Elegant villa with magnificent views of Isola Bella, in a luxury residence

Elegant villa on three levels with garden of exclusive use, which is part of a prestigious complex, located in Taormina Mare, located right opposite the ISOLA BELLA (now WWF Nature Reserve).

The complex has a large private car park (with allocated parking space for each apartment), a private pool with sea water (this last is operational from 1st May to mid-October) and once in the pool you have the magical feeling of being immersed in the beautiful cobalt blue waters. The rocky beach for the exclusive use, has access via an elevator built inside the rocky ridge and is also accessible through an impressive stone staircase. The beach is equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas reserved for guests and has, since the middle of June, walkways and ladders for direct access to the beautiful waters of the bay.


Structure of the dwelling: The house is spread over three floors and consists of:
• A large living room with dining room and kitchen on the ground floor;
• Two bedrooms with sea view (one double and one with two single beds) and two bathrooms with shower on the first floor, connected to the ground floor with spiral staircase;
• A third double bedroom with its bathroom with shower, on the second floor. This is a two-room connected to the main structure by a few external stairs: independent but very close to the central body;
• External porch equipped with dining table and chairs;
• Enchanting garden (partly with lawn and partly tiled) with elegant tropical plants and flowers, equipped with umbrella and comfortable armchairs, with an amazing view of the bay of Isola Bella and the Calabrian coast
• All rooms in the house are equipped with air conditioning system with hot and cold air.

Excursion tips: From Taormina you can hike, even daily, in many places of Sicily including: ETNA, the largest active volcano in Europe, the Alcantara Gorges, whose most striking reach 25m in height and give life to a spectacular canyon, the beautiful Aeolian Islands, reached the port of Milazzo, the medieval village of CASTELMOLA, MESSINA, with ORTIGIA SYRACUSE, an island joined to the mainland by three bridges and filled with wonderful examples of Baroque architecture, the precious cities of the late Baroque of the Val di Noto (Modica, Catania, Palazzolo Acreide, Militello Val di Catania, Noto, Caltagirone, Ragusa and Scicli, all declared Unesco Heritage), Villa Romana del Casale in Piazza Armerina with its mosaics of inestimable value , Agrigento with its Valley of the temples where you can see these ancient monuments in their majesty and splendor.

Golf: For golf enthusiasts, 30km from Taormina, in the territory of Castiglione and just below the volcano, the PICCIOLO GOLF CLUB, an 18-hole course that creep through forests of oak, hazel and rows of vineyards.

The property is great and the hostess is incredible. She is there to assist with anything you may need, is extremely responsive, is attentive, caring, and extremely kind. We felt like family by the time we were leaving.The main issues we had were:1) There was no access to the beach and we thought there was.2) There was an extra electricity charge for going over a certain wattage which made the stay a little stressful for having to always think about what lights were on and is the AC being used frugally3) The TV was tiny and old and you could not stream anything on it.To be fair, items 1 and 2 were disclosed in the listing of the property but we didn't catch them and were negatively surprised when we learned them upon arrival. The beach was the biggest thing because it would have made the stay completely different. The pool at the property is small and is shared among 25-30 apartments so if it is crowded, I can see how it would be quite unpleasant. Fortunately, when we were there, the pool was not busy, and the hostess actually offered to "give to us" her pool chair in case we needed it. Apparently the rule is, one pool chair per apartment.The apartment itself is amazing. Spacious, well proportioned, has everything you need. The views are breathtaking and the best thing about the place. Overall, we had a great time and I recommend the apartment and especially the hostess!

Great location, in need of update

Location and access to the beach was fantastic. However, the apartment itself was very dated (fridge, cooking utensils, cutlery etc more like a camping trip than an upmarket apartment) and the back bedrooms, whilst sizeable, were dark and smelt slightly damp. Overall, the location sells this apartment, however the interior/utilities are neglected/lacking.

Beautiful location but not for those with disabilities

I have disability and it was challenging for me. Everything is very vertical, which makes it beautiful but difficult. Town is a bit of a walk with much of the walk on a narrow road with lots of traffic. Owner of the property is very conscientious and responsive. Do plan on bringing paper goods and extra soap.. you will run out if you are staying for a daybor two.

