Brilliant views and location

We had a very enjoyable and relaxing time . The views from the property are exceptional. Comfortable throughout. Communication with Mertxe was flawless. Would definitely return if we returned to the area and would recommend the property . 40 minutes to San Sebastián and Bilbao

Beautiful renovated farmhouse in a beautiful area

We had a lovely time in this renovated farmhouse. The house is even nicer than the pictures. The view of the mountains is beautiful. It is conveniently located between Bilbao and San Sebastián. I highly recommend this as a vacation destination and would happily return for a stay.

Beautiful Home with Gracious Host

This was a perfect home for our group of 6 (2 young children, 2 parents, and 2 grandparents) tucked away in the hills. It was conveniently located for day trips in the surrounding area. We spent wonderful afternoons lounging in the yard reading and watching the horses graze in the pasture right below us. Great kitchen, comfortable beds, and pleasant rooms for relaxing and visiting. The drive up the narrow road leading to the home seemed surreal. Couldn’t recommend the place more.

Quintessential European country home

This is a wonderful property! The renovation of the old house is very well done. The property and the views are beautiful! They host was very nice and very helpful. This is a great central location to travel from to access the Basque country. About an hour from Bilbao, 90 minutes to San Sebastian, 45 minutes to Urkiola and 2 hours to La Rioja. It was great to come back after a bury day and simply enjoy the quiet and beauty of the country side. It is a little tricky to find, but Google maps got us there as long as you follow the directions exactly! We would go back to this place in a heart beat!!

Horses

There were many things we liked. First of all the view of the mountains, which changed many times during the day. Then of course the horses, which announced themselves by the bell of their chief. The horses were fond of pears and came by several times a day, to check if any pears had fallen down from the trees. Some of them even succeeded in shaking the trees, to make the pears fall. Clever animals. Other animals we liked were the four donkeys, a little bit down the road. One of them had such a wise and thoughtful glance, that we will never again believe that donkeys are stupid. Then, is the farm like paradise? In paradise the furniture is more comfortable, we guess, and the kitchen a little bit better equipped. But not the less, we give 5 stars.

Großes Haus mit toller Lage - der Blick geht ins Grüne und auf die Berge, es ist absolut ruhig, und Städte wie Bilbao oder San Sebastian sind per Auto oder Zug gut zu erreichen. Das nahegelegene Ermua ist zwar eine ausgesprochen unattraktive Stadt, Einkaufsmöglichkeiten sind aber ausreichend vorhanden.Die Vermieterin ist sehr nett und hilfsbereit; die Kommunikation funktionierte absolut reibungslos.Warum keine 10 Punkte ? Das Haus ( Belegung: bis zu sechs Personen ) hat uns für zwei Wochen 3.700.- gekostet - nicht ganz wenig Geld, oder ? Bei einer solchen Miethöhe hätten wir eine entsprechende Ausstattung erwartet und waren diesbezüglich enttäuscht: Drei Weingläser, stumpfe und billige Küchenmesser, zwei alte Liegestühle, angeschlagene Teller, keine Spülutensilien, kaum Fliegengitter ( und es gab viele Insekten ... ) usw.. Alles nicht dramatisch, aber das hätte sich mit einer sehr überschaubaren Investition von Seiten der Vermieterin ziemlich leicht verbessern lassen.

Basisuitrusting ontbreekt in keuken (zeer weinig glazen, borden…). Slecht functionerende oven. Zeer beperkte tuinuitrusting (geen kussen voor iedereen, stoelen in slechte staat, geen parasol…). Veel gestoord door familie van de eigenares (komen spullen halen uit garage, verblijven in de tuin…).

Très beau logement, cadre idéal

Nous avons passé un très bon séjour dans ce beau logement en pleine campagne, mais pas isolé car il y a des maisons à proximité. Bel espace extérieur avec une superbe vue sur les collines aux alentours. Le matin, nous avions la visite de chevaux dans le verger en dessous de la maison. Très bon accueil de Mertxe, qui est très sympathique. En conclusion logement confortable et agréable, dans un environnement calme. Je conseille pour vos prochaines vacances.

Lo mejor del País Vasco

Mertxe es una persona extraordinaria. Nos recibió el primer día y nos dio un tour maravilloso de la casa y la zona. Una casa muy bien cuidada y un entorno de ensueño. Todo muy cercano, incluido San Sebastián, y como sacado de un cuento. Un lugar apto para descansar y disfrutar de su entorno. Para repetir.

Relatively close to the sites on the north coast such as Bilbao and Dan Sebastian. A great place to come “home” to after a day of sightseeing. Very comfortable!

