About this property

Meadow View, Chapel Stile

Meadow View, situated in Chapel Stile, is one of a row of traditional Lakeland slate cottages built in the 19th century for local workers families.

It is cosy and is a well appointed, and has been fully refurbished in 2025 following a change of ownership.

Chapel Stile is the perfect location to base yourself to explore the fantastic Langdale Valley, with all the drama of the Langdale Pikes.

There is on-street parking to the front of the property and further parking available locally

The heart of the village is just a short stroll away. In the village you can find the well stocked local convenience store -the Langdale Co-op, Brambles Cafe, and the welcoming village church - The Great Langdale Holy Trinity and Wainwrights Inn which sells local brewed ales and provides good homemade food. The famous climbers inn The Old Dungeon Ghyll, New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel and Stickle Barn Tavern (now owned by the National Trust) are just up the Langdale Valley.

For those wishing to explore further afield, a bus stop is located at the end of the road.  Buses are frequent and connect guests with the wider towns and outstanding scenery of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Leaving the car behind and jumping on a bus to explore the National Park not only helps to look after the spectacular landscape but also gives passengers the opportunity to see it without the challenge of negotiating narrow, and sometimes steep, country lanes or search for parking at your destination. By sitting back watching the landscape go by, the journey becomes part of your adventure!

Elterwater, the famous Britannia Inn, Slates Bistro and The welcoming Eltermere Inn for a touch of fine dining are a short stroll away, with a fabulous walk along the river. The cottage is also handily placed to access the Langdale Valley, four miles from Ambleside and close to the neighbouring villages of Grasmere and Hawkshead.
