About this property
13th century castle in Italy
Montefalco today has several churches, some in the Romanesque, some in the Gothic and some in the Renaissance style. Historically, the most important is the church of San Francesco, which is now the town's museum, and, given its collection of art and artifacts, one of the most important museums in Umbria.
Porta Della Rocca’s location and it’s history is what makes it one of the most charming properties in the region. Built in the 1300’s, and newly renovated by local architects who were able to preserve the history while incorporating modern amenities.
Wake up every morning enjoying your coffee while gazing at a panoramic view of sweeping hills covered in Olive groves and vineyards, as well as amazing views of the surrounding cities of Perugia, Assisi and Spoleto.
The commune of Montefalco and a small area of the commune of Bevagna constitute the regulated geographical area for Montefalco wines. Every year around Easter, the town sponsors a major festival called Settimana Enologica, “Wine Week”, where visitors can enjoy the principal wines produced in the area including the comparatively simple red table wine, Montefalco Rosso, the more complex DOCG red wines Sagrantino, for which the area is famous, and the Montefalco Sagrantino secco.
Porta Della Rocca’s location gives you the opportunity of being in walking distance of fine dining, wine tasting, shopping and amazing historical churches. Easily travel around to surrounding cities. A multilingual rep is available to help with any of your needs including winery tours, travel arrangements, driving arrangements, restaurant reservations and more.
Come experience the real Italian lifestyle at Porta Della Rocca, and make memories that will last you a lifetime.

The unit we stayed in was a renovated Tower and wall of Montefalco. It was beautiful and spacious.
So beautiful!
The space was functional - modern yet kept the essence of the property. The views out the window of the kitchen and from the patio at the top of the tower span the entire valley. The master bedroom is gorgeous and comfortable (AC in the bedrooms). The bathrooms all have walk-in showers with heated towel bars. It has to be the very best space to rent in Montefalco. Very clean, nice linens, clothes washer-dryer, dishwasher, cooktop, oven - all high end and new. You would think that the tower might be dark but it was full of light from windows and strategically placed lights.
You can see all the other hill towns from the Tower.
Compared to some of the other hill towns Montefalco is very walkable. From the tower it is maybe 200 yards to the center plaza with restaurants, and shops.
We rented a small Fiat and visited the other hill towns.
We took part in a tour of grape vineyards and olive groves, with tastings of wine and olive oil as well as appetizers at the Montioni winery just outside the walls from the town.
Two weeks in paradise!
