We had a great stay for JMU family weekend! The property was extremely clean, well stocked and very accommodating for our family. It was an easy 10 minute drive to campus to see our Duke. Highly recommend!
Our stay was great! The Lodge was beautiful, and the more than the perfect size for our party of 15. Plenty of space for everyone to hang out together in the main family room area. Loved it, and will definitely keep it in mind for a future trip!
We stayed here over the 2025 Christmas holiday with our extended family. We had 12 adults and one infant staying and the accommodations were wonderful. Often, when we book a house with plenty of beds, there aren't enough bathrooms, a big enough dining room or kitchen. This house had it all! The kitchen had plenty of cookware for a large group (and two refigerator/freezers), it was such a relief as we ate every meal in.The other wonderful aspect to the home was the great room. It had plenty of seating for us all and room for the baby to crawl around. The great room didn't have a television and that was great to have the family collect and mingle without a screen distraction!
This location is such a fun space - it has character, it is beautiful, comfortable, and can easily accommodate large groups! We had a great time, and the host was wonderful. Thank you!
If you want a unique experience, where you can bond with family, friends, and nature…this is the place.

Absolutely beautiful!
This property is amazing, and the owner is very friendly and helpful. Ample amounts of space & lovely amenities- it is truly a stunning home. We all loved every minute of our time spent there, and wouldn’t change a thing. Already planning our next trip to stay here again!
We organized our wedding in property’s outdoors and our bridal party stayed at the property. Owners helped us so much and were extremely responsive! Everything is 14 minutes far and we’re so glad we picked this spot! Cindy and Perry felt like family guests. They made us feel so comfortable
Planned a weekend getaway for my brother's bachelor party. We had 11 guys staying here and we had a great time. The house was more than large enough to comfortably accommodate us and the fire pit was fun to hang out by at night. The house even offered a van rental that took us to a few breweries in the area. My brother and all of his friends had an amazing time!
We had a group of 14 total and it was enough beds and space for everyone. The location is great, it was exactly 10 to 15 minutes from everything we had planned to do. Very clean and organized. Had a good variety of games for children of all ages. The driveway had plenty of space. Just overall great stay. Everyone enjoyed it so much they are already planning to go back

Wonderful experience in all departments.
Great venue. Clean, private, unique lodge layout. Modern and updated appearance despite traditional old lodge ambiance.
Excellent communication and response from proprietor. Comfortable beds, ample linens and suitable kitchen equipment. All the comforts of home with a wonderful twist of serenity. Thank you kindly for your hospitality. Hope to stay again.
This was the perfect family reunion house. We loved it so much we are planning to come back in the future - we have never done a repeat before. What makes this house great: large gathering spaces. The entire family would gather on the front porch under the fans and have morning coffee. The entire family could have dinner at one table (we had 14 people). The grounds were so peaceful. The house is off the beaten track yet really close to town. We loved to watch the deer in the field. And the babbling brook feature (it was on a timer so was quiet at night) was very relaxing.
Our retreat to the Old Massanutten Lodge was a beautiful and relaxing end to our summer!
My family and I absolutely loved the Old Massanutten Lodge!! We went over the Labor Day weekend. Our kids and grandkids had plenty of space to spread out, relax and enjoy the fresh mountain air. The lodge is well kept with a soft beds, a great kitchen with all the amenities, a fire pit outside with ample sitting areas on the front porch and lots of open areas for the kids to run and play. My husband and I especially loved the butterfly room! My only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer!!
Our family gets together every year in January-the old Lodge in Massanutten was perfect the size of our family aged 2 to well I won’t share that- lol. The massive great room was amazing! The beds were so comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked and the dining room was fabulous! We spent slot of time outside by the wood fire pit just talking and watching the kids play! Thanks for a great experience in a historic private lodge!!
Wanted a large home for extended family to stay for son's wedding at a winery down the road. Venue was amazing! We hosted the wedding rehearsal dinner there for approx 40 people. Tons of space to set up the buffet in the large dining room. Cindy set up tables for us in the main hall. It was perfect! Cindy was always available to help and answer any questions. This would be a great place to gather the family, a fun couples weekend getaway, a wedding venue... Thanks again Cindy for sharing this amazing place!
My family hosted a small (44 guests) wedding at the Lodge over Memorial Day weekend. The Lodge was the perfect venue from the beautiful grounds to the warm and intimate atmosphere of the Lodge itself. Cindy and Perry could not have been more accommodating. We were able to decorate the Lodge as we liked for the reception and Cindy and Perry set up the lawn with chairs and an arch for a lovely outdoor ceremony. One of the nicest aspects of the Lodge is the privacy it provides for your group, particularly for a wedding. We were delighted with this opportunity to celebrate in such a well- suited accommodation.
We needed a house where we could cook large meals and play outside. This house and property was perfect for our family weekend. There was plenty of bedroom spaces for each family to have privacy and everyone slept well; the beds were comfortable. The common areas are large and easily accommodated all of us. We especially enjoyed the large dining table and extra refrigerator. The outside fire pit along with the inside gas fireplace were perfect to sit around and relax. The history of the place and the player piano were also a very cool aspect of the property that you can't get in every rental. The owners added a personal touch with Easter decorations. We would definitely stay here again if we get a chance.

This house is even better than the pictures show
We were attending a wedding so we did not use the impressive great room much, but it would be wonderful for a family reunion and other get-togethers. We cooked in the beautiful large modern kitchen and had family over for a brunch in the elegant dining room. The bedrooms in the house were added on around the edges of the original structure, so they are insulated from the noise of the other rooms. The patio with the fire pit and the front porch looked like appealing outdoor spaces. We were also intrigued by the history of the house as a tourist destination.
Cindy is an excellent host, very responsive in explaining the house's floorplan before we arrived and even personally returning an item I had left behind.
My husband and I rent a house large enough for our family (5 children eat with their own families), in a different party of the country every other year. Our children travel from wherever they are to spend a week with their siblings and our grandchildren with their cousins. Everyone looks forward to it and each evening a different family cooks for the whole house. It is so much fun! This house was one of the best we've rented. It was large, clean, modern yet old (if that makes sense) with plenty of space for each family. The property is perfect for the kids, the fire pit, the kitchen, the dining room table! All seemed just made for us. Cindy was the best host ... very approachable, quick to respond and offer assistance and/or suggestions. Unfortunately, we had àn unexpected death of a very close family member so our vacation was cut very short. Cindy was amazingly understanding, kind and sympathetic, like we'd been friends forever. I am so grateful that we chose that particular house for this vacation. Thank you Cindy.
This was our second year enjoying this lovely property for JMU's Family weekend. The owners decorated the house for Fall. These lovely details made our trip so homey. Everyone loved watching the wild life wandering around. The grounds are beautiful and the house was immaculate. Thank you for making us feel so welcome! Can't wait for next year!
This house suited our family perfectly. The snow (8") on Sunday was magic. The kids enjoyed the yard for football. Plenty of trails to hike and we even found a wonderful sledding hill!
Cindy is a terrific hostess.
Cindy and Perry are incredible hosts and the lodge is better than advertised! If you are looking for a location to host an event for family/friends with both intimate and large settings...this is the place for you.
