House had a very bad musty moldy smell. Pictures of the listing need to be updated. The furnace filter was very bad and was having hard time blowing we replaced the filter. The house was at 80 degrees when we arrived . lake access would've been nice. we were there for business the house was worked ok for us but i wouldn't want it for vacation.

It looked like a great place to stay in the summer.
It was decent. The beds were comfortable. There was only one small coffee pot that looked like what you would see in a motel room. The fire pit was very nice. But a bigger television would have been nice. All in all, it was a pleasurable stay.
My husband and I with our friends and their 4 year-old son really enjoyed staying at this house! It was very comfortable and well stocked with amenities. The deck on the back of the house has been enlarged since the pictures were taken and looks twice as big - and the fire pit is quite large and we used it both nights (and made s'mores). We visited Mammoth Cave which was an easy drive from this house.
Great communication with owner. Being the beginning of spring, was very nice for owner to leave wood bundles for us to use. Loved having 3 bathrooms. Plenty of towels and linens. Very nice kitchen and large frig for our groceries. Loved sitting out side and watching the boat traffic on the river.
We had a fabulous stay. I didn't look well at pics and found out the hard way it wasn't handicap accessible. But its all good, we had a time we'll never forget. The memories will last a lifetime. Thank you for making possible for us to have a great time.
Over-all happy with our stay. My only complaint is I don’t think the listing was very clear that it didn’t have lake access. But it was clean, comfortable, had nice bedrooms, bathrooms and a beautiful deck, yard & fire pit. Recommend for those who don’t prefer lake access.
The cottage worked out great for our annual National Park vacation. This year we visited Mammoth Cave, and the cottage location was located about 30/45 minutes away and worked out precfectly for our needs - a comfortable place to sleep and relax after a day of cave tours (which are all awesome) and enjoy a nightcap on the deck overlooking the lake. One thing, if you plan on doing any cooking or grilling you will need to bring all the supplies, including condiments and seasoning, other then that, I would recommend the Lake House to anyone wishing staying the area. We enjoyed are stay and if we ever return to the area, we would stay here again.
Thanks for sharing your cottage with our family.
My husband and I, with our 5 and 7 year old enjoyed our stay. The living room was a highlight of the place, with its long back wall, lined with large windows, overlooking lake Nolan. The place is clean and well maintained with enough space for each family never to have their secluded down times and private bathrooms. Kids loved the small amenities of extra books and games.
Will likely revisit and recommend to friends.
Thanks for everything!
The 3 bedrooms and 3 baths were awesome! The kitchen was large as was the living room/dining room combo! It was a great experience overall!
Some reviews said 20 minutes to Mammoth Cave entrance, but that is just to one of the park’s entry points. The visitor’s center and cave tours are about an hour away. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to get there.
Great family weekend! I definitely recommend this place!

The house was great wish we had access to the lake for fishing. One thing I noticed is there was no grocery stores within a 30min. Drive so u have to stock up on what u need before u go
I’ve never booked a VRBO but decided to try it to book a fun weekend lake getaway with my husband and two teenagers. It was nice that we each had our own bedrooms and bathrooms. The kitchen and living room space was adequate.
Unfortunately, we all had stiff backs from the uncomfortable mattresses, which is why there is no place like home. :)
What was most disappointing was seeing that the next door neighbors had direct access to the lake with their own private dock but this property has not done the same. Building a dock to swim and fish off of is needed.
This is a great lake house if you want lake views, but don't want to access the lake. The property is beautiful, the house is large enough and relaxing and the neighborhood is quiet. The host was quick to respond and very friendly.
What I suggest for a potential renters: read the reviews (I did not) and didn't realize there was no direct access to the lake from the property. I also think given the number of complaints about this, the property description should state as such.
It's a good 40 minutes to Mammoth Caves, not 17 as mentioned in the description. If you're going to the caves, be sure to plan accordingly.
It was clean to the eye, but we did notice some minor issues (dead, dried bugs in the bathrooms, small stains on the towels and pillow shams, etc.) that could've been cleaned properly and made for a nicer stay.
As long as you manage your expectations, you'll enjoy your stay.

Layout of the house and communication were nice. The view was stunning. We weren't able to stay in the house we booked the first night because the keypad lock was out of batteries. The owner answered the phone right away and arranged for us to stay at her other, nearby property just for that first night. They fixed the lock the next morning and we moved back to the house on the lake.As others have mentioned, the listing is not clear that you do not have lake access. The property has a steep hill before the lake and no dock, but the neighbors were totally fine with us using their dock. Also as others have mentioned, there was a strong musty smell in the house. We were also disappointed with the cleanliness of the space. There was visible mold in the master bath, piles of dust and tons of cobwebs around the bed in the master bedroom, and drips of something behind the toilet in the master bath. (We found a brown recluse in the closet, no big deal but that's why we checked under the bed). There was a smoke detector in the master bath that had the battery compartment popped out, when we pushed it back in it became apparent that a previous guest must have popped the battery out because it made an awful screeching sound when properly in place.Overall, we're glad we ended up at the other property for the first night and didn't stay two nights here. Communication and location were fantastic, but listing accuracy, cleanliness, and safety (smoke detector) were disappointing.
Overall, it was a fun space to stay. Views overlooking the lake were great. The set up was nice. The surrounding area wasn’t stellar but it was fine and felt safe. My family enjoyed our stay and would stay again.
Great place to stay to visit mammoth cave hike or kayak. Loved that each bedroom had a bathroom. Loved that there was a high chair and a pac n play, especially since ours somehow was left at home.
