Thanks so much for choosing our home Aileen! We really are happy you liked our kitchen! We had been in so many vacation homes ourselves where they had terrible knives, 1 tiny cutting board, and barely enough equipment to microwave a meal, let alone have a "vacation celebration".
Next year we will have our outdoor kitchen with wood-fired oven, grill, and kamado smoker. In addition, we will have a large herb garden for picking fresh herbs.
Come again soon!

Great location- Delicious Oysters
The farmhouse has a very spacious updated feel and the kitchen had everything we needed. All the little details were covered and working with the owners through the rental process was seamless. The private tideland access made gathering oysters fun and productive and is an awesome perk for oyster lovers. One really great thing about the location is that it is set off of the highway a bit more than other waterfront homes on Hood Canal which made it quieter and gave it a more remote feel. Proximity to Hoodsport makes running in to the IGA a quick trip, and if you don't want to cook, there are some options for dining (or wine and distillery tastings) I would recommend this home to anyone looking to stay on Hood Canal (and have already sent it to a few friends).

hanging out in the "hood"
our family (adult son, adult son & wife + two grandchildren, my husband and me) recently spent a delightful time at harley and rosalynn's hood-canal home. the lay-out, furnishings, setting and amenities were spot-on! we dug (and feasted) on our legal allotment of clams, viewed the super-moon as it rose above the canal, and enjoyed using the kayaks and waterside deck. the ONLY drawback was the sound of traffic due to the proximity of highway 101 (but even 'that' proved to be a very minor inconvenience). thank you for sharing your piece of hood-heaven with others!

Thanks for choosing our home Deb! We are so glad you like it as much as we do. We would love to have you come out any time you wish!
We are one of the lucky ones regarding the highway in that we are over 700 feet away. Most of the vacation homes literally are squeezed between the highway and the water, with cars buzzing right by your windows. Sadly when we bought the house, our neighbors cut the trees down while we were in closing. Rest assured we are planting trees and bushes to both block the view and the minor sounds from the highway. Soon we won't even know the highway is there.
It was so nice getting to know you! We hope you make our home a tradition.
All our best to you,
Harley and Rosalynn

Unbelievable views, stunning wildlife, fantastic comfort, close to Lake Cushman, great family fun!
This house was fantastic. We have rented many and owned a VRBO property, so we have strong opinions. The kitchen was great! We made several meals for the family there. The beds are worth mentioning too...very comfortable.
Since the campground showers and campsite were not the best (Skokomish North Camp) we cut the camping short by 1 night and moved the crew to the house. But the house is so close to all the fun it was a short drive back to Lake Cushman and the Olympic National Park for lots of water fun.
Highly recommend the Staircase Trail, especially for those that aren't big into hiking but still love to be out in nature. We found a spot to jump off the rocks into a deep pool of ice cold, crystal clear water. It was maybe the highlight of our trip. Hoping to come back next year and bring more families with us.
The IGA grocery store (about 5 minutes away) was nicely stocked and the friendliest employees.
The only drawback, and not a deal breaker, but I feel worth mentioning is the soft water. I understand this is outside Harley's control but for those of us not used to the softness, it was hard to feel clean. But also hard to care when we were having such a great time.
The kids loved looking at the oysters and learning about the fisherman up and down Hood Canal bringing in Salmon. We were lucky to be able to have a fire in the fire pit every night (burn ban in place in the National Forests and camping sites) so there were no shortages of s'mores.
All of us would definitely recommend this love home as a get-away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Thank you so much for choosing our home! We are so glad you loved it as much as we do!
Yes, we too have rented many VRBO's. Our goal when purchasing this home and creating a VRBO was to make sure we added everything we thought was missing from our previous stays at other homes during our travels. As "foodies", we wanted to have the best of kitchen equipment. This includes Kitchen Aid mixer, sharp knives, multiple cutting boards, tons of spices, condiments, and all types of international sauces so families can create "food memories".
Rosalynn and I believe you have to be comfortable. Our top-of-the-line beds, 800-thread count cotton sheets, Tempurpedic pillows, and water drinking vases were things we loved when traveling.
Thank you for the feedback regarding the water. We have an artesian well that is over 580-feet deep. The best part is the water is crystal clean and cold, which makes for the best drinking water. However, I can see how the lack of hard minerals may be a trade-off for showering.
We will be investing heavily in our home over the winter. We hope to add an outdoor kitchen with a wood-fired oven, a hot tub, an outdoor living room, and to add to the landscaping.
You and your family were such great guests. We would love to have you back any time you wish. Thanks again for choosing our home!
Warmly,
Harley and Rosalynn
We really enjoyed ourselves at this comfortable house with beautiful Hood Canal views. We loved barbecuing oysters, picking them off the tide flat, sitting around the campfire and watching the stars. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was well-equipped. We loved sitting on the covered deck eating oysters during a downpour.
Loved everything about the house. The house was very clean and spacious. The king size bed was very comfortable with lots of pillows. We even made oyster stew for two with the oyster that we gathered up. And, Harley was very helpful and easy to work with in renting this property. We'll definitely rent this home again when back in the Hoodsport area. Thank you Harley so much for the goodie basket, that was sweet.
This home is beautiful both inside and out. If you need a comfy bed, quiet place with beautiful views this is your place. Harley was easy to communicate with and was quick to respond to any questions. We had a wonderful time and this home provided everything we needed away from home. We saw seals and loons every morning and enjoyed the fire pit and kayaks during our stay. Thanks again Harley and Rosalynn your home is beautiful.
Great location view is unbelievable a great place to relax and unwind. Owners were very accommodating and always available to answer any questions. A must
My long-time girlfriends and I had such a nice relaxing long weekend at the Hood Canal Hideaway. The home itself had a very warm and welcoming feel and was equipped with everything we needed to get settled in quickly. We enjoyed oysters off the beach by day and great conversation by the fire at night. Harley was very communicative and both check-in/out instructions were clear and concise. Can't wait to make it back to this beautiful property again someday! 10/10!
Our family and I had a wonderful vacation on this property! My daughter especially enjoyed looking for all kinds of creatures, shells, and rocks on their tidelands. Harvesting oysters was one of the highlights. Just be mindful of following their instructions closely to help sustain their oyster farm. I had many questions before and during our stay. The owner always responded quickly.
This house had everything that we could have asked for and more. The owners welcomed us with a basket full of goodies and the kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. The house had 2 master bedrooms with comfortable beds and plush towels-- there was even a sauna in one of the rooms. The house felt like a spa retreat and it was difficult to leave. From the dining room, you can get great views of the canal and we even got to see an otter! The owners were incredibly responsive and made sure we were comfortable. We hope to be back!
We booked this house to have our dream vacation, crabbing, oystering and fishing. The quality and convenience of this property could not have been any better. Every need was accommodated for and we had an amazing time experiencing the wonder of the PNW. Highly, highly recommend reserving this house for anyone that wants to explore the Hood Canal.
We love this home and setting! The owners of the home are excellent communicators, and are very responsive. We also were welcomed with a basket of goodies and wine. The owners also checked in to make sure everything was good and to let them know if we had any questions. The home is well cared for with many amenities including kayaks, bbqs, smokers, and pretty much anything you need. The beds are very comfortable and there are two master suites. The view is incredible and there are six very comfortable Adirondack loungers out by the water. It was perfect for our family with two active young sons. The Roku was awesome as we watched a few Stranger Things episodes. We hope to be back next summer!

