Home was spacious and beautiful with lots of thoughful touches. Beach was close by and very nice. Also convenient to popular attractions. Would definitely stay there again if we plan another vacation to that area!
This home was absolutely perfect for our family vacation! The house was even better than the photos and sparkling clean. Plenty of indoor and outdoor space and a fantastic location!
We loved the house, especially the open floor plan upstairs. It had a great setup for cooking, dining, playing games, watching movies, etc. We also enjoyed the decks and the screened in porch. The setting was quiet, which is what we wanted. We had fun exploring the beach, which was steps away. We learned alot about horseshoe crabs. Overall the location was convenient for the things we wanted to do.
Our second time staying at this house. We love the kitchen and common room - it's perfect for family get-togethers, playing games, cooking, and just hanging out.The beach is just steps away down the lovely walking path through the dunes. And the beach isn't crowded at all. Our only wish is that the beds were more comfortable. They were pretty squeaky and it was tough to sleep some nights.
We've always wanted to stay in a round-house and the property was amazing! Plenty of space for family, a short walk over beautiful dunes to the wide, beautiful beach. Perfect property for those who want to enjoy nature away from the chaos of the boardwalks. 5stars!

Relaxing week!
Great house that allowed us to relax after working all day. We were able to send time on the beach to help us unwind in the evenings.
Loved the house! Very comfortable and spacious. The washing machine was broken the entire week, which was a bummer, but other than that, we really enjoyed ourselves. Thank you!

Hi Amanda, thank you for the review. Yes, as most people understand appliances breakdown. The washer machine broke down and the owner immediately purchased a NEW one. There was a delay in delivery NOT by us but the appliance store. Sunset Rentals provided you a gift card to local restaurant group Sodel Concepts with 5 different restaurants in Lewes & Rehoboth for you to choose from. We understand it was an inconvenience and you and your family had dinner on US! Thank you! Carl
Great house. Great location. Only complaint which is no fault to property… flies. We were eaten alive on the beach.

Great unique beach house, great location!
We had an amazing week at Broadkill Beach - the house is large and well appointed with everything you could need, even down to beach chairs and sand toys. The round great room is so unique - it was especially amazing on 4th of July to watch fireworks being set off on the beach from both sides of the house through the wrap-around windows. Furniture and furnishings are newer and nice. Overall, we highly recommend this beach house and plan to stay again!

Overall good stay in a Great location but needed better cleaning
This house has gorgeous bones, in a fantastic location. It’s in a quiet, very private beach town and the beach is just steps away. Our family of 7 had a good stay overall. However, cleanliness when we checked in was not up to par. The floors were dusty and crumby, the dining table had crumbs on it, the carpeted stairs left marks all over our socks. We did find slightly more amenities/necessities than the listing information had me believe (dish soap/sponge, trash bags, TP, hand soap, etc).

Hi Catalina, thank you for submitting a review on this rental property. In the front sleeve of our house binder is big note in YELLOW for any maintenance or repair issues. We have no record of any correspondence from Catalina related to a cleaning issue. We would have been happy to request the cleaner stop back at the house. Thank you! Carl
The house is very unique! The living room area is round! And huge! It is filled with comfortable furniture, a large dining table, a place to play cards, and stools by the kitchen counter to chat while cooking!
Kitchen is stocked so in-house cooking was easy. A screened in porch made eating enjoyable.
The property is clean and close to the beach. A short walk over the dunes gets you to the bay beaches where you can watch the crabs run to and fro.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the round house!
The property itself was very nice with a beautiful view and location. Rooms were all very nice with beautiful spacious decks. Place definitely needs some updating to the downstairs deck and stairs going from the first floor to the ground. Mattresses for beds could have been better and more comfortable. Cleanliness of the inside could have been much better. The outside area yard could have been mowed of groomed much better. Some of the blinds were nonfunctional or broken. The bedrooms could have had blackout blinds so people could sleep in a little without being bothered by the sunrise. All around good experience. If these things that I listed were fixed or enhanced, I would stay here yearly. Especially the beds. People need to feel like they are in their own beds. Especially the master bedroom. And TVs in the other 2 bedrooms would also enhance people’s time.

