WHEN DECIDING ON WHICH VILLA TO RENT, IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO MAKE SURE THAT THE VILLA HAS A DIESEL GENERATOR BACK UP POWER AND AUTOMATIC TRANSFER SWITCH. THIS VILLA DOES.
IT IS A SIGNIFICANT EXPENSE TO INSTALL A 20 KW DIESEL GENERATOR AND MAINTAIN IT IN GOOD OPERATING CONDITION, SO, MANY VILLAS RELY ONLY UPON BATTERIES AND INVERTERS OR LITTLE PORTABLE GENERATORS THAT DIE AFTER AN HOUR RUNNING AND CAN NOT RUN THE AIR CONDITIONING. THE PROBLEM WITH THIS IS THAT THE BATTERIES DISCHARGE AFTER AN HOUR OR SO AND YOU ARE LEFT WITHOUT LIGHTS OR AIR CONDITIONING.
IT IS VERY COMMON TO HAVE POWER OUTAGES IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. IT'S BEST TO BE SURE AND STAY IN A VILLA WITH A DIESEL GENERATOR.

If you need to cool off from the beautiful sunny, warm weather, our brand new 5' deep infinity pool is the perfect solution. The pool adjoins the bohio and has 4 concrete bar stools in the water along the adjoining bohio bar, allowing your friends in the pool to join you for a drink as you sit on a dry stool under the bohio, in the shade.
Air Conditioning.........
A brand new air conditioning system was recently installed allowing independent temperature control in each bedroom. This is not usually needed in the winter months, but is a welcome retreat from the heat in the summer months. The living room, dining room and kitchen are not air conditioned. All bedrooms are air conditioned
Entertainment at Home........
If all of the above options leave you still looking for more ways to pass your time relaxing at the beach, there is an entertainment center in the living room offering cable TV, DVD player, VCR, CD player and computer with DSL internet.

Villa Leone's beach is as close to a private beach as allowed by law. Our private cans roof open air beach bungalow offers guests a serene venue to enjoy the beach just feet from the water's edge.
RECOMENDATIONS FOR ACTIVITIES AND TOURS:
DAY 1; HORSEBACK RIDING BEACH AND MOUNTAINS
If you are renting for a week, a horseback ride on the beach is a nice way to start your vacation, followed by an afternoon in the pool.
DAY 2; BEACH TOUR DAY
Another fantastic way to spend the day is to hire a taxi to do a beach tour. This brings you to several very interesting and fun places including a small farm and a hidden waterfall where you can watch the locals dive from very high perches, The Blue Lagoon, where you can zip line off a cliff and dive into a 70' deep cenote. At the same stop, you can explore an ancient cave.
After the zip lining and swimming, it;s time for lunch on Playa Grande Beach. This beach has been voted as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world! The fresh seafood and chicken on the menu and drinks including coco locos and pina coladas will leave you ready to continue exploring one or two more beaches. I recommend Playa Diamonte where you can find fresh water sulphur springs bubbling up from the sand on the beach and can walk out 300 yards and still be in waste deep calm clear water. Another beautiful beach is Playa Calleton.
DAY 3; MONKEY JUNGLE ZIP LINING
Monkey Jungle is a short 30 minute ride from the villa.
A Taxi can take you there in his van (up to 6).
They have a pretty intense zip line circuit. They also have a really cool monkey habitat where you can feed the small monkeys as they sit on your shoulders and heads and eat out of your hand! If you don't want to zipline, you can just do the monkey jungle and sit at the bar to wait for the zip liners to return.
DAY 4; CABARETE BEACH MASSAGE AND SHOPPING
A day at Cabarete beach is a very relaxing way to pass a day in this wonderful beach town. Many of the establishments will not charge you to use their beach chairs if you buy a drink or snack from them. While on the beach, there are vendors in blue shirts that are licensed to give massages and pedicures on the beach.
It's a must to have an on beach massage followed by a mani-pedi while drinking a cold beer or pina colada. Very relaxing indeed! There are also many shops to explore in town if you need a break from the beach.
DAY 5; PRIVATE CHEF AT VILLA AND MASSAGE
If you are tired of having fun away from the villa, hire our private chef to indulge you with their fantastic meals throughout the day and night. They will meet you the day before to prepare the menu for the next day and stock the fridge with groceries necessary to prepare breakfast the next morning. After breakfast, they will prepare the menu you desire for lunch and dinner then go shopping. This is beyond any doubt most guest's favorite experience during their stay! If you want the ultimate in relaxation, couple the chef experience with a full day of massages, manicures and pedicures poolside or on the beach and you are in for a real treat.
DAY 6; SOSUA BEACH AND PUERTO PLATA CABLE CAR
A morning ride into Puerto Plata to take the cable car to the top of Isabella del Torres is a memorable experience. The views from the top of the mountain are breathtaking! There are also trails and gardens that you explore on top, as well as a little restaurant.
After the cable car, ask your taxi driver to take you to the old fort where you can learn a little history about the area. Then, on to the Amber museum.
After the Amber Museum, a little snorkelling and lunch at Sosua Beach will be a great way to wrap up your week. The shopping at Sosua Beach is much more affordable than in Cabarete.
OTHER ACTIVITIES
Other suggestions that can be explored in addition to or instead of those listed above are Ocean World, 27 Waterfalls, a visit to Santo Domingo, quad tour of the mountains and beach, mountain biking, kite surfing, surfing, sailing, deep sea fishing, catamaran snorkeling, night out in Sosua and Cabarete, UFO Museum, Brugal Rum factory tour, Rio San Juan Boat Ride..........The options are endless. You can even climb the tallest peak in the Caribbean; Pico Duarte!

