Children will love watching iconic species in the Peak Wildlife Park (9.5 miles), while those seeking a slower afternoon can take in the spectacular Italian Gardens at the National Trust's Ilam Park. Finish each day with a visit to Ashbourne's (2 miles) quaint cobbled streets, before stopping off for a homemade meal at one of the cosy inns or fantastic farm shops.