I want to point out wrong observations in your review. If you had read the advertisement carefully you would have realized the structure of the house. It is described in detail and right at the beginning it says that the villa is on three floors. Only one bedroom with loft(not two as you wrote),precisely the back suite on two floors,bedroom is upstairs and ceiling height is not as low as you would like to believe;the height is more than two meters so that even guests taller than you felt perfectly at ease,no one has ever complained. Even though advertisement says that there are coffee machines with moka,I provided an espresso machine immediately after your check in(just one hour later),together with a pack of fifty capsules. Like other holiday houses managers do in the same complex,upon arrival some bottles of water are provided,guests buy everything they need at the suggested supermarket. As regards electricity the advertisement ,like other houses in the complex,among the rules of the house,says that in case guests exceed a certain number of kilowatts,they will pay the excess of usage upon departure. On your arrival you peacefully checked with me actual values,agreed to compare them and pay any excess on departure, if there were any:otherwise on departure you refused to check and pay any surplus,being the only guests who did not respect this rule. Everybody has always paid any surplus peacefully,without arguing.

Not what we expected

This property is listed as follows: "Elegant villa with magnificent views of Isola Bella, in a luxury residence." 2/3 of that description is false. This is not an "elegant villa". It is a dated, condo unit in a crowded, loud, apartment complex. It also is about as far from "luxury" as you can imagine. That said, it does have magnificent views off the grassy area behind the unit, but you share that view with dozens of other unit owners whose property lines run into one another. I will not go into the various issues we encountered during our stay because the owner did her best to remedy the problems we told her about. But I would like all potential renters to know this is not a stand-alone house, nor is the sleek pool shown in the listing in the backyard. It is way down the corridor and shared by hundreds of other people. To say we were disappointed upon our arrival is an understatement. To make matters worse, when looking at places to rent we filtered using the "house" feature, and this place came up. That was not the case - it is a condo unit, one of a slew in the complex. We would never have selected this apartment had we known. If you're looking for an amazing view, and don't mind an old, tired apartment, this place is perfect. If you're looking for a "luxury villa", this ain't it.

Stunning views from garden, need a car.

Six adults have just had a week at the Blue house. We enjoyed it but think future applicants should have a bit more information. It is a stunning location with a garden overlooking Isolabella and the bay. The owner, Antonia, who lives next door, could not be more helpful and caring. This property is in a terrace of 24 similar properties on the cliff top. It is entered from the car park, which is on top of the buildings by walking down 51 steps to a sort of open tunnel with the main residence on the sea side and opposite another sitting room with a bedroom above. This bedroom has no windows and the sitting room only has a small window onto the open tunnel. There is a lift at the far end of the car park down to the level of the residences but the passageway goes slightly uphill and has a number os small flights of steps. The swimming pool, which was not in use while we were there, looks lovely but is a communal pool for all 24 residences. There are steep narrow steps down the cliff face to the sea where there is a small stone platform or two but no beach that we could see. It is possible to walk to the main beach, that can be seen in the picture, but most of the way you have to walk along the road with the traffic and in places this is narrow. It is possible to drive down there but parking is almost impossible. Taormina itself is charming and well worth a visit or two. It is high up on the hillside and is possible to walk up there but we would not recommend it. Parking is very difficult except for a multi-storey car park at the Porto. To go shopping you certainly need the car. There is a bus that goes up to the town but as far as we could see only went about every two hours. One day we did park the car in Taormina and walked to the castle high above the town. That was a stiff walk but well worth it for the views and feeling of satisfaction. we had some good drives into the countryside and walked there. The house is well equipped except that it does not have wifi which we found frustrating because we are so used to using it for information and even the mobile phone signal was too slow to use for the internet. The house also does not have a microwave. We enjoyed having coffee, lunch and drinks in the cafes on the beaches.