Hello Andre,
We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay.
We have a temporary fabric fence up to let nature recreate the protective dunes in front of Villa Leone. We are not allowed any heavy equipment on the beach to assist in dune reconstruction.
This 4’ high thin fabric fence does not really obstruct the beach view any more than the dunes. The 2nd and 3rd floor views look over the dunes for million dollar beach and ocean views.
The thin fabric silt fence will be removed in the near future as soon as the dunes are restored.

Everything was wonderful, we all had a great time, Villa very comfortable as well as pool and beachfront. Water was pretty rough but still ok. Jeremy and Mercedes were very accommodating and friendly. Yeny cooked for us 2 days the most amazing meals, she also did a pig roast and bonfire on the beach which was fantastic. All in all would return again.

The stay was good, Jeremy (maintenance) is top notch, he was there everyday and made us a fire on the beach! The view of the ocean is blocked from the outdoor areas and the 1st floor by a big black cloth fence (the only one on the beach) and the pathway to get to the beach is not flat and difficult for older family members to navigate. The pool waterfall was broken until the last day of our stay, most of the outdoor lounge chairs were broken (we did eventually get different ones) After multiple times of asking for the lounge cushion (the red circle in the photos on the description) we never received it to use. The hot tub only had 1 spot of the jets working. There was a large cement slab with sharp rocks around it that you had to walk over/around to get to the beach. There is no light above the dining table (Tupperware siliconed to the ceiling to catch drips, they fell and soaked the table a few times, do not leave items on the table) We just drug the lamp from the corner of the living room closer to the table to be able to dine. The cleaning ladies came every other day. The biggest disappointment was no view of the ocean unless on higher floors and the difficulty getting to the beach. Frank answered messages quickly, the house needs some repairs and updates to be as described in the listing, no ocean view unless on higher floors and difficult access to the beach over the debris and uneven surface. It is not flat to the ocean like shown on listing. The trip was great overall.