A beautiful place to escape the city pace
I love it here. I had such a wonderful time just being there, doing much of nothing. The home is not only beautiful, it is very clean, comfortable, and well equipped. Harley and Roz are very gracious hosts and were available to answer any questions we had.
We only stayed two nights and were sad to leave so soon, just as we stared to decompress. Next time, we will stay a minimum of 3 nights.
Some of the highlights of our stay were;
1. Waking up to the sunrise and enjoying a cup of coffee on the porch while taking in the view.
2. Selecting and shucking our own oysters and eating dinner al fresco at the fire pit.
3. Watching and listening to all the birds, I was especially in awe of a bald eagle that flew overhead. The closest I have ever been to one.
4. Playing backgammon and cribbage by the fire after dinner and watching the stars.
5. Reading, napping, sitting, chatting, soaking in nature.
The view is spectacular, the stars put on a show at night, and it is serene and peaceful. I highly recommend this property as an escape away from the city.

Lovely Farm House With Very Nice Hosts
Over the time, Hoodsport has been our family’s favorite place for a quick escape from life. This Rental property has provided us another wonderful time if not the best. Harley and Rosalynn were very nice and accommodating from the get go. This makes their home stand out from the rest. The place is exactly as described. Thoughtful touches found throughout the home as mentioned by others down to the environment friendly soap, the organic sugar, the extra soft tissues, and the very much appreciated welcoming basket. There are many things to explore around the areas, like Lake Cushman, Staircase Trail, and the nearby Olympic Peninsula. At the end of the day of your outing, nothing beats coming back to this house with the gorgeous view, the hot, strong shower, the brand new Sauna that just get installed, and the comfortable bed with the softest sheets. We also picked some fresh oysters on the beach. They are so delicious eaten right off the grill. It was quite windy when we were there; otherwise, we would have taken the Sea Kayaks out. We had campfire out in the patio every nights and enjoyed it so much even though it was chilly. The Canal Farmhouse is such a lovely vacation house with the most gracious hosts. We had a great time here, and we can see that it will only get better and better in the future with the care and thought the owners have for the place.

