I have to raise my rates. It's been nine years since I have done this, but the time has finally come. Due to the insane cost of every single thing, the punishing cost of energy and the bloodthirsty increases in my property tax, I am left no choice. This increase, of course, will not apply to the many folks who have already booked in advance.
My new rate will be a minimum of $200/night, which will cover up to four guests. Additional guests will be charged $50/person/night. There will be 10% added to the total bill to cover state sales and county lodging taxes. ____________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________
Comfortable year-round, completely furnished home on 135' Rainy River Frontage on calm bay, with large private deep water dock. {1/2 mile to Public Boat Landing}
This is a very old house - nothin' fancy, a fishing cabin on the river with a lot of wear and tear. If you're looking for something freshly remodeled with knotty pine, this is NOT it. There are plenty of those for you to choose from. Also, the dead cat is not for sale. Please quit asking.
Huge deck, outdoor screened sitting room, great views of Rainy River and Canada.
I now have WiFi in the cabin.
The water comes from a well. It is very hard water and there is a lot of iron in it-something to consider before washing any whites. I wash all of the towels and linens off-site. Some people bring their own water to drink. I drink from the well and I'm still alive. Take that for what it's worth. I drink it but I don't vouche for it. Some people simply drink beer the entire time. Whatever works.
If there's bait in the freezer, you're welcome to use it.
Due to insurance reasons, I no longer have a fireplace. My insurance company also suggested (demanded) I build a railing on the deck, so I did. I have not uploaded recent photos so just look at the photos above and picture a railing around the deck.
This is fishing at it's best, year-round. Walleye/Sauger, Sturgeon, Pike, Muskie, Small & Large Mouth Bass, jumbo Crappie & Perch. Longest open fishing season in Minnesota; Walleye/Sauger--Mid May thru mid April. Pike, Bass, Crappie & Perch--Continuous. The Rainy River is the gateway to Lake Of The Woods {4 miles from house} a Minnesota/Canadian border lake, with 65,000 miles of shoreline, and 14,000+ sheltered Islands.
Easy direct Snowmobile/ATV access to river from property. Rental for boats/motors, Fish Houses & Snowmobiles nearby. Charter Boats/ Guide Service also available nearby. FLY-IN...6 miles from airport, 5500' Lighted blacktop runway, GPS Approach, {ILS - July 2008} FBO - Maintenance & 24 HR. Fuel. Car Rental.
My check-out time is 10:00 am and my check-in time is 4:00 pm. Please do not plan on arriving early unless prior arrangements are made.
It has been scientifically proven, through exhaustive clinical testing, that it is good luck to leave booze in the cabin.

Cabin was warm and cozy. The view to the frozen river was beautiful. We watched deer walk by one evening. The kitchen and dining setup was nice. Some of the beds we not comfortable for large men. The were short and leaned one way. For the money it worked out fine for our group of retired guys.
Perfect location for our fishing needs. Home has a lot of space and much of what you’d need in the kitchen. House is due for a deep clean for the usual end of season cabin items and a few fix ups. It is very serviceable as is.
Great fishing cabin with several beds for a lake of the woods getaway. Beautiful deck area right on the river facing east for beautiful sunrises!Host was very communicative and helpful, highly recommend!
Stayed for a week and loved every bit of it! Best location on Rainy River. Tucked inside Wabanica Bay with an amazing view and sunrise/sunsets. Plan on going back next year!
Curt’s property is a perfect place for a fishing trip. It’s right on the river with a dock, and has Internet and everything we needed. We’ll be booking again if available, thanks Curt!