The “big black cloth fence” that you described is a 3’ high piece of fabric filter installed with 4’ wood stakes. We installed this for 2 reasons; to help increase the size of the dunes to protect the villa and also to block the blowing sands from the beach that, when the wind blows, can be very annoying to guests trying to dine and sunbathe on the beach in front of the villa.
The dunes do interuot some views of the ocean if you are sitting on the first floor level. It certainly doesn’t block the view of the beach since Villa Leone is located directly on the beach.
As for any other maintenance items, things do break….. as the guest said, when they do, we fix them. We have been doing this for 22 years at Villa Leone. Our staff insures that any and all guest requests or concerns are addressed immediately.
The waterfall pump did break. It did not affect the operation of the pool at all. The pump took a few days to locate and install.

Amazing week!
We came to Cabarete for my daughter's wedding. She was staying in a villa just north of us. I chose the Villa Leone for the location and number of rooms and amenities. it did not disappoint! My husband and i stayed in the crows nest suite and had coffee every morning on the patio overlooking the ocean. The staff ere very helpful and efficient. We were very grateful to Maria for all her help and local knowledge. We even had fresh coconuts straight from the tree on the property!

The “Treehouse” on the top floor was just completed in December of 2023. It’s the best place to relax and enjoy the breathtaking views of the beach and ocean waves.
I am pretty sure that Villa Leone is the only villa in the Caribbean with a 15’ tall marble Rocky Statue and 7’ tall 18th century crucifix from a French church. It’s my home away from home…..

Beautiful, peaceful, and private. We had family and friends overlapping in three Villas. Boogie boarded the waves on the beach for hours. 10 minutes away from over a dozen restaurants. Some of us road horses on the beach. Some did the cable car. Others hiked the waterfalls. Some drove to Santiago and bought Opals. We loved it and will be back.

Beautiful Villa, Amazing Experience
I planned this trip for my 30th birthday with friends and family, and i can honestly say the trip went beyond my expectations from the moment we arrived. The house is exactly as listed in a private community, right on the beach, and filled with beautiful statues inside and out. Frank linked us to transportation services with Edward, who was helpful and accommodating. Our Chef, Catalino was so amazing and all his food was deliciously cooked to perfection. On our last night at the villa, Catalino roasted a pig and brought it to the house for us. Frank was also great with communication throughout the entire time of our stay, ensuring everything was going well. i really appreciate Frank and all the staff that made my birthday celebration extra special. I will definitely be back !

Paradise by the sea.
Our stay at Villa leone was truly a 5 star experience. My family of 10 including an infant had all the space required. Comfortable beds , dining table to accommodate all and even a sectional couch large enough for all of us to watch our favourite soccer team win the cup. We enjoyed many meals outside on the large picnic table. We made use of the private chef for 2 days and would recommend the experience highly. Our favourite meal out was at Bliss. A truly wonderful evening. Horse back riding on the beach was fun. The 27 waterfalls excursion was exciting. All the staff was exceptional. Not enough words to convey how accommodating they all were. We even tried fresh coconut picked from one of our own palm trees by Miguel our pool attendant.

We had such a great time on our stay. On our arrival jeremy, the groundsman, was theere already to welcome us and he was there every day to clean around the villa and help us when something wasnt working.
After the house and terrasse and swimming pool where incredible.. we could do everything we want and the sea was just on our doorstep.
The cleaning ladies did a perfect job also.
And we took the chef to cook for us for 5 days and we couldnt choose for better. Not only does he cook better then any restaurant in the area also does he have an hart of gold.. so nice an patient with whatever we want or if we have suddenly some people over
Recommend him to every one.. you wont regret!
It was a great stay and we will come back there it we visit Cabarete again.
Only advise is to review some parts ot the villa as they start getting older and before they break or so its better to check it out already.
But thats only advise and not even critics cause we couldnt have an better stay!! Thanks!!

