We were three couples traveling together with trailers and 4 wheelers Worked perfectly allowing all of us a bedroom and we could all park our trailers and feel safe.

Manassa House
We were very disappointed when we pulled up. There were 18 inch weeds surrounding the porch to get to the front door. Making it hard to get up on the porch. The front door was very very hard to open. Also there was a lot of dead bugs at the base of the tall windows. The rest of the house was okay and sufficient.

Cute House - Basic Amenities
Unfortunately upon our arrival we found a dead mouse on the kitchen floor. As a family used to living in the country we just disposed of it ourselves but not the best first impression.
Kitchen and cleaning supplies were limited. Only one trash bag that we could find, kitchen towels, sponges etc were limited. (Or if there was a backup supply we couldn’t locate it). Rat poison was located in the kitchen drawers right next to the silverware drawer which seemed a little strange / not safe.
We also found the camera located in the kitchen to feel a little invasive.
The home is a cute and spacious place to stay, definitely a great place for a family. (Though it’s important to note that the listing says - Maximum of 8 people: Sleeps up to 4 adults - that is not a suggestion for comfort but an actual maximum number of adults allowed. Any additional adult will be Charged extra per night. That wasn’t explicitly stated in the listing so we were a bit confused when we found out about the extra charges - as our family had 6 adults). All and all though the house itself is located in beautiful pasture land with mountains in the distance (large windows make for great views), convenient drive in to town, and overall spacious and clean place to stay!

Oh no, sorry to hear about the mouse, my cleaner is about 5 min away and would have had no problem cleaning it up. There are plenty of Trash bags in the utility room. The charges are as listed as well as the Arlo camera That is used as the home indicates when a guest checks in and out. It is all listed in the listing. My cleaner thankfully mentioned to me how all the lights were on when you had booked for 1 person. And that there were SIX trucks outside, thus making it frustrating to trust. Also, the home has 3 full beds and 4 twin beds, plenty of room for all.
Middle of nowhere? No way! This house is in the middle of everywhere! A half hour’s drive from Alamosa, home of Adams State University and its beautiful campus, Walmart, and many restaurants. Wolf Creek Pass and Pagosa Springs to the west. Los Alamos and the Manhattan Project (Oppenheimer sites), Santa Fe (old town, capitol, cathedral, Miraculous Staircase, oldest church in America), and Taos to the south. Manassa Mauler Jack Dempsey (World Heavyweight Champion 1919-1926) birthplace and small museum only a mile east in Manassa, and outdoor Stations of the Cross with adobe chapel and Walk of the Martyrs (priests martyred during Mexico’s civil war) farther east in San Luis. Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve to the north. Hit the Dunes early in the day before the thunderstorms build. Atop a 700’ dune is not where you want to be amid lightning.
We had five adults in the spacious, spread-out home and could have slept more. The kitchen has excellent appliances and enough equipment and service to put on a feed for twenty or more. The main level living room, bathed in natural light, is perfect for visiting, games, crocheting, and reading. In the loft is a huge couch and television where we could sign into our Peacock and Netflix accounts. Wifi is strong except in the master where adobe walls diminish the full signal.
The lawn is a great place to play catch. The gas grill was a little wobbly (probably knocked over by wind at some point), but we propped it up and grilled steaks. St
We rented this property as a home base as we were helping my parents prep their house to be sold. It’s close enough to a variety of little towns in the San Luis Valley, beds were comfortable, space was great! Perfect for our needs.
This property was nice for what we needed. Our RV was damaged by hail, so we needed a last minute place to stay for a hunt near San Antonio Mountain. We didn’t spend much time at the house. Just to have dinner and sleep basically. The bathrooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. The yard was quite overgrown with weeds, and we had to clear them just to get to the back door, but that is my only real negative thing to say. Since we were hunting we were prepared to be outdoors with shovels and rakes anyway. The neighboring horses came over to visit at the fence and the kids loved to see them and pet them. (Don’t recommend if you don’t have experience with horses though!) Overall, it was a good experience.

Thank you so much for choosing our home, I apologize for the weeds. We don’t have access to a company that can do yard maintenance like we would like. We have since had them sprayed and plan to get them pulled soon.
Beautiful loft views over horse ranches and farmland
I had a spectacular visit in La Jara. This house is great, tons of space, and amazing loft with incredible views. Nice kitchen. Great hiking nearby. Quaint tiny pioneer towns on both sides.
I can’t stress enough how perfect this place is. The owner is very responsive to your needs and very nice. It was clean, WARM and the views are amazing! I cannot wait to stay here again. I loved how every destination was about 1-2 hours around us and it made this the perfect home point. The kids had tv and internet to come home to, that’s a huge perk with teens and a 6 year old.
nice home for a family and area is in good location
Was perfect for areas we were coming and going to, great place for relaxing and some peace and quiet.
Communication with owner was excellent, since we had lots of questions, she always responded in a timely matter.

Great location for our purposes
This home worked well for our family's stay. We have family in Sanford and around and this allowed us to enjoy our family gatherings without traveling back to a hotel.
The property was clean and easily accessible.

Born and raised in the San Luis Valley, both sides of the family are in the area. We come home a lot to be with family and when you travel with 3 kiddos one needs their own space.