Simplemente magnífica. La casa perfecta, mezcla lo rural del diseño, con modernidad en el interior, sin faltar ninguna prestación. Lo mejor, las vistas desde el jardín, sensacionales, como estar en plena montaña. Nuestras hijas de 20 años, que buscaban relajación y contemplación, llegaron a decir, lo mejor del viaje a Euskadi, la casa, con esto está todo dicho. Y mira que Euskadi es una maravilla.

Magnifique

Superbe ancienne ferme, toute de pierres et de bois avec une belle terrasse et une vue formidable. L'organisation des pièces peut ne paraitre pas forcément très pratique à l'heure actuelle, mais elle suit la structure du bâtiment comme autrefois. L'aménagement intérieur est très bien fait apporte toute la modernité d'aujourd'hui dans cette très belle bâtisse ancienne. Nous y avons passé vraiment un très agréable séjour. Pour finir la position géographique pourrait paraitre un peu "loin de tout", mais en fait, c'est finalement à 40 min environ à la fois de San Sebastian et de Bilbao, donc plutôt pratique !

Gewoonweg heerlijk vertoeven!

Dit verblijf is zondermeer een topper. Alleen al het unieke berglandschap is genieten. Het huis is ruim, gerieflijk en heeft karakter. Het enige "minpuntje" zou je de niet evidente toegangsweg kunnen noemen, maar dat wordt dan weer ruim gecompenseerd door de "wilde" paarde als buren. De gastvrouw is attent, bereikbaar en behulpzaam. Het is gewoonweg heerlijk vertoeven. Bert

Gemütlich entspannen mitten in der Natur

Mertxes Ferienhaus ist wunderschön mitten in der Natur gelegen mit Blick auf die Berge und herrliche Walnussbäume. Das Haus bietet viel Platz mit einer großen, super ausgestatteten Küche, einem gemütlichen Kaminzimmer, einer wohnlichen Einrichtung und einem hübschen Garten. Wir haben dort zu viert eine wunderbare Woche verbracht und uns rundum wohl gefühlt. Die Gegend ist toll zum Wandern und auch interessante Städte wie Bilbao, Gernika und Vitoria sind nicht weit entfernt. Mertxe ist eine reizende Gastgeberin und war für uns jederzeit ansprech- und erreichbar.

Vrijstaand gerenoveerd huis van alle gemakken voorzien, zeer rustig gelegen.

Plezierig verblijf op het platteland in Baskenland. Een auto is noodzakelijk vanwege de vele kronkelige en smalle wegen. Er kan in de regio goed gewandeld worden, maar het kost veel zoekwerk om de paden te vinden. De tijden van de dag waarnaar de bevolking leeft wijken nogal af van de onze. Voorbeeld: Een oude (klooster)kerk is wel open, maar van twaalf tot vier dicht. Dan ga je kijken op maandag en dat blijkt dan een rustdag te zijn. Restaurants idem, totdat het tot je doordringt dat men van twaalf tot drie eet en niet 's avonds. Toch is onze vakantie een plezierige tijd geweest, mede door de benaderbaarheid van de eigenaar via whatsapp in het engels waardoor er goede vragen gesteld en antwoorden gekregen werden. Hou er rekening mee dat men overwegend Baskisch spreekt en niet altijd Spaans, laat staan een taal als Frans Duits of Engels. Overigens is men zeer vriendelijk en met handen en voeten kun je vaak uitduiden wat de bedoeling is. Bovenstaande komt mogelijk wat kritisch over. Daarom nog wat over de grotere steden als Bilbao en Vitorio: Druk, wel goed bereikbaar met een oud centrum en erg gezellig want iedereen is op straat.

Great location - spectacular views,

As a family of 6 we had a great week staying in this wonderful traditional farmhouse that has been beautifully renovated. The views from the terrace are spectacular. A quiet country location in the hills but with easy close access to the Ap 8 motorway providing quick access to cities, towns and the beaches. We really enjoyed visiting San Sebastian (using the park and ride) Bergara, Onati and the Sanctuary at Arantzazu and also would recommend the Flyche walk from Deba to Zumaia. We particularly liked the beach and the bars in Zumaia and the beach at Lekeitio. As the house is an old farmhouse one of our party did occasionally suffer with asthma. Mertxe our host was very helpful.

Altes Bauernhaus in wunderschöner Gegend

Das wunderschöne Haus liegt sehr ruhig, aber sehr verkehrsgünstig zur Autobahn. Die Terrasse und der Garten sind gepflegt, es gibt schattenspendende Bäume und einen atemberaubenden Fernblick. Abends ist der Kamin ein Highlight, Holz ist vorhanden. Die Küche ist modern und mit allem ausgestattet, das man braucht. Mertxe ist sehr freundlich, spricht gut Englisch und hilft in allen Lebenslagen! Danke Mertxe! Das Haus ist uneingeschränkt für Familienurlaub zu empfehlen, sonst ist es vielleicht ein wenig zu hellhörig.
