Overall we loved our stay at Falcon's View. It is a beautiful house with an incredible view and proximity to anything you could want to do. Were it not for the things I'm about to mention, this would have been a 5 star experience, without a doubt. 1.) Before even arriving to the house we were informed that we can't use the jacuzzi tubs. This would have been helpful to know on booking, as having them as part of the listing (in pictures and print) is misleading and false advertisement. Yes, the hot tub is great and we were able to use it just fine, but still. 2.) The house has a carpenter bee infestation in the roof above the upstairs deck. At one point, I counted 6 separate carpenter bees, but we think there are several more. Carpenter bees look similar to bumble bees but they are not the same, and there are 2 very different and important reasons. The first is that carpenter bees like to dive bomb. They are territorial and they protect their space by dive bombing you or flying aggressively around your head. The second important distinction is that, while they don't do it often, carpenter bees, unlike bumble bees, can and DO sting. Mostly they just like to be irritating, but they will sting if you push them far enough. What this meant was that we were completely unable to use either of the patios from about the hours of 11am to 7pm daily (when the bees are active). So, no lunches or dinners on the gorgeous patio in the beautiful weather. :( We are hiking/camping types and don't mind bugs, but a carpenter bee infestation is not just a random fly, bee, or wasp. The owner needs to address the problem, not only so people can use the deck, but also so they don't damage the house (can cause extensive damage to wood). 3.) There are rodents/pests in the walls/attic storage space. Want to guarantee that your guests won't sleep at night? Just have some sort of rodent problem in your walls and attic space! Every single night we listened to the scratchings & scramblings of rodents in the walls/attic space. They could be heard in the attic storage space next to the master bedroom and in the walls behind the headboard of the downstairs bedroom. VERY off putting. 4.) Just some general housekeeping. The beds are bad, creaky mattresses that make SO much noise, not enough toilet paper provided (we bought our own and left the extra). I want to be clear that if these things are taken care of, we would return WITHOUT hesitation, because we really did like the house!
