We spent a wonderful week at LaHacienda. It was centrally located on the island and easy to find. There were lots a great restaurants close by and they were less expensive than the ones in town. Karen was an amazing host and made sure we had everything we needed. She supplied beach towels and there were bicycles that we used to get around. The pool was so refreshing after being at the beach or riding around all day. The AC was quiet and worked well and the bed was comfortable. I would definitely recommend this VRBO location.
We had a pleasant stay. The ac worked well, water got hot a d there was great toilet flush pressure. we were able to check in early which helped out a lot. Great communication with Karen. Great location, mid island. Definitely recommend for a simple, clean and nice stay.
We really enjoyed our 3 night stay at Karen’s hacienda. With only 4 suites it is intimate, quiet, lovely. We really enjoyed the pool after exploring and at the beach. Appreciated a range of sun blocks and shampoos to choose from during our stay. Sunset at playa Norte is not to be missed.

Great location with intriguing guests.
We had not been in Eastland Mall Harris in 25 years. So much has changed! We were happy to find this location.
See my earlier review. I actually rented two of Karen’s rooms, one for my spouse and I and one for my sister and brother in law. It’s a great set up for a family or a group of friends to rent all four of her rooms! We enjoyed our stay very much and plan to return. Thank you, Karen for your hospitality!
La Hacienda was such a great place to stay and just as I expected. I wanted to stay more local and I love that I really got to experience that here. The pool was beautiful, I love all the colorful walls and I appreciate Karen and her babies for allowing me to stay and being great hosts. The place was Devine, but Karen was also incredible with info and recommendations! I can’t wait to stay again.
Karen is a great host and was there to answer any questions we had. The place is simple but clean and has everything you need. We loved using the bikes she has to get around the island, though they could use a bit more maintenance. We had a lovely time.
Karen was very helpful in advising us were to eat. ( we loved the coconut shrimps in the Coco Jaguar, next door) it is in a Convenient location to catch a bus to the beaches. ( the beaches in the north are awesome) we found the Bikes useful in exploring the southern tip area. Breakfast @ Mago, walking distance is great.
The pool is cold , but we found it refreshing. If you don’t like to waken up by roosters , you’ll have challenging time every morning
Karen was very good at communicating and helpful throughout and beyond the booking process. The directions to the property were great, it’s in a good location only minutes from the ferry and Playa Norte. My husband has difficulty walking and one of attractions of booking here was the property offered the use of peddle bikes, unfortunately they are in very poor condition, which was a disappointment to us and we had to get a lot of taxi’s. The space is adequate, if you’re planning to make meals in the room, note that cooking facilities are limited and the fridge is small. We visited the Mango Cafe a couple of blocks away and recommended by Karen for breakfasts. The bed is large and comfortable and the air conditioning effective. The rooftop deck is a great place to sunbath. We had a nice stay, but the grounds, bikes and the bbq area need a bit of maintenance to fully utilize.

Not as advertised!!!
The room was dirty, the floor had not been cleaned in a very long time. There is a mesh screen over the bed that was falling down, the shower was seriously a joke. The shower head had four little holes the water came out of and barely...Absolutely no privacy, you could hear everything going on next door. It was stated the B&B was in a beautiful neighborhood NOT. And it should not be called a B&B as there was not breakfast offered. All around a horrible stay and we left on the third day. Really needed a shower,

Jeanne,
I am very sorry you were not happy with your stay. During the 4 nights you stayed on the property, I spoke to you every day. You did not report any issue or I would have addressed them immediately. I strive to make sure my guests needs are met and would have liked the opportunity to make your stay better. I hope you were able to enjoy the remainder of your vacation.