A comfortable, welcoming and clean home nestled in a slice of tranquility. A great year-round place.
Canal Hideaway was just what my wife and I were looking for on our Anniversary weekend.
We came in January and wanted a balance between rest and a little adventure, and between solitude and small-town attractions. We found it here!
The home is very comfortable, clean and well-equipped. Our hosts Harvey and Rosalynn were easy to contact and ready to be helpful, although we had no problems! Our communication throughout the rental process was clear and timely.
The Hoodsport-Potlach-Hamma Hamma-Lake Cushman areas provided us with plenty to do and very good meals/pastries/coffee over our 3-day stay. (We're probably a little more picky than some when it comes to food and coffee, especially when on vacation, but we were happy with the eateries recommended in the welcome binder our hosts provided... the Hoodsport Coffee Co. and Hamma Hamma Oyster Saloon were especially good!)
The view of Hood Canal from inside the home is mesmerizing. The moonlight on the water was spectacular. We didn't have time (or the right weather) to fully enjoy all of the amenities available here but we had a wonderful weekend together nonetheless. It would have been easy for us to spend a week here.
Inside, the water pressure and quality are excellent. The place is absolutely as advertised. The kitchen is extremely well-stocked, including 2 French presses. (No Keurig, for those of us short-cutters.) The bed was really comfortable, for both of us. The soaps and cleaning products are green and consideration is given to those of us who have sensitive skin. The slippers in the basket by the front door are a nice touch.
We easily mitigated the absence of garbage service. The bedroom closets were locked--not sure if that's usual or not, or if there was a key, but there are plenty of drawers and it wasn't a big deal to us.
There are neighboring homes to each side but we didn't see anybody and felt like we had good privacy in spite of the proximity.
We had a lovely time and definitely recommend this home and these owners! They have clearly put much thought and attention to detail into this place.
Many thanks!

Awesome, comfy, unbelievable views. It's actually hard to walk by a window without ocean gazing!
This place is soooo comfortable! There are very thoughtful touches throughout the property including an oceanside firepit (which the kids loved), two master suites and everything you need kitchen wise. We explored the Olympic National forest and can't wait to see more. We will definitely use this as home base for our next adventure!

The best place I have stayed on Hood Canal!
Every year my friends and I stay somewhere on the Hood Canal. We have stayed at in Union, Tahuya, Belfair, and a few other cities. Hoodports and this home, Canal Hideaway, are the best place we have stayed.
The home is simply BEAUTIFUL! There are georgous views from every window, seat, and bed. We watched eagles fly over the bay and sea lions playing in the water right in front of the home. The best part was the tidelands with thousands of oysters and we watched salmon run up the rivers.
Every night we had a fire at their beuatiful firepit and patio. The Adirondack chairs also made drinking coffee on Lilliwaup Bay a magical time.
We kayaked every morning on their COMPLIMENTARY sea kayaks! These are not crappy Walmart kayaks, these are real expert-grade sea kayaks. We explored Lilliwaup bay and had seals zooming by our kayaks. There were also a bunch of salmon swimming all around us. We have never experienced anything like it!
The beds are ridicoulously comfortable! We have asked the owners where they bught the sheets and beds, we want them in our home! There are two master baths with private bathrooms, which makes it perfect for two couples. Both rooms have amazinng views!
The kitchen is the most well-stocked kitchen I have ever seen in a regular home, let alone a vacation rental. They have sharp knives, great pans, multiple cutting boards, a dutch oven, Kitchen Aid mixer, food processors, and the list goes on! We loved the fresh spices and the wide variety of international sauces, vinegars, and condiments.
Hoodsport is the perfect location too! It is at the base of the Olympic National Park and is centrally located to all the places you want to visit on Hood Canal. The town has great little restuarants, wineries, distilleries, and a grocery store with everything you could want.
Lastly, the hosts were the best! They answered all of our questions and were very accomodating.
Canal Hideaway is the ONLY place we will stay on Hood Canal!

About the host
Hosted by Harley Lever
Rosalynn and Harley are two foodies, with a love of Nature, kayaking, and camping. We have used VRBO all over the country and know what we love to see in a vacation home. We want a great kitchen, beautiful view, comfortable bed, and a place to create memories. We have put our heart in making Canal Hideaway the dream vacation home based on everything we have learned at other VRBOs.
We fell in love with the Hood Canal 4 years ago when we were invited to a friend's condo. The beach was filled with oysters and the scenery was stunning. As the only fjord in the lower 48 states, Hood Canal is defined by its stunning views. The Olympic Mountains tower over the saltwater inlets which team with marine life. Seals, seal lions, salmon, and even the occasional orca make Hood Canal their home. This is exactly why we do too.
Why they chose this property
You are going to be hard-pressed to find a waterfront property anywhere on Hood Canal that has the combination of views, tidelands, large yard, and is away from highway 101. 99% of the houses on Hood Canal are homes directly on the street with cars and trucks zooming by the house. This property is over 700 feet from the road, giving you a more peaceful experience.
The house also combines the best combination of luxury finishes with the perfect rustic settings. You will enjoy granite counter tops, air conditioning, and excellent appliances while at the same time enjoying a large wrap around porch, fire pits, and kayaks.
The view changes by the minute. You can watch rainbows span the entire bay or puffy clouds whip through the fjord. Bald eagles, seals, and the occasional orca will have you scrambling for the binoculars (1 pair in each room). You really do not have to leave the property to have the most amazing time.
What makes this property unique
Air conditioning, private boat launch, 1 acre of private tidelands, and a HUGE yard! Complimentary paddleboards and sea kayaks!