Thank you for the review and WOW first time I've received a review stating, "People need to feel like they are in their own beds." I mean with all the different types of beds out there how could even determine that? Yes, throughout the season window blinds do break and we replace them regularly. Regarding the outside area. I'd just like to clarify for potential renters reading this. This house is 3rd from the beach. It's ALL sand around it. There is no grass to mow. Once again, thank you for the review and glad you enjoyed your stay.
My husband and I and our English Bulldog had a lovely end of summer vacation here. The house is modern but cozy - we loved cooking in the large open kitchen and sitting out on the various decks and there is a nice gas grill right off the deck near the kitchen which we used as often as we could. We were so close to the beach that we spent part of every day there. Broadkill Beach is large but very quiet and residential, so there was plenty of privacy - even better, it's dog friendly, so we enjoyed bringing the pooch there too! The bed was super comfortable in the master suite and the house was well appointed. Some minor suggestions for the owners is to get some updated pans for cooking, some more wine glasses, and provide an iron and ironing board. All in all, a wonderful getaway - would definitely recommend this house!

Hi Michelle,
Thank you for the review..... There was an iron in the laundry closet. Sometimes theses these items disappear over time especially wine glasses. We'll definitely look into during the next change over.
Thank you Again!

We had a great 4th of July week in the round house. It was my girlfriend and I with my teen boys and my sister with her 3 teenagers. We really loved the top floor and the views of the bay from the top floor. Also the great space on the top floor for family gatherings and meals. It was a short walk to the beach and we loved having a bonfire on the beach and watching fireworks on the 4th. The mosquitoes can be bad at times walking over the dunes and under the house around the shower but we knew about that ahead of time. So we did not use the outside shower much. I would suggest a privacy screen to put across where the bunk beds are located since there is no door there. But overall we had a great time.
The house is big and has everything you need. Proximity to beach is good. 3 houses from the entrance to the dunes followed by about a 50 yard dune parth. Outdoor shower is great. 2 issues we encountered were that the place was very sandy. We needed to sweep up all the sand in everyroom. There was even sand on one of the beds. I did mention this to the owner and he said he would contact the cleaning service. 2nd issue is mosquitoes. If the wind is blowing the wrong direction or not at all, then make sure you have good bug spray. As a side note, the location is about 20 minutes from any shopping or restaurants. This is a good place for a family that does not go out often.

Hi Chad, thank you for the review.... Would like to clarify a couple items. This house is at the beach (actually 3rd house from the beach) and beach does have sand. I reached out to the cleaning company and addressed the sand with them. And yes when the wind blows out of the west you will have flies and mosquitos. Most of the time it blows off the water but occasionally it does come from the west. Same thing happens in Lewes. Thank you Again!
This location is excellent for the family that wants to get away and RELAX. The unit is spacious in the event you have a large amount of people with you on your vacation. It is a short 5 min walk to the beach(Delaware Bay) but even this area is not the commotion of the large resort/tourist area which makes it all that much more relaxing. Understand that is a little bit of a ride if you are looking to head to any of the resort/tourist areas. The 1st floor living is great and each room was nicely furnished with very comfortable beds. The Unit was very clean upon arrival. Plenty of board games for family get togethers for an enjoyable game playing evening. There were plenty of sand toys, tubes and if needed boogie boards in the "shed". Tricky to notice, it is the structure base of the AC Unit. There were 3 bikes during our rental. This made going for short ride to the general store(1/2 mile) a quick and easy trip. The outside shower was great, it is a perfect size, and water pressure was great. We had one little "hiccup". We brought firesticks for the TV so that we could just utilize our streaming apps for evening time or not hassling to sign in via other TV's. For some reason just got a blank screen when utilizing the upstairs TV, but communicated with the Rental Agent and was given permission to factory reset the tv and this worked. All in all, communication was great with the agent, it was a spacious and clean unit, relaxing and quite area. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

