Second time staying here, and we loved it every bit as much as we did in 2024. Comfortable, private, well appointed, lovely views from the deck and hot tub, and all just minutes from downtown Healdsburg and the amazing wineries of Dry Creek… it’s literally everything you could ask for in a weekend (or longer) getaway spot.
This property is so clean and comfortable! It is peaceful and beautiful! The owners have an eye for detail and the location is so convenient! I would highly recommend this property for you romantic Sonoma getaway.
Super peaceful getaway. Everything was clean. Enough tools in the kitchen to make a meal (we just did breakfast). Shower was great. Bed was comfortable. Took a minute to figure out how to lock the door upon leaving because we did not read the checkout instructions in their book first where they lay out how to do it. Close to town but secluded. Great stay.
Our visit to Healdsburg was delightful and we look forward to returning and staying in this guest house again. The accommodations were perfect for myself and my husband. We enjoyed the proximity to the town and to local vineyards. Did a mix of cooking in and dining out. The kitchen was outfitted fantastically!! Perhaps our favorite feature was the outdoor hot tub. Many thanks to the hosts for sharing their beautiful home with us!
The cottage is so charming and the surrounding area is so peaceful. The owners had supplied everything you need with excellent natural products. Would definitely stay again
This property over delivers on everything from location, to spectacular views, to a wonderfully appointed house. What a wonderful place to enjoy wine country!!
Beautiful oasis close to town but very private! The kitchen has everything you would need. We loved the porch (equipped with heaters) and the vineyard views! Perfect for relaxing and recharging.
My wife and I were celebrating our 22nd anniversary and this house was perfect. Location in heart of Sonoma Wine country was outstanding. Heated patio was wonderful on cool morning and evening. The hosts are great to work with. Looking forward to returning next year.
It was a pleasurer staying at this home. From the cleanliness of the home, to the amenities, from inside to outside, it was perfect. The sunsets from the front porch outside area are unreal. We will definitely stay again! Thank you for thinking of the little things in the home.
The setting for this cottage is beautiful. The view to the vineyard is awesome! It is obvious the hosts care deeply about this property. Driveway is a little challenging. Neighbor was noisy with vehicles but, overall, a wonderful stay.
Such a delight to relax and enjoy such a beautiful, comfortable and cozy hide away in Healdsburg.
Thoughtful touches in the home everywhere.
And to relax on the patio at sunset watching the hummingbirds is such a special, peaceful experience.
Just perfect!
We have visited before and this home exceeded our expectations once again. Every detail has been thought of. Touches of aromatherapy add to the overall serenity of this home. It is so quiet with only the sounds of nature. The house has everything you need for a wonderful stay. Thank you, Nez and Brent for being the most amazing hosts. What an experience to stay here!
As previous reviewers have stated, this property is magical; well located, well appointed and beautiful views. In spite of the January rains which left the drive to the house somewhat uncomfortable, our hefty rental car took on the challenge and the owners were attentive to the situation. We learned to navigate the “stream only” tv service and for this couple of a certain age, we were proud of our accomplishment although we admit we never mastered access to national news stations and sports events. Oh well, more time to drink wine!! This property will definitely be added to the list of favorite places we have stayed in CA wine country.
We spent 3 nights at this wonderful retreat among the vineyards. The owners have appointed the property with class, great taste, an appreciation for the wine country elan and with their guests' privacy and comfort foremost in mind. All COVID-precautions were taken, much to our great relief. The property features a sunny, open air feeling that invites the outdoors in all day long. From the kitchen to the master suite, everything was spotlessly new, clean and abundantly supplied.
The back (heated!) patio overlooks a nearby vineyard and an expansive sky that changes colors long past the evening twilight. From our retreat we were able to access world-class biking and hiking routes and downtown Healdsburg within minutes. This is a superb get-away location; we thank Nez and Brent for their top-rate hospitality!
What a pleasant surprise awaited us at the end of this curvy little mountain road. You cannot see this home from the road, it is discreetly located up a partial dirt road through the trees. A very well appointed guest house with a scenic view of vines and a huge grass area with a fire pit and private hot tub. Sadly, we were part of a larger group and didn’t get to use the outdoor space as our time was filled morning til night. The hostess was a fantastic communicator and was the first to text me to alert me when the power went out in the area. It was restored very quickly so no inconvenience was had. The oversized King bed was very comfortable as was the large sectional sofa where we enjoyed our morning taking in the view of the vines. This is the nicest vacation rental we’ve ever stayed in. Don’t hesitate to book this one, you won’t be disappointed!
