Birch Lake Secluded Getaway LLC is the perfect destination for your next vacation. Enjoy the peaceful country setting away from the maddening crowd. Our 12-acre resort is situated in the beautiful hills of Midwestern Wisconsin, complete with a private 3.5-acre spring-fed lake, four beaches, and four homes located 100 feet apart, allowing for a safe and private getaway. Our lake is stocked with bass and bluegill, and each house is equipped with a hot tub, indoor fireplace, flat-screen TV, full kitchen, and central air, making it perfect for all types of travelers. Birch Lake Getaway is a 12-acre secluded resort with 4 lakeside vacation rental homes (cabins) all listed on Vrbo and conveniently located in the rolling hills of central Wisconsin. It has a 3 1/2 acre spring-fed fishing and swimming lake complete with four beaches, a lake observation deck, and a beach shack.

There are also open areas where we have our volleyball & badminton net set up as well as our gazebo, another fire pit and plenty of space for whatever else you may have in mind.

For larger groups, Birch Lake can accommodate up to 44 people overnight for weddings, company retreats, family reunions, church trips & any other type of large get-together’s.

We love the space for all of us to gather together. This was our 3rd time staying and we will more than likely return again. The only downside may be that it's not really handicapped or elderly friendly. Also tubs were slow to drain and water pressure was very slow at times.

Great space

This is our second time staying here. It had everything we needed for our group and plenty of space to spread out. Showering took some time as the water pressure was not good in any of the bathrooms, but we managed.

Outside looked run down, construction going on off the back of house, inside was filthy mouse dropping in drawers, then there were mice running around in house, the lake is no place for children, dirty gross water with snapping turtles the kids were not safe, cost way too much for what we got, we would never go there again

This charming rustic cabin is nestled deep in the woods, offering a peaceful retreat surrounded by nature. The home is exceptionally clean and well-equipped with a variety of thoughtful amenities. Each evening, we relaxed around the firepit out front, a perfect way to end the day.The cabin sits beside a private, fish-stocked lake, ideal for hours of relaxing fishing. A rowboat and paddle boat were provided, adding to the fun and serenity of the experience. It's the perfect place to disconnect from the noise of everyday life, unplug from the internet, and soak in the beauty of rolling hills and forested scenery.

Family Get-a-way

Loved having access to a paddle and rowboat. The trampoline in the lake was a hit. Grandkids loved all the turtles. Badminton, volleyball, and table tennis all available. Very nice get-a-way vacation for us.

We had a fantastic time at Birch Lake Secluded Getaway. We fished, played in the very wide grassy area, had bonfires, and spent much needed rest and relaxation on the many decks with our family. Anytime we contact the host for any reason, they were VERY quick to respond and fixed whatever needed fixing very quickly. The house may not be perfect, but it was very perfect for our family and our vacation time. The lake was not the nicest for swimming (great for fishing though), but we found a lake at a state park just minutes away that was great for our littles (4 that were 2 and under) to swim in. If you go to a state park, buy the year parking pass. You only have to go 3 times to make it worth it. Thank you for a GREAT family vacation!!

Spacious and rural

We loved the space of the cabin and the location. There were a few things that didn’t work like the wifi, 2 of the 3 showers, and the dishwasher, but there were still more pluses than minuses. The ping pong room was a huge hit and we loved having an open area on the main floor all 10 of us could be together. Boating and watching the snapping turtles in the lake was also a highlight. Just be aware that it is very rural so sometimes you can find outside critters inside. We had a mouse visit the downstairs that gave some folks a spook.

BEST Vacation EVER!

Absolutely LOVED our stay! Property is beyond beautiful with plenty of space for my family. We all thought the turtles (which other people complained about) were cute and charming, and don’t snap at people. House was clean and we liked all the information notices posted about fishing, Wi-Fi, etc. We all decided that this is going to be our yearly family vacation destination. Thank you Terry for an awesome vacation:)

Awesome space

We were able to spend a fun week with our four adult children and their spouses or significant others in addition to four small grandchildren. There was enough space for everyone to have a good place to sleep, and enough indoor space that we could hang out together or separately, even on rainy days when we didn’t go out. There’s lots of porch and table space outside as well as chairs for around the fire pit, chairs by the beach, and space on the dock on a quiet lake. Loved our time there.

About our stay...

Staying at Serenity Bay was fun, but there were a few things...guests staying in the downstairs bedroom were cold. Maybe providing a space heater would be helpful. The hot tub was a nice feature, but it felt more like a "warm" tub. The beds were not very comfortable...maybe upgrade mattresses (or mattress pads). The ping-pong table was definitely a hit!!

Other than the fact that we came in the blizzard of Jan. 2024, this place was perfect for us. It had more than ample space for 11 people to sleep. The hot tub was an added bonus for a few of our group. One slept next to the fireplace on our last night. The only downside we had, and thats no fault of anyone but mother nature, was it can be difficult to find on the backroads of Tomah in a snow storm. They did a great job keeping us plowed out. Overall, we were all very happy with our stay and will be back!