The house was very nice, very clean but we had an issue that hopefully will the full review below
This house was beautiful. The upstairs grand room was perfect to keep the whole family together, while doing separate things. The view was spectacular. The bedrooms were big enough, everything was in good shape. Even the corners didn't have cobwebs! The walk to the beach wasn't too far. It was easy to leave for lunch then head back. The only issue we had and I leave this as a warning to other renters (hoping this isn't a scam).......when we arrived the ceiling fan blade, in the middle bedroom, was broke and hanging. It previously was repaired with Scotch tape which you could clearly see and a shade in the master bedroom was ripped at the top if the window. Since the relator (who happens to be the son of the home owner) said they do an extensive walk through after each guest leaves, noting damage, we assumed it was noted and not able to be fix immediately. We left the broken items alone. We got called in the late afternoon on the day we left stating we damaged the ceiling fan. We understood they had our deposit so there wasn't much we could do to get it back. Even though we assured them we didn't break it, we were charged for the fan blade. If you rent this beautiful home, please make sure fan blades are not broken! We don't want to see anyone else falsely accused and your full deposit not returned!

PLEASE READ RESPONSE: As the owner’s representative I would like to clarify your claim about a SCAM. We are NOT in the business to scam guests. Over the past 4 years of doing weekly rentals we’ve ONLY had to withhold a security deposit TWICE. It’s not something we like or want to do. And of course each time we did withhold a security deposit the guest wrote a bad review. Is it fair to the owner? Absolutely not! As mentioned in the review above our weekly rentals are thoroughly cleaned. The guest even stated, “Even the corners didn’t have cobwebs” When each party leaves on Saturday not only does the owner walk the house but also our cleaners look over everything. When the damage was noticed (broken ceiling fan blade) by the cleaners and brought to the owner’s attention I immediately called the guests about it. The guest claimed it was like that before yet all 3 cleaners and owner didn’t see it the previous week. After speaking with the guest I circled back to the cleaners and asked again to make sure this was the first time noticing the damaged fan blade. The question I asked the guest later that day, “if you didn’t break the fan blade why not let us know it was damaged when you saw it?” We’ve had hundreds of guests stay with us and everyone sends me a text / email if they notice anything in the house so they are not responsible. From our prospective, the fan blade was not reported broken AND the guest tried to tape it together to conceal the damage done. Now anyone reading this response is probably thinking what’s the big deal about a fan blade? As we found out these are expensive Casablanca fans. The fan blades are actually fishing rods. This model of fan has been discontinued. What is not stated in the review is the length the owner went to TRY to mitigate the security deposit being withheld. If it was a SCAM as stated above would the owner spend 2 days on the phone tracking down a “pre-owned” fan blade that cost a fraction of what a new blade would have? By the way, while the owner was researching the fan blade the guest sent me a text from the Casablanca fan website stating, “since the fabric or hardware was not damaged, it should only cost $69 or $76, depending on the style.” Again, this text confirmed to us this guest broke the fan blade. If you didn’t break it why send that text? We go by the honor system, if you break something please let us know. Depending on the item broken on several occasions we've withheld NOTHING from sec deposit
This is our 5th visit to Broadkill beach, and another great vacation. If you don’t know about this unique area, you can find some good descriptions on the web. This house is located on the more developed northern half of the beach, with several homes sharing a beach access point. The beach here is wide with a beautiful natural dune, just steps from the house. On a weekday in June, we usually had a couple of hundred yards of beach to ourselves. Uncrowded beaches are one of the main reasons to come to Broadkill.
The home is awesome as promised in the description. I was able to watch the sunrise from the top floor. The house has 4 outdoor decks, one which is screened in, which was a great feature. The bedrooms have lots of windows and get very bright at sunrise, so you might want to bring sleep masks. The property manager (a realtor) was professional and responsive.
The house was minimally appointed in terms of games, books, movies, kitchenware, and beach gear relative to other places we have stayed. Everything was as promised, but other places we have stayed were better outfitted. In particular, other VRBOs always had several beach chairs and umbrellas. If you are coming from the city in a small car (like us), this could be an issue. The kitchenware was generally minimal and needs updating. These things could be fixed by the owner with a single trip to Target/Costco. There were a lot of childrens sand toys (e.g. buckets and shovels) and firewood was provided, enabling us to have a bonfire on the beach, which was downright magical.
Overall, a great vacation house.

