The interior spaces of Silver Shells St. Maarten 201 have been tastefully decorated with a trendy beach theme. An open floor plan and 12-foot ceilings give the whole family or group space to relax together. The living area is beach-facing, features floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding glass doors, and offers plenty of seating for everyone to gather around the flat-screen TV. The couch even converts to a queen sleeper sofa for larger parties. The spacious beach-facing patio is perfectly furnished to allow for entertaining or dining while taking in spectacular views of the white sand beach and emerald waters. The dining area has seating for four with four additional seats at the breakfast bar and two more seats at an additional side table. The fully equipped kitchen includes full-size stainless steel appliances and all the cookware and dishware you could need for creating memorable meals.

The master bedroom has incredible views and private access to the beach-facing patio. Complete with a king bed, flat-screen TV, and private ensuite bathroom, the master bedroom was designed with relaxation in mind. The master bathroom features a jacuzzi tub, walk-in shower, and double vanity. Both guest bedrooms face the north side of the resort and offer unbeatable views of the resort grounds. The first guest bedroom has a queen bed, a flat-screen TV, and private access to the north patio. This guest bedroom has a private bathroom with a tub/shower combination. The second guest bedroom has a twin over a full bunk bed, a flat-screen TV, and private access to the north patio. Just steps from both the guest bedroom and the living area is a full bathroom with a tub/shower combination.

Amazing Condo

One would think being on the Lobby level was not as good since you have an obstructed view of the ocean, but the easy entrance, 14 foot ceilings (only 8-10 in units above this one) and great parking space made this unit great. Highly recommended!

Loved being on the main floor. Came with beach and umbrella on special dates. There are no games, beach towels or chairs, spices or any extra’s. Walmart is across the street, so place your grocery order for pick up.

Overall, the unit is nice and the location is perfect on ground floor. We had a few small issues with a lamp not working in guest room and washing machine stopping in middle of cycle, which were addressed. Overall, it was a great experience and we would definitely stay there again.

Silver Shells is the best!

We had a broken washer first fee days but Compass Resorts was on top of it making sure alternative arrangements were made. Would normally ask for partial refund for inconvenience but they did such a good job I couldn’t do it. Everything else went smooth!

Condo was so spacious and convenient!! Plenty of room for family of 5. Love the location, easy parking and access to room. Literally walk out the back door and you’re at the pool and beach. You can also park right by the room and access your room without having to use elevator. Great tiki bar beachside for drinks and lunch. Room was very clean and nicely decorated. Walking distance to ice cream shop and the Back porch restaurant. 2 beach chairs/umbrella is included and set up daily for you. The only downside was beach chairs were set up daily in a certain order and we were on the 3rd row. Your 1st day you need to be at the chair rental by 8:30am to try to get front row set up but it’s not a guarantee. We went early several times but there were no “openings”.

Nice place but some needed maintenance

Overall we enjoyed our stay, however, a few things would have made it better. There was only one comfortable mattress and that was the king in the 2nd bedroom. All the other mattresses were very bad and need replaced. We were planning on grilling but we couldn't because the grill was just too flithy. The toaster is a fire hazard, when we tried to use it an open flame shot out. The front door to the inside hallway doesn't open except for about 1 1/2 feet. The door was catching on the carpet and it took some force just to get it open that far. We had to enter and exit through the sliding doors and leave the place unlocked when we went out. For what we paid for this unit, we expected more!

Ideal Location for a Family Beach Vacation

We stayed at Silver Shells St. Maarten 201 from 6/11 to 6/19. We would definitely recommend this resort and this specific unit to others. Unit location: The unit is on the ground floor, so instead of a balcony on the front of the unit, there is a very large patio. The patio is separated by an iron fence from a public terrace that overlooks the pool area. In the back of the unit there are sliding doors off of two of the bedrooms to the parking lot. The only downsides to being on the main floor would be 1) less of a view to the Gulf and 2) if you felt less secure being on the main floor. We felt like the ground floor was ideal. The patio is enormous compared to the balconies, and you can still see the horizon from the ground floor (and hear the water). Being on the terrace overlooking the pool made it much easier to let our young teens go down to the pool without us, which we might have been reluctant to do so if it meant an elevator ride. It was easy to go back and grab something when we went to the beach (e.g., refill the cooler, get more suntan lotion). The ground floor sliding door access in the back of the unit made it easy to load and unload the car. There is also a private spot in the parking garage under the unit with easy elevator access that opens directly to the unit's foyer. Unit impression: The pictures are accurate. Furniture is nice and perfectly comfortable. Beds are comfy. The showers weren't as clean as we wanted, but the management company was quick to address. The sliding door to the patio was weirdly difficult to slide. There were a few items missing (e.g., grilling utensils) that we had to buy and donate to the unit. Management company: Compass Resorts has an efficient process for check-in and -out. When we had a few minor issues (e.g., coffee maker stopped working, or we couldn't reset the TV box) they responded promptly. Nice people. Resort: Perfect location. Silver Shells Resort is ideal for a family vacation. Having a gigantic pool area (on the BEACH SIDE!!!) of the main highway was amazing. It really is a unique property. There is not a lot of nightlife within walking distance, which we viewed as a benefit. Our only real complaint was that the communal gas grills (there are four associated with each building) were poorly maintained and one of them represented an actual safety hazard. There was often a line for people waiting to grill their meals on the two working grills. tl;dr: We will definitely go back.

We absolutely loved the condo. AC kept us cool and there was a ton of room for everyone. The outdoor patio was great in the cool night. Our family is already planning our vacation next year at the same condo.

Nice Condo

The condo was very nice. There was plenty of room for everyone. I only have 2 minor complaints. The first is that under the couch cushions were very dirty with food, crayons, etc. It seems to have been missed from the previous cleaning. Second, we were miserably hot the entire time. The AC does not keep up. We even kept it on the recommended settings. Sleeping was miserable. Other than that, the place was wonderful. I would stay again.

Love the location and property

This was our second year staying there, the location and property overall are top notch. We came shortly after a hurricane and was assured before we arrived that our building and room specifically were not affected by the storm. Upon arrival, the flooring and baseboards of the hallway leading to our room were being ripped out due to water damage. Our master bedroom had a saturated carpet and obvious stench from the moisture. Compass resorts kept blowing us off repeatedly and the lack of communication from them was off putting and frankly disrespectful. It wasn’t until nearly a week after we returned from our stay that we finally were able to reach Liz Ross, GM at compass resorts and she was absolutely delightful. She is the only reason this review didn’t net a 2* review. Before speaking with her we were set on never doing business with compass resorts again. Because of her, we will most likely be returning again next year. Liz I hope you read this, you are a fine person and I appreciate your sincerity.
