In the Heart of Old Destin. Sunchase town-homes are the original highly-desired beaches of Destin, and you can't get a better seat. You will be within walking distance to some of Destin's favorite Restaurants. 1 block from the Whales Tale There's no pool here, but the ocean is all yours. Just step off your deck onto your own beach.

A 5 min drive of outlet malls, many restaurants, and other retail shopping. Want to go to the Destin Harbor, then give yourself ten minutes driving time, and you're there.

Purchased in 2013 this newly remodeled unit is a 'no smoking, no pets. It has 2 Bedrooms which sleep between two to eight people. The unit comes fully equipped has a King Size master bedroom overlooking the ocean with a private balcony. The guest bedroom has a queen bed and twin bed with trundle bed. The guest bedroom also has its own full bath, lastly, a foldout queen in the living room with half bath provides three separate private sleeping spaces. There is a full kitchen and 2.5 baths. It comes with a 3 Flatscreen TV's including a 55' in the living room and a DVD Player. The Full Kitchen is equipped with appliances, dishes, silverware, and cookware. There are linens, towels, and a private Washer / Dryer for your convenience in the master bedroom for your convenience.

The two private balconies are equipped with chairs for a relaxing evenings in the breeze. A gated private staircase allows all renters direct access to the beach and first floor balcony with an outdoor shower and beach chairs to take to the beach, The scenery is complete with both a breathtaking view of the Gulf and the sounds of the waves breaking on the beach.

The Master bedroom is next to the ocean so you can hear the waves even with the doors closed.

There is one designated parking spot for this rental that accommodates 2 standard cars, and it is directly in front of the unit.

Beach Time
The scenery is complete with both a breathtaking view of the Gulf and the sounds of the waves breaking on the beach. Play in the beach all day and rinse off in the outdoor shower.

Lastly, no more looking for the perfect beach spot since the unit is deeded all the beach to to the water!

The place is in a great location. It was comfortable but I think the bedding and towels should be maybe replaced with a better quality. The master is nice.

Everything about the location is perfect. The only knock on the place is the stove top barely gets hot enough to even cook anything and the ice maker didnt work

Oven was beeping and turned on warming mode all by itself. I must say that the owner was fast in answering the issue, but it was a problem. The location was great! Our keyless entry number was not working when we got there, but thankfully the owner was quick to give us correct number.

The lowest standards in that area

Amazing location and everything was there- only most things were the lowest standard of acceptable. I was surprised that the mold didn't bother me, but it sure seems like you could spray with some bleach water to remove it from all of the registers. Seems like it should be half price...but we love the area and we still had a great visit. Loved the umbrella being available.

Amazing Location!

Sticks in the Sand is a no frills condo right on the beach. It is on the second floor of the building so it is not an appropriate rental for young children or the elderly as you have to climb 3 flights when you are coming up from the beach. You cannot beat the location. Truly steps from an uncrowded beach with a Circle K right across the street for all your ice and snack needs. The condo is dated but appears to be clean, however, the reason this review is 4 stars is because we did see several cockroaches outside on the porch and one in the upstairs bedroom. If you don’t need anything fancy and love the beach this is the place for you!

Great location to beach, older condo, needs deep cleaning and update

We loved that the condo was steps from the beach. We stayed upstairs so if you have health problems or pregnant as my daughter was here, this would not be ideal. The condo needed a MAJOR deep cleaning, The couch was old and stained so we put a sheet over it for our stay, black finger prints on the sides of the doors, and numerous black hairs, as well as cut fingernails in the bathroom floor. If the condo was updated and cleaner I would stay here next time. The grill was rusty and had not been maintained. Would not stay here again.

The property is so dated and smells moldy!

The location was great but the unit too old , moldy and dirty. The showers had no pressure so we had to use a bowl to shower. The unit as soon you get to the stairs it smells moldy. The doors were sticky. Beds so uncomfortable. The A/C was always going up and it wasn’t cooling properly.The only thing we enjoyed was the location. Too bad that is such a good location and it’s sad that they don’t know how to take care of the property. The property it’s so dated.

We really enjoyed our stay because the beach was our main attraction however if your hauling a Trailer be prepared to go through some maneuvering to get in and out of your vehicle and trailer other then that we had a great time!! The owner did work with us on parking it in the maintenance area so that wasn’t too bad! You have very little parking and yeah the place is a little dated and the mold smell is present but we mainly stayed on the beach so not a bad place all in all .! A mouse got in our bread which had me looking around for the little critter . We contacted the owner and he came right over to put in fresh bait . Mice are a protected species at the beach . Why who’s knows but we enjoyed the top deck and the private beach.!

