The cottage is simple and well considered; the gable facing up the valley is glazed from floor to apex so that the light and views are maximised from the ground floor or the mezzanine bedroom above. Eco-friendly materials such as lime plaster and Welsh wool insulation, Welsh slate and local stone have been used wherever possible; this is a house which has immediately settled into its landscape.
There are two bedrooms, one on each floor with the ground floor bedroom being a king (which can be made up as twin beds on request) with an adjacent shower room, while the King sized bedroom upstairs has both the bed and the freestanding bath positioned to make the most of the Conwy Valley views. The living area is open plan and sociable and flooded with light.
The gardens are of course a highlight, specimen plants, a fountain and estate fencing create the feeling of a formal garden on a small scale and are a delightful space to wander in or just to sit and relax. The owners live nearby but the cottage and garden are for the cottage guests' use only (The gardener and the owners may occasionally work on the gardens to keep them looking their best.)