Dear Colin, it was a pleasure to have you and your friends my guests at Blue House and hope your travel back home was fine. As regards the apartment opposite to the seaside, with the entrance in front of the main door, I'm really sorry as you wrote that the bedroom on the upper floor has no windows and the sitting room only has a small one. Actually this independent apartment of 40 square meters is on 2 floors: the sitting room and the bathroom are on the ground floor, the bedroom on the 1st floor. It has totally 4 windows (each one is 80 square centimeters ) of which 2 onto the corridor and they are shared out as follows: 1 window in the sitting room, 1 in the bathroom and the other 2 in the bedroom above. Of these 4 windows, 2 have a traditional opening while the other 2 tilting opening. One of the 2 windows in the bedroom (on the upper floor) can be seen in the picture ( the bedroom with light blue furnishings ), close to the wardrobe. I'm sorry for wifi but, when booking, I had asked to read carefully all house's characteristics shown on the advertisement. The microwave is not listed as well, nevertheless if you had asked me I would have gladly provided it. The pool (filled with sea water ) is open from the 1st of May until mid October. Even if reserved for all the guests of the residence, I can assure it's not so crowded. The only month when there are more people is mid July-mid August, when most of 24 properties are occupied. The rocky beach in the pictures is equipped (from mid June, according to the rules of the residence) with deck chairs, umbrellas and ladders fixed to the rocks allowing to plunge into the sea. About buses going up to the center of Taormina, I'm really sorry you've been waiting 2 hours. Because of your complaint, I went to the information desk . They told me there should be a run every 20 minutes. If I had been informed before, I would have gone to the office during your stay to know the reason of such a delay. I was pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay and appreciated my help and care.

The place was spacious, with wonderful views of the sea and a nice living room and yard to share with my friends. Yard furniture was new and very nice. The pool and the sea level rocks area were very nice! A little walk down the hall to get there but it was worth it. There were a couple issues with the water pressure and some ants in the bathroom but the host took care of that right away. A couple of the beds were hard, no blankets or comforters. Kitchen was well stocked. The separate apartments across the hall were interesting as part of the condo but for singles and family members who want to be separate it was perfect. All in all it was a great stay.

Spectaculaire vue sur Isola Bella & piscine infinie

L’hôte Antonia est adorable, accueillante et disponible. Sa villa a une vue spectaculaire sur la Baie Isola Bella et un grand jardin pour l’apéro au coucher de soleil ou faire jouer les enfants. Les 2 chambres principales ont cette même vue à couper le souffle. Nous avons aussi beaucoup aimé la piscine infinie partagée. La plage privée partagée avec les autres condos du regroupement est un bel endroit pour venir se prélasser et contempler l’entrée de la Grotta dell’amore, il y a une échelle pour descendre dans la mer mais ce n’est pas facile comme entrée pour la baignade puisque même avec une mer calme, cela brasse beaucoup contre les rochers. C’est grand et 2 sections sont séparées du logement principal. Le seul bémol serait la désuétude de la plupart du mobiler des chambres notamment, mais le living room était une pièce centrale fort jolie. Nous avons beaucoup apprécié notre séjour et le recommandons sans hésiter :)

Fantastisk beliggenhet ogbutsiky!

Boligen er en leilighet over flere plan som har en fantastisk beliggenhet på toppen av klippene nedenfor Taormina og nær sjøen. Vi besøkte stedet litt sent i sesongen og det var dermed noe færre folk enn det nok kan være midtsommers. Ulempen var at vaktmesteren hadde pakket bort badetrapper nede på den private klippe-stranden som hører til leiligheten. Dette var veldig synd og kunne godt vært opplyst om i annonsen. Videre var det ikke WiFi i leiligheten. Vi savnet også myggnetting på dørene og ble grundig oppspist av mygg. Men dette er detaljer; det var virkelig en helt fantastisk ferieuke!

idyllique

Taormina est vraiment un endroit formidable. L'appartement d'Antonia est fidèle à la description et aux photos. Cependant, il réserve encore de bien belles surprises... l'escalier et l'ascenseur d'accès au coin baignade privé est digne d'un bon vieux 007. La vue est superbe et si, en plus, vous avez la chance d'assister à un levé de lune... La gentillesse d'Antonia n'a d'égal que sa disponibilité pour vous conseiller de bonnes petites adresses. Donc voilà, on peut dire que notre séjour est réussi.

A beautiful view

As a family we had a fantastic time at Antonia’s villa - she was a gracious host and checked in continuously during our stay as she lives in the villa next door. The villa has the most amazing views of isola Bella - a beautiful setting built into a cliff face and a short drive up to Taormina. If visiting highly recommend hiring a car for the time you are there, there is parking for one spot on site but without a car it would be difficult to see the rest of Sicily. The accommodation itself as mentioned by other reviewers is split across the main corridor which gives privacy to all the rooms however it’s worth noting that all the bedrooms are upstairs with the living space downstairs. There are facilities to cook if you wish but essentials like cooking oil are not provided. The balcony provides beautiful views! The pool has an amazing view and theres an elevator to the private beach for this property however the walkways to the water at the beach were old and broken and due for repair so we only swam in the pool.