Simply paradise with amazing views Feb 17th 2017
We are use to big 5 star resorts and this was our first venture to a private villa. My family of 5 can only say great things about our stay. A mostly private beach gave dream views from the bed rooms, the amazing "tree house" even in the showers. Not only did my kids not complain once, but all week all I heard was how much they loved this place and wished they never had to leave. Frank the host is a 5 star host as well. He communicated thru the rental process and even during my stay checked in with me to make sure I was happy and if there was anything else I needed. Sarah greeted us every morning with a big smile and made sure all was clean and also made sure we were happy with everything... Side note: she makes the best Coco loco's we have ever had as well!!! Riding horses along the ocean, swims in the pool, lounging in the sun, swimming in the ocean, walking along the beach to Martini's for dinner, Complete peace in an amazing setting we couldn't have asked for more. Even the grounds keeper climbed a tree to get us fresh coconut milk for the loco's. The only problem I had was getting my kids to leave to come home. Thank you Frank for a very very Amazing vacation. We will be back again!!

A quirky beauty on the beach
We had a wonderful time at Villa Leone. It is right on the beach and has a great pool. The property is old but everything works. The beds are super comfy and the kitchen has all of the things you need (appliances and utensils). The pool and hot tub were clean and the staff swept up and kept the house and outside area in good shape. Jeremy the grounds keeper even got the kids coconuts from a tree on the property. There is a lovely spot for a morning coffee to watch the sunrise from at the top floor deck. However the staircase to get to it is pretty sketchy. The air conditioners in the rooms worked great but it definitely needs AC in the main areas as well. It’s was too hot and if we left the doors open for the lovely breeze, we got eaten by mosquitoes. There are quirky statues everywhere that kind of fit the place perfectly. The location is great if you don’t need to go anywhere but otherwise you need to get a taxi every single time you want to go to eat or do anything. We used Edward who was recommended by the host and he was super responsive and pretty consistent on his prices. We used him for everything, including a super fun day tour of some local beaches and a plantain visit. I personally don’t like getting my own toilet paper and paper towel and dish soap etc. but we have had to do that a few places. I also would have liked to be able to wash a few items of clothing or have the staff do it at least once during our stay. Frank was a good host and overall we loved it!

Dominican Trip
VIlla Leone was amazing. We stayed for 6 days and had a wonderful experience. It was our first time visiting the domician and we were thrilled with our decision. Frank provided us with great information and reserving the property was extremely simple. All of our questions were answered and we were provided a great resource packet for 1st time visitors. Upon arriving, Jose, the property manager, welcomed us at the airport and helped us get groceries for the week. When we arrived at the house we were given a tour and instructions on how everything worked. All week we had complete privacy and felt safe. The maid is extremely polite and does over the top work. The area outback with the pool, grill, hot tub, hammock are amazing because the weather is beautiful. The beach is very private and exciting! The waves are very fun but kind of rough when it gets windy. Anytime we needed anything; Jose was there to help and answer our questions. Local tour groups will come visit and give you options for things to do; we chose horseback riding and ATV riding. Both were very affordable and fun! Everyone on the island is very friendly. I highly recommend hiring the services of the private chef. The food was outright amazing and he was very fun to talk to. The overnight security guards are also a nice touch. Frank keeps the property in amazing condition and has full time staff working on everything to keep it clean and relaxing. He also was very kind to check In with us during the week and after our stay. I highly recommend Villa Leone to anyone who is looking to get away and relax on a beautiful island with great ammenities. The privacy, staff, and wonderful home make it a great destination spot!

Paradise At Villa Leone
Frank Leone has put the effort into creating a vacation at the Villa Leone that exceeds ones’ expectations. At least this was so recently for my daughter, son-in-law, husband and me. After a smooth flight through Newark, NJ, we were met by the friendly, helpful and extremely competent manager of the property, Mike. Mike stopped so we could purchase wine but he had already stocked the villa with some basic provisions for us. Mike speaks excellent English and is very knowledgeable.
The villa is beautiful, comfortably furnished, well maintained and cleaned daily by Patria, the maid/housekeeper. In fact, we had made arrangements for Patria to have a wonderful meal awaiting our arrival. Mike took the time to over go over a check list of the workings of various aspects of the property. It is evident that Frank is a hands-on owner who has not only maintained but continued to upgrade this beautiful home. The beach location and grounds are a delight to eye.
We had very reasonably priced massages at the villa the next day and used the services of Chef Catalino for four days of our stay, also arranged through Frank. Every meal was delicious and he makes the best conch fritters I have ever had.
For seven days we were pampered which contributed to what we all agreed was the most relaxing vacation we have ever had. We were so content, only one of us went horseback riding and we only left the villa once for a brief visit into Cabarete.
The other aspect that greatly contributes to an enjoyable vacation is the people where you are staying. Mike stopped by or phoned us everyday to be certain we had everything we needed. Patria, my new Dominican Republican Amiga, could not do enough for my family and me. She is a delightful lady and she and I enjoyed conversing in our developing Spanish/English about our families. Everyone including maintenance, grounds keepers and guards warmly greeted us daily. At the end, we felt that we were leaving new friends whom we look forward to seeing again next year.

