About this property

Storybook Cottage: Family friendly, Ogunquit / Perkins Cove home, sleeps 12

10-minute walk to Marginal Way, Perkins Cove. 25 mins walk or 15 min bike ride to Ogunquit beach. Several of the best restaurants in Ogunquit are at the bottom of our road.

WINTER RENTAL (Sept - May): $3000 a month including everything except snowplowing.

This cozy house sleeps up to 12 in 5 bedrooms and 3 full, renovated bathrooms. We have window air conditioners all over the house for your comfort.
The large driveway can accommodate 4 vehicles, and there is
nowhere else in the Oguniquit area where you will find a house this size at
this reasonable price and this close to the water.

Our 1930s cottage has a designer kitchen with double ovens, a quiet-as-a-
mouse dishwasher, and a fully outfitted coffee bar with a variety of mixers
for your beverages. Two smart TVs are available and from our 3 season
family room you may see the turkeys and other critters that come wandering
through the 1 acre yard. One of the original owners of this property was an
owner of several Boston sports teams in the 1930s including the Boston Braves and Bruins and the hockey team so you can enjoy the custom-built Mahogony trophy shelves he had lining a wall in this room.

Board games, books, and outdoor games are available to keep your family
entertained. For our families traveling with small children, we offer a toddler
bed, portable crib, high chair, infant/toddler carrier backpack, and a wagon
to bring everything down to the beach.

Outside our guests can experience the yard in a variety areas, from the
hammock in the shade, a full circle fire pit, and the propane BBQ grilling
area right off the sunroom of the house, as well as a front porch with
cushioned chairs and rockers. With the equipment for exercise and yoga
under the trees (we provide a yoga mat, kettle bells, and hand weights), our
home is the perfect summer place for you and your family to relax, recharge
and reconnect with each other, nature, and your soul.

We welcome guests with a dog and are working on putting in a small, fenced
area for your furry friend for when you go out to the beach or dinner. Guests
traveling with a dog will pay a non-refundable pet deposit OF $250 per pet. Because this is Maine, we strongly encourage our guests to give your pet a flea and tick
treatment before arrival.

We offer a $50 a day discount to families who choose to bring all of their
own linens; otherwise, you will find new linens delivered to the property on
the day you arrive and then picked up the day you leave. Fresh linens are delivered to your door by a linen service the day you arrive.

This property offers absolute quiet, a feeling of sanctuary, while still being
just 700 steps to Perkin's Cove. You can walk to That Place for a romantic
meal or to The Cove restaurant for breakfast. You can go for a stroll on
Marginal Way or get in the car and drive to Cape Neddick Lighthouse in 10
minutes. What most people tell us and write in their reviews is that the
location of this property is really ideal since you can get into town without
the challenge of trying to find parking for your car.

Please note this is house is multilevel, and, therefore, has a lot of stairs,
both inside and outside of the house, which could pose a challenge to those
that require assistance or have limited mobility.

Note the offer above for people wanting to rent the property from Fall to
Spring. Generally, there are no discounts given during this period of time
since you will already see a significantly reduced rate reflected on the
website, but send us a note through the platform, and we are happy to
discuss your offers. Due to the potential for freezing pipes if a house is left
unattended (as this is Maine), we do not rent the house during this period of
time for anything less than 3 months.

There is an unattached guest house on the property that is not rented. It is
attached to the garage, so the garage is also not included in renting this
property.

Finally, we do encourage dialog regarding the property, but do not ask us to
call or e mail you separate from this website since this is the safest way for
both of us to communicate.

Warm wishes from our favorite place and we look forward to meeting you
soon.

Lisa and Mike

About the host

Host profile image
This is a property that has been in our family for more than 30 years and my husband and I took over the house in 2012. We adore Maine, the people, and the lifestyle more than anywhere else we have ever traveled.

Why they chose this property

We want to keep this a family home so that future generations are able to enjoy a quiet, peaceful place, somewhere to offer a respite from busy lives and hectic schedules. Maine is safe. Maine is what its motto implores, "The Way Life Should Be". This house has substance, history.
This house has space for privacy but if you want to walk into town for dinner and share a romantic bottle of wine, it is only a 10 minute walk back to a lovely cocoon.

What makes this property unique

Charles Adams, one time owner of the Boston Bruins and the Boston Braves was one of the original owners of the property and you can see a room that he made for his trophies in the rear 3 season room.

Additionally, this property and the town of Ogunquit will make you feel as if you are stepping into a Norman Rockwell painting, reconnect with nature and people. It gives you room to breathe, be creative, and thinking about next steps, next journeys as well as to just sitting still. It offers ways to be a part of nature, to exercise, to move, as well as to steep yourself in history and living life "The Way Life Should Be".