What a fantastic location ! Our children aged 10,12 and 14 loved snorkelling on the private beach and as we stayed in August we were surprised to have the entire pool area to ourselves some days ! It’s just a short walk into the small town where there are a few restaurants or you can ride the cable car up to Taormina which has a vast choice of restaurants, shops and the amphitheater. We drove a little further around the coast and found some fantastic beaches and went to Mount Etna which is a must. The villa is traditional in style and does have a quirky lay out but was clean, new shower curtains in place etc and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Antonia lives next door and is most helpful advising on where to eat, visit, etc All in all a very memorable family holiday !

Une semaine formidable

Ma famille et moi (6 personnes au total) sommes arrivés à la résidence le samedi 4 août 2018. Nous avons été accueillis très chaleureusement par Antonella malgré une heure tardive (1h du matin) qui nous a alors présenté sa villa. Cette dernière est parfaitement conforme aux photos, très grande, très propre et très bien organisée. En effet, la villa se divise en plusieurs niveaux permettant à chacun de disposer de sa propre chambre et de sa propre salle de bain (et de sa propre clim!!!!). La vue est époustouflante, en effet, la villa donne sur la mer et plus particulièrement sur Isola Bella. De magnifiques paysages sont à découvrir notamment quand on se rend à la piscine ou à la plage privée (décor idyllique pour les amateurs de masques et de tubas). De plus, Taormina ne se situe qu'à quelques kilomètres, il très sympa de s'y rendre en téléphérique et de s'y promener. La villa est également proche de Giardini-Naxos permettant de découvrir de nouvelles plages. Enfin, Antonella a été très conviviale, d'une particulière gentillesse et à notre écoute durant notre séjour. Elle nous a même laissé deux places de Parking au sein de la résidence afin de pouvoir stationner nos véhicules. Je recommande vivement et sans hésitation cette location !

Very nice

We have just come back from a two week vacation at Antonias house. We had a very pleasant stay, as Antonia is a wonderful host and she did everthing to make us feel at home. The villa is situated on top of the rock overlooking the bay of the Isola Bella, which is a stunning view. Just for that, it's worth the price. We had our two teenage kids with us, so the separate bedrooms (across the hallway) were perfect. There was lots of space for all our things and the place was very clean. Antonia even arranged for complete clean-up and change of sheets and towels after our first week. Although the furniture and the kitchen equipment were not brandnew, everthing worked as it should have and we had more than we needed. The villa is well suitable for 6. Thank you so much Antonia, we had a great time !

View was outstanding, sadly the villa was very disappointing, in need of lots of TLC and upgrading.

The view from the villa gardens and the back of the house is awesome. Be aware that the villa is split into three separate sections, two of the bedrooms are not in the house, so families beware! We arrived to find one old and battered garden chair, (for 6 guests) oven not working, neither did the toaster work, the kettle supplied was big enough to make two cups of tea, ridiculous size for 6 people. Admittedly the owner did furnish us with 4 more garden chairs the day after we arrived, replaced the toaster and kettle, and offered us a portable contraption in the garden to compensate for the oven, which we didn’t use! Rusty waste bins, taps, dirty grouting, cracked tiles in the bathrooms, ripped shower curtain, a broken window in the lounge, filthy light fittings, hairs on the bed throws, just totally unacceptable for the price! Also there are so many rules to be obeyed around the complex, if you plan to sit out in the garden be aware there is a curfew after 10.00 pm, they also request no cackling around the pool, bins only allowed to be taken out in the evening the list goes on! We had taken 4 of our friends as guests, had this not been the case we would have moved out, so we had to make the best of the holiday that we could. It would have been impossible to have everything rectified as the villa needs a thorough overhaul. We only complained about the furniture and cooking facilities whilst we were there. I did email the owner upon our return, but had a very standard (as per a recent review online)and poor response. I find this difficult to complain on line as I appreciate that running a business isn’t easy, I would only do this if I felt it was truly unacceptable, hence the reason for this review.