Needs a lot of help

Location was great but it was definitely not clean. I typically don’t complain but owning rental properties ourselves this unit shouldn’t be rented until somethings are fixed, not bandaged up. I read previous reviews before staying about mold and it’s still there. They aren’t truly fixing any issues. We ended up leaving a day early because we just weren’t comfortable. King bed was terrible, we had a mouse that got into our food, it smelled damp and moldy, and was just not clean. The owner was very responsive which was great but couldn’t fix all the issues that this place has in one visit. Things need replacing. Unfortunately we won’t be coming back.

Absolutely loved how close it was to the beach! The best by far. Not crazy about all those stairs lol. Older property with upgrades but overall no complaints. Had an awesome week!

Great location 🏖🐬

Property does need some tlc. But we enjoyed it either way. The location was perfect and the beach steps away, saw dolphins from the room. The Circle K was across the street and allowed us to shop for any needs that came up. The location was also in between two bars on the beach, Whales Tail and Pompanos with Whales Tail just a quick walk away via the beach or road. If you are looking for a no frills stay near the beach this is it! We will definitely be back. There were more positives than negatives, parking could be an issue if traveling with two cars but we managed and this was communicated by the owner prior to arrival.

Pros and Cons

The location is very convenient being directly on the beach and was probably the highlight of the place, and the condo itself was cute. However, the beds were not comfortable at all, I looked forward to leaving to get home to my own bed. Also, we experienced parking issues as you have very limited parking. We had 2 cars and had to park bumper to bumper behind each other and very close to neighbors cars and the busy street, so our car got hit by someone elses car-door. Then one night after coming back, someone was parked in our spot. We tried locating the owner but was unsuccessful. So we didn't have parking that night and had to park down the street. Also, we were at the beach when I noticed someone was inside of our condo, so we went to check it out and it was maintenance. We did not like that we were not notified that they would be coming, as we had all our personal belongings out such as wallet and purse and such, so that made us very uncomfortable that they just showed up without notice.

I absolutely loved the location! The townhouse was beautiful, clean, and spacious.

This was the perfect Vrbo rental for my crew and I. It was very clean, direct access to the beach, and plenty of restaurants and stores surrounding the property. I will definitely book again.

Summer family getaway was a success!

Overall good stay. They have a lot of beach items in storage for guest to use. No need to bring anything. Parking was tricky and tight with 2 SUVs. And anyone staying here needs to know there are a lot of stairs!

SITS unit 4A - Nice

Nice place especially for a small group. It is right on the beach. Amenities were good. Unit 4A, is on the upper floor. You have to walk up several stairs to get into the unit and up several stairs for the bedrooms. Then down several (31) stairs when you go onto the beach (can not get a large ice chest down the stairs). Thankfully my (older) mother is in good shape and could walk the stairs. All and all, beautiful scenery. Accommodations are all there. We had a wonderful time in Destin. Appreciate them sharing their beach home with us.

Nice Vacation

This is a renovated older condo with a beautiful view, check in and out was easy, it was clean and a great little vacation getaway spot for our family. There was construction going on in the condo next door, which was a little annoying but wasn’t too disturbing as we weren’t in the condo much during their work hours, it’s located right in the middle of all the tourist attractions which was handy, but of course that also means lots of traffic noise. We did end up leaving early because the people who owned the condos 2 doors down were very rude to us “since we were only renters” and on the beach they insisted we moved even though we were clearly on the area designated for our condo. The weather was beautiful, we saw dolphins from the deck and from the beach everyday, and a shark too. Other than the neighbors and some traffic and construction it was a great vacation.

We are not professional renters. We started renting because James's originally purchased a home on the beach and for years he rented out the first floor since he only needed half the space.. We call it Sticks in the Sand because it is on pylons on the beach. Now married with 3 children we have continued to add our rental offerings . Due to the success of the original Sticks in the Sand, We now have 4 townhomes to rent! We have studio 1,2,3 bedroom units and continue to hope to provide our homes for families to enjoy..

Why they chose this property

The units are close to everything, walking distance to a bar/restaurant and directly on the beach with private ownership all the way to the water. . The townhome can be rented 3 ways, a 2 bedroom (Listing #586496) , Studio unit (Listing #586493) or if you need more space you can rent it as a 3 bedroom 2.5 bath unit by renting them both. So it was perfect to maintain all my renters in one location

What makes this property unique

Centrally located between Destin, Baytown and Sandestin. I provide everything you need from child toys, chairs and your own piece of private beach to enjoy. There is an outdoor shower to rinse off in and two flat panels to relax indoors. Perfect for a couples getaway, a small family or group of friends. Sleep where you can hear the waves and not see the cars!
