Wonderfully built cabins with all amenities - perfect place to stay in the black hills. Green spaces, games and a campfire pit for everyone on property. Easily accessible off the highway. Host was exceptional - highly recommend and will be staying here again.
Great location for where we wanted to visit. The cabin was extremely clean and we were impressed with the extent to which the host thought of all the little things. Snacks, eggs from their chickens, toiletries, great wifi, etc. A great place to stay and we will be back.
Property was a great location to explore all areas of the Black Hills. Has a great nature and farm feel with all the amenities to live in luxury. I would definitely recommend this to anyone that wants a great nature getaway!
Very clean and quiet. Had everything you needed and host was very friendly and checked to make sure you had everything you needed to make your stay comfortable.
We would highly recommend the Campfire Cabins. Great hospitality and excellent experience. Very clean! We will definitely stay there again when in the area. It was n”centrally located for the thing we wanted to do.
This was a beautiful area, and such a cute cabin. The owners are very thoughtful with all the amenities they provide you, they also provide a binder with all types of scenic information which was so helpful. If you don’t like animals then this might not be the cabin for you. Their farm animals (goats, cats) are very social, and so friendly. We loved the whole experience.
We had a lovely time during our stay. Sarah and Al are very accommodating and friendly hosts and we were provided all the comforts of home. We also really enjoyed having the animals around and it’s a nice peaceful location that gets away from the noise and traffic of the city while being within a reasonable drive for groceries and attractions.
It was the perfect place reasonably priced and close to everything the black hills has to offer. The kids loved feeding the goats and the calves! We would definitely come again!

Very clean cute cabin. Appreciated the snacks left by the host since we were doing a lot of sightseeing. Host was very accommodating and checked in to make sure all was good. Loved the bunnies and other animals on the property. Will definitely stay here again if back in the area.

About the host
Hosted by Sarah Sutton
Campfire Cabins is proudly owned by Albert & Sarah Sutton. We grew up in the Black Hills. We were high school sweethearts and married after graduation. We then moved to Rapid City for work. 25 years and 6 children later we had the opportunity to purchase land and move back to the Black Hills. We soon realized how much we had missed the beauty and serenity of the local area.
We decided to turn our property into an organic hobby farm with a large greenhouse, chickens, ducks & turkeys, milking goats, and a handful of beef cows. We also decided to build cabins near our home to share with other families wanting to experience all the Black Hills have to offer. With 2 children still at home, we own and operate the cabins as family business. We look forward to getting to know you and be an added blessing to your vacation experience!
Why they chose this property
We believe family is important, and we want to give your family a memorable vacation! We know how stressful it can be on everyone stuck in a car all day. Once you get here there is plenty of room for your kiddos to run around, play ball, and have a water fight on the front lawn while you take a breather and unpack. There are toys, games, books, and movies for them to use. Grab a drink and have a seat on the front porch and just enjoy their energy and happiness :)
Our cabins have a full-sized kitchen for you to prepare and cook snacks & meals. There is a small dining table inside each cabin and picnic tables and chairs outside for you to sit around and enjoy the togetherness of a meal and conversation.
With 6 children of our own, we know how expensive travel can be! Vacations don't have to be costly or "flashy". Kids will remember the TIME and EXPERIENCES you give them. They will remember bottle feeding calves up in the Sutton's barn and playing with the baby rabbits. They will remember the days you spent hiking, boating, or ATVing with them outdoors. They will remember the other kids they met at the campfire and the smores! They will remember playing soccer, beanbags, or flashlight tag with those same new friends while you get a chance to relax around the campfire and visit with other families from around the country. Want to know which trails are the best? Ask the other grandparents & parents who have already hiked/rode them! What is the best scenic drive? Is the pontoon boat or ATV rental worth it? Where are the best restaurants? Everyone is willing to help you out & share their experiences.
We (Al & Sarah) live on the property and are always available to answer your questions. Feel free to call or message us anytime! We are down at the campfire most nights, so come down and introduce yourselves! Smores are on us!!
