The place was awesome! My son graduated from Texas A&M and then asked her girlfriend’s hand in marriage at the cabin! Such great memories!
Our friends and I stayed here for a horse clinic at nearby Miracle farms. We had a wonderful stay at the house - it had everything we needed and was very clean. Communication with the host was terrific and the check-in process was very easy. We plan on returning again if the horse clinic is back in town next year!
This was a beautiful property. My dogs really enjoyed it. Thanks to Lucy and daughter for sharing their animals with me to pet and groom. They were also very nice to just chat with me; very friendly.
Literally in the midst of the cattle range, this country house is a great fit for those who enjoy animals, nature and being out-of-sight of man-made structures. The house has a large living room, kitchen and covered porch for gathering. Lucy is very responsive to communication and enjoys showing guests the animals on the ranch. We are very pleased with our experience!
House was very comfortable for all seven of us. Plenty of space for our games and projects. We just cooked breakfast there and all the pans, skillet etc were there that we needed. Great location for exploring Brenham and Navasota! Hosts were very welcoming!
Loved the Texas country decor and it was huge. I had a hard time deciding which bed to sleep in. There were 6 beds. The owner was extra attentive and very personable. She went above & beyond to make my stay great. There was everything I needed, paper plates, seasonings & coffee, and much more. I loved the place.
We had a nice relaxing weekend at this cozy farmhouse. Even though the weather was not good for much outdoor fun there was plenty of games and movies to watch. My granddaughters enjoyed the animals at the barn. Lucy is a very gracious host . We plan to go back when the weather is better.
Me and 4 other friends stayed at this house for the weekend for a football game. We absolutely loved it. Everyone had their own bed and had amenities for everything we needed. We built a fire on our last night and enjoyed the outdoors as its in a remote location so you can see the stars. I would highly recommend this property.
Great place for a family! We had room for everyone, everything we needed in the kitchen. The little kids loved the barn time with the animals. Lucy was a great host.
We stayed here on a long weekend to check out the Brenham area for a future move. We really enjoyed the area. Spent a lot of time walking around the property in the mornings and checking out the stars in the evening. Note it is really dark and it’s awesome. Not a lot of light pollution. Easy trip into Brenham and even shorter drive to Washington on the Brazos state park. Lucy was super helpful. Overall excellent trip and we would stay here again.

My grandparents bought Old Oaks in 1956. We think it was one of the original Stephen F. Austin land grants. The original owners died out and the place was fallow for 10 years. I was 10 years old when we bought the place - I grew up here, my children grew up here, and now my grandchildren are enjoying it.
What makes this property unique
Old Oaks Ranch is an oasis in a busy world. When you are here you can relax and really enjoy nature. This is a great place to recharge.