Beautiful location

This is my first time to stay at a self cleaning location. Beautiful location and Mr. Terry is very kind and helpful. If coming make sure you pack supplies needed! Many of us have allergies and a couple asthma. Mr. Terry sent staff to handle a couple issues we had with cleaning. Make sure you inform him quickly so he can start that process if there is an issue.

Family time

We had a group of 9, including our adult children, significant others and our 2 year old Granddaughter. The spiral staircase was scary with a toddler. Bring your own baby gates. Everyone had room to spread out and join together. Perfect for our needs. The beds were ok but the mattresses could use an upgrade. The main floor furniture was a bit warn out and not the most comfortable, but it worked. Everything else was great.

Solid place for a large group

I hosted my brother’s bachelor party here for a weekend, and everyone was very pleased overall. It is not a particularly new or clean place, true to its rural WI setting, but it is perfectly suited to a group and has great communal spaces both indoor and outdoor. Note that this is a BARE BONES place, you have to bring many of your own essentials. Be very thoughtful/planful! We thought we had everything but forgot some kind of utensil to clean dishes with. Lastly, note that there is not really internet access here. And depending on your wireless provider there may or may not be service.

Happy but disappointed

We enjoyed the house and the location very much however, we had some complaints that we did address to the owner. Nothing was absolutely terrible but the were legit complaints. When I addressed them to the owner I received basically an apology but nothing more.

Could be a great place.

With a deep cleaning and a little TLC, this would be a good getaway location. We did not receive the list of items that are not provided (consumables like toilet paper, soap, towels, garbage bags), so had to make a run to the store to get those things. The home was not very clean, especially the bathrooms and kitchen. We were unable to open the screen doors because the screens were ripped and let in bugs and the internet service was very poor. Again this could be a very nice location. The pond is nice, trails, beaches, and opportunity for lots of outdoor fun.

Tomah rental

The house was roomy and set up well for a large group of people. The seating areas and decks were a beautiful place to sit and enjoy the outdoors. The place definitely needed a good deep cleaning. We had a wonderful time, but that being said, we’ve stayed at many places at this price with simple amenities like garbage bags included. The spring fed pond, is not a lake as described which I would also make more clear in the description. Swimming was not for the faint of heart. We had very warm days and the A/C did not keep up- it was a struggle to get it below 84 degrees.

clean charge what a rip off all they do is change the sheets. Beach okay across the lake when piics. showed right out the back door where we could see the beach. Water slim, snapping turtles all over no one can swim in the lake. We paid for this convience and did't get it. Railing ready to fall off no internet even though it said there was.

Stuck in the past

THERE IS NO WIFI!!! The host says that there is wifi and it's just bad but not a single person, nor the TV that lives there was able to even connect to the wifi. There were no other cabins occupied so this is the full extent of the wifi. The host says that there are no providers that can service the area but that's just a lie, it's 2025 and there are options like starlink that can give good wifi in remote areas, not that this is even that remote. Thankfully everyone had full bars of service on AT&T, lending even more credence to it not being impossible to have wifi.The whole place was very old and had the smell of your grandparents house that is just a little mildewy. There were dead bugs littering the house and plenty more alive ones bugging us the whole weekend. Beds and furniture were about as firm as sleeping on the carpet. Furniture was very cheap. For this price this house should at least have toilet paper, soap, trash bags, and a lighter for the grill.This has been the most disappointing VRBO experience I've ever had. I will not be returning and will try to discourage anyone under the age of 65 from going

We are Sally and Terry. What a great blessing it was to stumble on to this beautiful 12 acre property in 1995. Even though the only convenience here was an outhouse (including no plumbing or electricity!) we fell in love with the rolling hills and beautiful lake. As former city dwellers and corporate dropouts who had made the choice to get out of the traffic and noise, we headed to the country with nothing specific in mind except to just get away from it all.

Starting from scratch was an adventure where over the next ten years, Birch Lake slowly began to develop. It was so much fun to put in the opportunities for the simple escape to nature; Ranging from the hiking trail in the woods, the little waterfall, and the deck out on the water. It was because of these ideas in which Birch Lake came into being. As we began to offer this experience to others we expanded, adding one cabin after another; Having each cabin carefully designed to complement and fit in to the surroundings.It has truly been a pleasure to receive the gift of trust that we deeply value from our guests. The fond memories that our guests create are what make up the ambiance of Birch Lake and its cabins.

It's very secluded from the hassle of life. This 12 acre property enjoys a stunning natural beauty. Surrounding the property are the rolling hills of south west Wisconsin. It's on a dead end road and the peace and quiet is amazing yet it's only a 10 minute drive to the city of Tomah which offers shopping, fast foods, restaurants and a
Walmart Super Center.
