Great property right on the lake! Well equipped and clean. Our dog was with us and loved the area. Close to hiking and biking and the most beautiful Adirondacks!
Amazing location on a beautiful and peaceful lake. Very private and well stocked. Kayaks and paddleboards available for use. Less than 2 miles from local restaurant and shops.
Enjoyed hiking Castle Rock and Sawyer Mt trails nearby. Visited the Adirondack Experience history Museum on a rainy afternoon. If you enjoy the outdoor it’s a great retreat! We brought plenty of food and enjoyed the charcoal grill every night. Very private and relaxing! Very much enjoyed our stay here!

Joanne was a great guest. She came to check out the property before she stayed and had a fun family weekend in the Fall. Autumn is magical in the Adirondacks. The colors are amazing and there are no bugs. Joanne and her family are welcome back anytime.
I mean you can`t go wrong, beautiful house, lake in the backyard. Kayaks and boats available, did not have to lug my kayak up. Grill and fire pit for cooking, watching the otters and loons come by regularly. Had the biggest pike of my life on but of course he bit through my line. I ll get him next year, because i m not sure i can find a better place in the Adirondacks for a relaxing trip like this. Think i ll start looking at real estate here :)

About the host
Hosted by Daniel
Daniel and Marjan are a fun-loving couple who truly enjoy the peace and solitude that the Adirondacks and Lake Abanakee offer. Both are artists and college professors, and they find deep inspiration and renewal in the woods, the water, and the ever-changing seasons of this special place.
Our camp has always been a refuge — a place to slow down, reconnect with nature, and appreciate the simple abundance that lake and forest life provide. There’s a saying here: “If you’re lucky enough to have a house on the lake, you’re lucky enough.” We feel very fortunate, and we’re grateful to be able to share that good fortune with our guests.
Hosting allows us to open our lakeside retreat to families and travelers who value quiet, nature, and time together. We hope your stay brings you the same sense of relaxation, joy, and renewal that we experience every time we’re here.
Why they chose this property
After years of camping in the great North Woods and swimming in every lake we could find, we began renting cabins throughout the Adirondacks, searching for a place we could truly call our own. After we were married, we discovered Balsam Point — and immediately knew we had found something special.
We’ve spent years shaping this property into a sanctuary where creativity can thrive and everyday life slows down. The setting is peaceful and restorative, with wonderful swimming from our beach and dock in the clear, velvety waters of Lake Abanakee. Nature is always close here, and each season brings its own kind of beauty.
Up here, relaxing is an activity — and we take it seriously. We designed our home and grounds around comfort, ease, and enjoyment, with the hope that guests would feel as welcome and refreshed as we do. In many ways, it’s our own small Shangri-la in the woods, and we’re delighted to share it with others.
What makes this property unique
Balsam Point stands out for its rare combination of private waterfront access on Lake Abanakee and a quiet setting within the town of Indian Lake. Unlike many Adirondack rentals, it offers both seclusion and convenience—just minutes to town, yet set on a calm, low-traffic lake ideal for swimming, kayaking, and relaxing. This is a true Adirondack lake experience that’s increasingly hard to find.
The home is designed for comfortable group stays, with open living spaces, lake views, and multiple areas to gather indoors and out. Evenings by the fire pit and clear Adirondack skies create a peaceful, unplugged experience guests return for.
🌞 Summer Lake Life Set in a quiet cove on Lake Abanakee, the water is calm and low-traffic—no jet skis or heavy wakes—making it ideal for families, swimming, and paddling. Wildlife sightings, including loons and birds, are common.
❄️ Winter Location Minutes from Garnet Hill Lodge for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, plus access to Indian Lake snowmobile trails with space for trailer parking.
🌌 Peace, Safety & Night Skies 🚶♀️ Close to Everything—Yet Feels Remote Balsam Point is more than a vacation rental—it’s a safe, spacious, and magical place for families to experience the Adirondacks in every season.