Broadkill Beach Round House review
The house itself is lovely and comfortable, with great amenities. The location a short walk from the beach was perfect. But the place was not clean, especially the kitchen. We had to clean it on the first night before we could use it. There was a swarm of ants that the property manager had made an ineffective attempt to eradicate. We finally got rid of them after about 3 days, including a considerable amount of time deep cleaning. The cabinets where the ants were swarming were filthy (we found an open bag of coffee with a 2011 sell-by date). There were small puddles of dried grease in one of the cabinets. There was hair everywhere including in the refrigerator and freezer and on the floor. The main eating and food prep counter had been superficially cleaned, if at all. A rental office representative told me that they could have sent the cleaning crew back, but that would have been impractical since we arrived on Sat night and couldn't use the kitchen as we found it. We also would not have wanted a cleaning crew to disrupt our stay for cleaning that should have been done before we arrived. To be fair, it's a big house to clean in the 5 hours between checkout and checkin time. Evidently they need a much bigger and attentive crew. The dishwasher stopped working on the first night. Just unlucky, I guess. Needed a new part, on order, so we had no DW for our stay (not the landlord's fault, though). The wifi dropped a few times, requiring us to unplug and replug the router.

Stephen,
We appreciate receiving reviews and always looking to do better. However, this particular review needs some clarifications. First, the houses are always cleaned in between each rental group. Our staff is present in the house while the cleaners are there. Our SUNSET RENTALS staff walks every property once the renters have vacated on Saturday morning. We do on occasion have items missed during a cleaning (the cleaners are human) and we’re ALWAYS happy to have the cleaners come back. The above review states, "A rental office representative told me that they could have sent the cleaning crew back, but that would have been impractical since we arrived on Sat night and couldn't use the kitchen as we found it." Sunset Rentals was NEVER informed of any cleaning issue when the renter arrived on Saturday or even the next day. Again, I would have immediately contacted the cleaning company and had them come back. We were notified via text message on Sunday @ 1:14PM about the dishwasher not working and had the appliance repairman at the house at 9AM on Monday.
Lastly and most important clarification about this review is the person writing it did NOT stay in the house. Stephen requested a refund for the dog fee since he was UNABLE to come to the house due to death in the family. I’ve cut and pasted Stephen’s message directly from the VRBO message board, “Good morning, Carl. I wanted to repeat my request, which I texted a couple days ago, for a refund of the pet fee. I know you are under no obligation to do so, but I would be very grateful if you do. Do to the death of my mother-in-law, we were not able to enjoy your house. Instead of 8 of us plus the dog, there are only 4 of us. That's the way it goes some times. Whatever your decision, I ask that you let me know what it is. Thanks, Stephen.” I’m proud to state after discussing with the owner of the property, SUNSET RENTALS did provide Stephen with a refund for the dog fee. We understand it was a difficult time and thought it was the right thing to do. It’s really disappointing to receive a review from someone that did not stay in the house and that we thought we did right by refunding the dog fee. Since receiving this review I’ve met with our cleaners to make sure our cleaning protocols are being met in all the properties we manage. Thank you!
This house is huge and comfortably fit 2 families. We had a great stay and great weather. This is our 4th year vacationing in the area and we love the seclusion on the beach.
We had a wonderful time. The house exceeded our needs. Our favorite part of the house was the large open concept living room, dining room, kitchen and the screened in porch.
