About this property

A private oceanfront luxury suite. Government discounts offered upon inquiry.

We are located on Prince of Wales Island in Craig, Alaska. Our non-smoking suite provides beautiful waterfront views of wild life; along with amazing sunrises and sunsets. The newly designed kitchen offers quartz counter tops and is fully equipped with a variety of eating and cooking utensils such as; an electric skillet; an electric hot water pot; a stainless steel refrigerator; microwave; toaster; and a Keurig Coffee Maker (coffee provided.) For your cooking pleasure, a Gas BBQ Grill is located right off the kitchen, on a small deck which is attached to your own private entry way. The large bedroom has a queen size bed; and comes with a futon style couch. There is a 30" television; with several streaming channels and an ironing board with iron. A full sized chest of drawers; two night stands; and there are several USB locations available to charge your electronic devices. Our full bathroom offers granite counter tops; a blow dryer; towels; and the shower is equipped with a dispenser that provides body wash; shampoo; and conditioner. Down the hall there is a separate TV room with a large sleeper sofa which pulls out into a queen size bed; (bedding provided). Unlimited Wi-Fi is provided for free throughout the suite. In the backyard, we offer a gas pit, ; and chairs are available so you can enjoy quiet evenings outside by the fire, while taking in the spectacular waterfront views. Now with new boat fishing, whale watching sight seeing options are available. Contact Curtis for availability. We have several home security camera’s on the outside, around the property.

The place was clean, perfectly located right on the beach, close to shops in Craig. Not having a stove or oven might be a problem for some but it worked just fine with the electric skillet and large microwave. Bring enough clothes since there isn’t a washer or dryer, but at the price and location it’s a worthwhile trade off for us.

A room with a view

Curtis is a fantastic host and very knowledgeable about the area. He also has great connections in the tourism industry and was able to connect us with a great boat captain to take us out on a sightseeing excursion. The apartment is very clean and beautiful. It is an upper level of the home with amazing views of mountains and ocean.

Very clean and soothing atmosphere. Curtis and Wendy were superior. Fishing was a great experience. Tranquil part of the island. We loved being able to relax and enjoy the forest. The facility was clean and well equipped. There is nothing negative to say except make transportation arrangements in advance.

A perfect gem.

We absolutely adored our vacation here. The perfect location with amazing views and amenities. Check in was super easy and Curtis was fantastic with getting us settled in. The room was spacious and modern. Cutely decorated. Super comfortable. The eagle nest at the end of the driveway was a great bonus. An ideal host. Far Exceeded Our Expectations!

What an incredible property! The Lighthouse Inn apartment is incredible. We've rarely stayed at a place so immaculate, well-stocked and furnished with such an amazing view! Everything about it was spectacular, including the art work, bed linens and appliances. The hosts were so accommodating and Curtis went above and beyond as a tremendous host. The biggest surprise was the new paved stone patio and gas fire pit with spectacular water and mountain views which we were welcome to use at any time. The location is perfect, close to town and great trails within walking distance. If we ever return to Prince of Wales, this is where we'll stay! Thank you Wendy and Curtis for a great stay and memorable 4th of July!!!

10-Star Accommodations!

It's hard to find the right words to describe the tranquil benefits that come with staying at this property. My husband and I were there for the 4th of July holiday, so the experience may differ depending on time of year, but wow....every morning I was greeted by the sight of eagles soaring through the sky or just sitting on the shore eyeballing a tasty treat. I literally spent countless number of hours just watching the tide come in while enjoying my coffee - conveniently supplied by the hosts, Curtis and Wendy. Which leads me to a review of their remarkable hospitality. Not only do they offer a portion of their beautiful home for guests to enjoy, but they fill it full of goodies and other amenities that are a nice treat when compared to staying at a hotel. (The propane outdoor fire pit was the best - no smelling like burnt wood when crawling into bed.) They were gracious and continued to check on us throughout our stay to make sure we had everything we needed. To say this was a trip of a lifetime is an understatement. We will return, and with any luck, Curtis and Wendy won't be booked out to infinity!!

Travel nurse’s dream!

I was lucky enough to stay at Lighthouse Inn for the entirety of my travel nurse contract. I had the best view in the whole town. I think saw a bald eagle from every window in the apartment. Not to mention being able to sit and watch the whales! Cemetery Trail is within walking distance and there is a bike path immediately in front of the property, which happens to lead to the clinic in town. Was just over a mile to Peacehealth Prince of Wales Clinic and not too bad of a walk, weather permitting. The driveway had plenty of room for parking the clinic car. ARMC SEARHC would also be a quick 5-10 minute commute. I found the accommodations extremely comfortable for an extended stay. I had to wake up early for work each day and never had any difficulty with the noise level. The neighborhood itself is in a quieter, more private, part of town. Wendy and Curtis made my stay so memorable and truly went out of their way to make sure I was as comfortable as possible. I would love to come back!

Great Experience

Work Trip - Independent Contractor. I was asked to travel to Craig, Alaska during winter! Trying to set plans, I decided to try VRBO. I look for the nicest place to stay. I found be Brown’s place. I made the reservation and received a quick reply. The best happened after. Being on my own, I started to ask questions of Curtis . He is very friendly and helpful. The place very well done. Curtis walked me through the unit. They had purchased snacks and water. I could not have asked for a better host or experience. I was able to complete my work and visit the island. I highly recommend the Browns and their unit for your stay. I hope to visit again for vacation.

Me and Wendy were married June of 2000. I work on the Alaska Inter-Island ferry as First Officer and I also dive in a local commercial dive fishery for geoducks. Wendy is a librarian at the Craig grade school. I enjoy meeting new people and making new friends through our B and B. If I am available and there is ever anything I can do to make my guest stay easier or more enjoyable please let me know.

Why they chose this property

When we purchased this lot it was a nice beach lot with a trailer and lots of tree's. Then a wind storm came through and broke a large branch free that landed on our trailer. This started the wheels in motion. We repaired our trailer and moved it into the local trailer park. Soon after we hired a local contractor to remove the trees and develop the lot putting in sewer and underground lines and filling it in with rock and building our rock wall. We then hired the same general contractor to build our home to our designed plans. I took about 8 1/2 months to build our home. After our son left and started college we decided to turn that area of our home into a bed and breakfast. We have both really enjoyed sharing our beautiful home and location with guests, while also offering 5 star accommodations.

What makes this property unique

All of our guests that stay at our B and B say that the combination of the of the amazing location and excellent accommodations, and privacy of having there own room with no other guests around make this a location that they want to return to.