Luxury, privacy, and comfort, with a hot tub and sunset views over a hillside vineyard and mountains beyond -- all just minutes from the incredible charm of downtown Healdsburg and dozens upon dozens of the best wineries you'll ever visit in your life. Or is there something else you were looking for?
Oh, right. A gourmet kitchen, spa-quality shower bathroom, possibly the most comfortable bed you'll find in a rental scenario, full-sized washer/dryer, tons of hummingbirds buzzing the purple whatchamacallit flowers on the comfortable lanai, strong A/C for summer and heat for chilly winter mornings, owners who make it all so easy...
Honestly. I'm not sure how much better this place could be -- for our anniversary getaway to the Russian River area, it was perfection.
A couple of quick recommendations:
• The driveway is steep, narrow, and has hairpin turns that are pretty challenging after dark -- so don't come in anything larger than a mid-sized SUV
• Wineries? Our favorites on this trip were A. Rafanelli and MacRostie (both well worth the reservations)
• Food? Everyone pointed us toward Baci in downtown Healdsburg. They were right. Also: Plank (just 5 minutes away) has great coffee and breakfast eats.

Disliked: Check-in, communication
Communication with owner not good, property was phenomenal
The stay at this property did not start off so well. We had no communication with the owner prior to our stay, i.e. confirming our stay, providing us contact information, how to get into the property, etc. The number to call the owner at was disconnected. Spent almost two hours on the phone with VRBO to try to get some help and finally they found a number for the owner. Once we were able to get into the property, everything else was as described. The home was clean, well stocked, private, quiet, somewhat secluded, and overall an enjoyable experience. Recommendation for those staying here would be: be sure you have contact information for the owner that works and make sure you have everything you need to get into the home before you arrive, i.e. key code to get in, etc.
Spectacular. A truly lovely retreat for two. Set atop a hill, the cottage enjoys expansive views of the Sonoma Valley to the south and a neighboring vineyard to the west. “Wine country modern chic” would be the design vibe.
While relaxing, meditating, practicing yoga, or dining on the lanai, you’ll notice a lot. A hummingbird visits the lavender. A woodpecker gently taps the redwoods. A pair of birds duels a squirrel on another tree. A bluebird graces the sunrise. Bees visit your lemonade, but depart swiftly. The morning fog burns off the distant hillside vineyard to reveal a spectacular Dry Creek Valley most every day. A copse of redwoods shades a second outdoor seating area. Space, time, weather, setting and just the right amount of space for two lead to connection, great conversations and ease.
Here are our “pro tips” for a fabulous stay at the cottage.
Bicycles - bring them; you can exit and enter the property via the fence gate to the north to access Norton Road (paved). Ride to town for dinner via Kinley Road.
Walking - don your hikers and walk down the drive and across the street, then cross the road into the vineyard and make your way to 32 Winds Wine; check out the 1950’s autos piled in the woods along the creek. Walk further west along Dry Creek Road to Comstock Winery for a lovely tasting.
Coffee - surprise your partner by waking early to make a run to Plank Coffee; order ahead from your phone via the site that pops up on their Google Maps profile.
DoorDash - Kinsmoke, Pizzando and El Farolito are the primary options as of this writing. Be sure to call your Dasher on their way over to coach them something like this, “Turn right off Dry Creek Road after the 45 mph sign, then veer half-right past the ‘no trespassing’ and ‘beware of dog’ signs on your left and a barn on your right, then up a curvy, mostly gravel hill about ⅓ mile, then at the circle stay right up to the building that looks like a freestanding garage.”
WiFi - It’s good enough for two desk-based professionals to work remotely and use Zoom simultaneously. Nez kindly put a new small desk in the bedroom to enable us to work with one of us in the bedroom and one of us at the dining table.
Picnic - take your picnic lunch from Dry Creek General Store and enjoy a picnic table, bocce ball and cornhole at Martorana Family Winery; be sure to walk down to the creek, slip off your flip flops and soak your feet in the cool creek; arrive before 5 pm.
Enjoy!
