Just 12 miles south of Aviemore it is also a popular winter destination for skiers along with the Lecht, with skiing and snowboarding for all abilities. Visit Dalwhinnie, where you can tour Scotland's highest distillery and have the mysteries of whisky making explained (and purchase a bottle!) or go to the Highland Wildlife Park, and explore the habitat walks and be amazed at the wolf territory and a diverse collection of Highland wildlife. An excellent location to tour this attractive part of the Central Highlands, with many of the main attractions an easy drive away.

Our annual trip to Scotland brought us back to the Highlands, and we chose Glenspey this year because it could accommodate our large group and was dog friendly — both of which were perfect for us.The location is excellent, with the shops and railway station only a short walk away. There is plenty of off-road parking, plus a large area at the rear for storing bikes, which was really useful.Inside, the foyer and lounge are spacious, comfortable, and well furnished. The dining room features a large table, making it ideal for our whole group to enjoy communal meals together at the same time. The kitchen is well equipped with a double oven, hob, microwave, and everything else we needed, although it could benefit from a little more lighting. There is also a laundry room with a washing machine, separate tumble dryer, and bottle fridge. We used this as a drying room after outdoor activities, and for those who enjoy the outdoors, a dehumidifier would make it even better. The bedrooms are spacious and all have en-suite bathrooms. A couple of small improvements could be adding bath/slip mats and providing a bit more hanging space for coats in some rooms.During our stay we had an issue with the boiler not supplying hot water, but Robert and Peter, the owners, responded incredibly quickly and were extremely helpful. An engineer arrived within the hour, which was amazing given the late afternoon timing and remote location, and the issue was resolved promptly.