I had Catalino cook for an all day party this past week. He did huevos rancheros for breakfast, mero ceviche for lunch and conch fritters and chicken, beef and pork tacos for dinner. Oh, I forgot to mention the bananas flambé for dinner.

Luxurious mansion like villa on the beach!
Caberete is a wonderful off the beaten path town that's safe and has everything a tourist would need just a short taxi ride away. It has a couple of markets, a pizza place that delivers to the villa, an ice cream shop, a little strip of stores on the street side with vendors and BBQ and a liquor store, a bank, souvenir shops, just to name a few. In the evening the street side closes but the beach side stays open with numerous restaurants and bars all with beach seating, some even have tv's and there's a volley ball net there too! We even watched the Maywether/ Mcgregor fight at a sports bar on the beach it was fantastic!
The villa is beautiful and luxurious with lots of white statues large and small inside and out, large paintings and lots of local artwork, sculptures and a beautiful locally made wooden chandelier. There's so much space inside and out! The beds are comfortable and the bedrooms with the balconies are beautiful. The infinity pool is amazing with a waterfall and swim up bar stools. The villa sits directly on the beach so you can hear the waves from the relaxing hanging bed or from high atop in the birds nest or from one of the three balconies. The staff...let me just say that the staff was absolutely amazing! They are very professional and will do whatever they can to make sure your needs are met! With pleasure! Mercedes the house keeper is trustworthy and so very nice and professional you will love the staff and they are happy to make sure your having a great time. They will not hesitate to resolve any issue. The bon fire on the beach was fun! There is a building next door that's an eyesore as it looks abandoned and may have been under construction at one time but it sits back just a little behind the villa and off to the side so just don't look at it and you won't even know it's there. The short walk to the ocean was not a flat walk during our stay there was a small sand mound to climb which was not a problem for us but it could be a challenge for an elderly person. We occasionally saw random stray beach dogs which happens at beaches all over the world but they were easily shooed away. The walk to the ocean is close enough to the villa to carry a chair but you can't sit from the pool and watch your children play especially if that sand mound is there because you won't even be able to see them but at least you don't have to travel anywhere to enjoy it. We loved Villa Leone it met our needs and expectations! Go to the monkey jungle

