Nestled within the grounds of the Grade II listed Georgian Langbaurgh Hall, Stables is a beautifully restored stable conversion brimming with charm, character, and heritage. Set in the picturesque village of Great Ayton, on the edge of the North York Moors National Park and beside the Cleveland Hills and the gentle flow of the River Leven, this enchanting retreat offers a peaceful escape surrounded by stunning natural beauty.
Stables has been thoughtfully renovated to retain its original character, showcasing exposed stonework and striking beamed ceilings, while incorporating stylish modern comforts. On the ground floor, a bright and welcoming living area centres around a cosy wood-burning stove, creating the perfect space to relax after a day exploring. A glass door leads out onto your private patio, complete with outdoor dining and benches, while stone steps guide you up to the communal walled gardens. From here, a gate opens out into a large field and play area, ideal for enjoying the outdoors.
Back inside, a step down from the lounge leads into the open-plan kitchen and dining area, which is modern, well-equipped, and perfect for preparing and enjoying meals together. A convenient ground floor WC completes this level.
Upstairs, the accommodation is both flexible and comfortable. The spacious master double bedroom includes an armchair that folds out into a single bed for an additional guest, along with its own en suite walk-in shower. The second bedroom features a day bed with a pull-out trundle, making it ideal for children or friends, and also benefits from its own en suite shower room.
The estate itself is a joy to explore, with 1.3km of scenic walking trails weaving through the grounds. The restoration of Langbaurgh Hall and its outbuildings was carried out with great care and respect for its rich past, preserving its legacy while inviting guests to experience a unique piece of Yorkshire’s heritage.
Great Ayton itself is a charming and well-served village, offering a variety of independent shops, welcoming pubs, cafés, and restaurants.
