About this property

150m² Architect House -Charming Village- Terrace, Historic Courtyard & Parking

A UNIQUE HISTORICAL SETTING
Welcome to the historic grounds of the former Castle of La Garde-Adhémar, a village ranked among the "Most Beautiful Villages of France." This architect-designed home offers a privileged view of the Renaissance Tower from its private terrace, along with a reserved parking space.

In June and July, our village becomes one of the region's premier spots to admire the vast surrounding lavender fields in full bloom. You can also stroll through the famous Jardin des Herbes (awarded the "Remarkable Garden" label by the Ministry of Culture), located just a few steps from the house.

CONTEMPORARY LINES & ANCIENT STONE CHARM
Spanning 150 sq.m., the house boasts an exceptional location in the heart of the medieval village. Entirely renovated by an architect, it seamlessly blends the character of centuries-old stone with sleek, modern design. It is nestled within the grand courtyard of the 16th-century Renaissance castle built by Baron Antoine Escalin. Though partially destroyed after the Revolution, the majestic Tower, original enclosure walls, and entrance porch still stand today.

COMFORT & AMENITIES
While we designed this home to comfortably accommodate up to 4 guests, it is also a perfect sanctuary for a couple seeking space and tranquility. An adjusted base rate allows two guests to enjoy the full property, with options to welcome additional guests if needed.

The house is distributed over three levels.

THE DINING ROOM: A FAMILY STORY (Ground Floor)
The ground floor features a spacious living area that opens onto the courtyard and connects to the south-facing kitchen. A large sliding glass partition allows you to either close off the kitchen or keep the spaces open and flowing.

The dining room blends eras and memories:

Family Heritage: The bistro tables and the glass display cabinet once belonged to the owner’s grandmother’s grocery bar—a local landmark until the 1970s.

Curated Design: A vintage Scandinavian sideboard completes this authentic ensemble.

Relaxation Corner: Two comfortable armchairs face the courtyard, perfect for unwinding with a book while gazing at the Tower.

A GOURMET’S KITCHEN
Often highlighted by our guests as the highlight of their stay: everything is provided to cook "just like at home." This kitchen, featuring its original solid wood flooring and a central island, is fully equipped with: American fridge-freezer, dishwasher, oven, induction hob, Nespresso machine, microwave, Le Creuset cast iron casserole, De Buyer pans...

The Signature Piece: A stunning vintage Berkel scale from the family grocery store takes pride of place.

Culinary Library: A selection of cookbooks is at your disposal to help you sublimate local products, from Drôme black truffles to fine Côtes-du-Rhône wines.

PRACTICAL AMENITIES: THE UTILITY ROOM (Ground Floor)
Discreetly located, a utility room (pantry/laundry) provides extra convenience:

Laundry & Storage: Equipped with a washing machine and additional storage space for your groceries.

Convenience: A separate toilet (WC) is also located here, so you don't have to go upstairs during the day.

Pro-tip: A drying rack and outdoor laundry lines are available on the terrace. It is a very efficient way to dry your clothes in record time, especially when the Mistral wind is blowing!

REST & RELAXATION
On the 1st floor, a lounge with a large corner sofa and two armchairs offers a breathtaking view of the courtyard and the castle ruins. Explore our eclectic library (literature, novels, art books) or browse our regional guides to discover the secrets of Drôme Provençale.
Note: For safety and preservation reasons, the wood-burning stove is decorative only and not for guest use.

TWO INDEPENDENT SUITES (1st & 2nd Floors)

1st Floor Suite: A beautiful, fully independent master suite (Queen Size bed 160x200) with a dressing area and private bathroom. South-facing, it offers a peaceful panorama over the countryside, with the silhouette of Mont Ventoux visible on clear days.

2nd Floor Suite: A spacious and quiet attic suite (open to the staircase). It features its own bathroom and modular bedding (one 160x200 bed or two 80x200 single beds). For your comfort, it is equipped with an electric Velux (remote-controlled blackout and opening) and ample storage.

PREMIUM COMFORT
Water Softener (installed in 2025): A rare luxury in the region, ensuring soft water for your skin and hair, and perfect flavor for your coffee and tea.

Climate Control: Reversible air conditioning and Wi-Fi.

Multimedia: Sonos Hi-Fi system and Smart TV with Freebox (international channels) and easy access to streaming (Netflix, Prime, Disney+, etc.).

The "Plus": Window screens (moustiquaires) throughout, allowing you to enjoy the cool Provencal night air undisturbed.

Included: All linens, towels, and kitchen cloths are provided.

TERRACE & GARAGE
To make your stay as easy as possible, a private garage located right next to the terrace is at your full disposal.
Secure Storage: An ideal space to safely store your bicycles, strollers, or outdoor gear [not designed for parking a car].

Terrace Living: You will have exclusive use of the terrace. We provide full garden furniture, sun loungers, and Lafuma recliners. It is the perfect setting for outdoor meals under the natural shade of the large mulberry tree at the foot of the ramparts, accompanied by the song of the cicadas in summer.

GUEST ACCESS & HOSTS
Guests have a private and reserved parking space in the inner courtyard. This large courtyard is shared between three properties: ours, the owner's family, and a neighboring house located behind a closed gate. This space allows for residents' occasional parking and offers the convenience of private parking for our guests. It is a peaceful area where quiet and silence are requested, as noted by a small sign.

Passionate about our region, we are delighted to share our best local recommendations (gastronomy, culture, heritage). However, your peace and privacy remain our absolute priority.

EXPLORING LA GARDE-ADHÉMAR
Dominating the Rhône Valley from its limestone spur, La Garde-Adhémar is a postcard-perfect setting. With its paved calades, vaulted passages, and medieval heritage, this hilltop village is an invitation to travel.

The Village Heart: The typical square, the bistro de pays, the local grocery store, and the essential jeu de boules.

Saint-Michel Church: A jewel of Provencal Romanesque art with an incredible atmosphere. From here, enjoy the view overlooking the Jardin des Herbes, stretching across the Rhône Valley to the Vivarais mountains in Ardèche.

The Jardin des Herbes: A French-style garden with over 160 species of medicinal plants.

Val des Nymphes: A short hike leads to this ancient, mysterious site featuring a Romanesque chapel and millennial springs.

Nearby Highlights: Eric Linard Gallery, Château de Grignan, Suze-la-Rousse Wine University, Aiguebelle Abbey, and the Roman bridge of Nyons.