Villa Leone 1/2020
This trip was planned to celebrate my wife's 50th birthday and it was actually our 7th time to the Dominican Republic. I have actually been keeping any eye on renting this villa for about 7 years. Was just waiting for the right opportunity, hence my wife's 50th birthday!! So there was 20 of us spread out between Villa Leone, Villa Flamingo and Villa Belvedere. Frank was so great to work with from the planning to booking and the ten months leading up to the trip. Frank was a wealth of information for all that you will need while there. He gave me a recommendation for transportation with Eduardo from Edwards Taxi in Cabarete, which we used for all of our transportation and excursions. He picked us up at the airport and stopped at Janets market on the way to the Villa. Check in was easy and no issues. I had requested a chef for our first full day and Jenny, the chef, was there our first night to help plan for all three meals for the following day. She and her staff were there on time and so friendly on Sunday morning( she actually did 3 meals that day for all 3 villas for 20 of us, with a smile and plenty of laughs!!) 7 of us played golf at Playa Dorado on Monday morning, highly recommend if you like to play golf beautiful course and great friendly staff. Eduardo brought his 14 passenger bus to take us there and his driver waited for us the whole time we were playing golf. Eduardo suggested Playa Sosua for the next day for a quiet beach day. It was awesome for 16 of us. He has plenty of associates in the area to take care of you and your group no matter what you want to do. On Wednesday night I had planned a party for all of us at Villa Leone and Jenny cooked a wonderful Paella dinner with appetizers and desserts. It was absolutely fabulous!!! The dinner/luau was followed by a bonfire on the beach which the maintenance/security staff took care of for us. The staff for Villas Paraiso are top notch with security, maintenance and housekeeping! Every morning maintenance was at the villas sweeping and wiping down all the tables and chairs. An added touch was the local dogs that were on property, all 3 of them are so friendly and kind of act like guard dogs to walkers going by property(not aggressive at all just liked to bark to let others know they were there). We did the falls for another day trip (Los 27 Charcos De Damajagua) Which was breath taking. If you like to do Catamaran trip have Eduardo hook you up from Sosua beach. All in all it was great!!!

Wedding!
Everything was great! We were excited to have a movie night but unfortunately the DVD player didn't work with the DVDs that were there (wrong sections for displaying). That was a very small issue that didn't make or break our stay. The staff was great and very very helpful when one of the safes would not open. Bonfire on the beach was amazing and if I could I would have never left!

Family Christmas
We usually go somewhere special with our entire family including Grandmas every year to celebrate Christmas. We look for a place that can feel like a home for 8 people ranging from 8 - 76 yrs of age. This is a beautiful place to go and the people are so friendly. The house we stayed in was very nice and RIGHT on the beach. Positive aspects are the beach, location, friendly staff, comfortable beds, great private chief Yinny and privacy. The negative aspects was cold showers, electricity issues, pool a little too cold, hot tub a little too cold and I wished the house was more open. The rooms were a little boxed up

This is a very rare review for me but this place deserves it. Absolutely spot on from the description. The home is exactly as advertised. Actually even nicer. Frank is a true professional. Answered any email within minutes. Staff was very friendly. Definitely recommend if you are hitting the Dominican republic. We will return.

What a wonderful and beautiful vacation. Everything was perfect! Helpful and attentive staff. Jeremy, Mercedes and Alfredo did a fabulous job of tending to our needs. Yeny was an awesome chef and helpful with guiding us along our stay. She is a gem! Would definitely do it all again! Definitely would stay at the villa. Cinnamon, the little beach puppy won our children’s hearts. This will be a memorable vacation for all of us. Thank you Frank. We will be back if you’ll have us. 😎

Lots to do!
Frank the owner answered all questions and was so easy to get a hold of. The staff at the property were attentive and very helpful. The house had great space and location was great. We did a number of recommended excursions and all were fun. We did horseback riding on the beach, ATV, and took a boat ride. We did a bonfire on the property and had one of the guys get us some coconuts from the backyard. We’d probably go back if it wasn’t for one thing. The only downside was that there were some insects in the house roaches, water bugs and huge spiders. To be fair, the owner and staff were willing to use a spray to help with the problem. However the can had a warning label that it shouldn’t be used around children. I had my 2 kids with me and wasn't willing to chance it. I’d probably go back if it wasn’t for that.

As anyone who has spent time in a tropical paradise knows; including many areas of the USA, there will be bugs around at times. We regularly use a green and healthy alternative to normally harmful insecticides. If circumstances warrant, we have the heavy artillery handy such as your standard insecticides. They most definitely do the job when needed.
Unfortunately, all of these products state they should be used with caution around pets and children. As you mention, we did offer to apply this product where any insects were observed. We respect your decision to decline the use of the insecticide.
We feel that a decision to not return based on this very transient and easily correctable incident should be re-evaluated and put in perspective. Even the most opulent 5 star hotels in tropical climates have insects occasionally.