It was a quiet retreat far enough from centro and touristy parts of the island. If you like low key island energy with down to earth folks, this is where you want to stay. Karen and her dogs are awesome and very informative as well as helpful. On one hand I’m willing to share this place with others but on the other, I kind of want to keep it a secret, lol.
On a serious note, there are good places to eat within walking distance, but come prepared for the heat and humidity. The local beaches away from centro were like a secret oasis for me and I actually preferred where the locals went as opposed the ones frequented by the tourists staying in centro.
I came to rest not party so it was perfect for me. For those looking for the tourist party scene, you’ll have to make some adjustments if you choose to stay at this location but either way, you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Thanks again Karen and I’ll see you and your girls in another couple of months!
Karen is an incredibly kind woman. She let us check in early and even let me use her home to change. That being said, I have to say that the pictures are a bit dated. Aging is definitely visible when you see the place in person. The walls are incredibly thin. The guests on the other side of our wall had a phone alarm that went off for over an hour and it drove us mad, and we could hear them talking the whole time. There's a gate that leads to the rooms that you have to unlock and then relock behind you each time you come and go--it get's cumbersome. The small tv had some streaming services downloaded, but that's useless for someone from the US because it's Mexico and most if not all streaming services don't work there (and can detect a VPN). I didn't find any local channels. Probably the worst thing: the wifi didn't work the whole time. I confirmed this with another guest I ran into. We paid on average over $100 a night. We had a lot of other family in different Vrbo's across the island, and they actually got nicer AND cheaper options.

Spencer,
Thank you for your review.
I am sorry you did not enjoy your stay. I asked you each day if you needed anything or had issues. I would have been happy to show you how to work the Roku TV, speak to other guests about noise and make sure you were connected to the internet.
The photos of the property are less than 6 months old and the gate is for security.
I do hope that you were able to enjoy the island.
Thanks,
Karen
Stayed almost a month there. Beautiful setting, next to a vet/ cat shelter so very good for volunteering to help with over 75 cats. Also next to a bar for breakfast. Need to take a taxi/ bus to beach, activities, bands, etc. Residential area. But problematic/ over 100 pesos: 7$ Canadian, returning from activities/ downtown. Very helpful host and her two friendly dogs!
Karen's place is definitely a sweet jem ... we felt safe ,comfortable, and enjoyed the pool after a long eventful day . If you're looking for something that's affordable, authentic, and has that island feel this is the place for you. We even enjoyed the churping geckos, the crowing roosters and her precious dogs! Karen thank you for being the sweetest host, till next time !!!
Karen created a beautiful gem in Hacienda b&b. We thoroughly enjoyed our accomodations which were comfortable and cute, the pool and rooftop hammocks, and the bicycles she had to offer. This won't be our last trip to Isla Mujeres, nor to Hacienda B&B. Thank you, Karen!
We had a blast! Very quaint. Very clean. Very easy.
We spent 2 nights with Karen for a quick trip to Isla. She was east peasy as well as professional.
The room was nice and the pool was terrific. A noisy rooster in the morning was somewhat of a challenge. Tip: turn on the fan!
Can't wait to come back. Thank you Karen!
The real deal! We are so glad we got to experience life in the Colonias! We felt like we were a part of island life in such a different way than the typical tourist hangouts. So many treasured moments just ambling through the streets, buying fresh juice from neighbors’ doorways, listening to the street sounds and catching snatches of music.
KAREN was an excellent host, with plenty of helpful information and recommendations for her favorite spots. Our room was just as pictured, quaint and comfortable, with artistic touches everywhere. And we enjoyed the generous loan of her bicycles to get around the island!
Note: you will be serenaded by roosters, and may even be treated to the music of a local quinceanera. We enjoyed it as part of the local soundscape, but sensitive sleepers may wish to bring earplugs. 🤗
Don’t be concerned about the neighborhood, everyone is friendly and helpful. Behind the gates you’ll find a beautiful oasis, pool and landscaping. All rooms have direct access to patio/pool. Kathy, the owner was great, recommended restaurants and activities. Make sure you rent a golf cart, makes getting around a lot easier.

Why they chose this property
My first remarkable visit to Isla Mujeres was 25 years ago and I fell in love with the magic of the Island of Women. Relaxation washed over me as I stepped onto the ferry transporting me to this Caribbean paradise. I knew immediately that one day this island, that is steeped in a rich Mexican culture, would become my home. After many years, research and visits, in November 2016, I discovered the perfect home in the colonia Salina Chica. I knew La Hacienda would make a lovely beautique hotel, offering serenity and privacy for my guests along with space for me and my 2 standard poodles to live and rescue cocker spaniel. I fell in love as soon as I walked in the front door. The same feeling I had on the first ferry ride 25 years ago. My wish is to share with you the beauty and tranquility of La Hacienda on Isla Mujeres. Please visit us soon.
