Quiet with a few quirks
There were a few inconveniences during our stay (broken blender & hood fan, neighbor's dog wandering the property, etc.). But overall this property is what it is advertised as. A quiet, secluded place to rest and relax away from everyday life
- House is full of dust
- All beds are making lots of noise
- No oven and blender
- All kitchen equipment are old
- The hot water comes only in one place, if you turn on in another place it doesn’t work
- 3 kids and an adult have rashes after the trip, not sure what is the reason
Sorry for sharing our experience, but please take it in a good way, this may help your business. As the localtion and the surrounding is awesome

I disagree with many accusations in this review. There certainly is an oven in the house and also a toaster oven. If you had sent a message about wanting to use a blender, one would have been provided. There are 16 beds in the house, I don’t think all of the beds are making noise unless the kids were jumping on them. The appliances in the house might be older and they all work. My cleaner checked all of the bathrooms and kitchen for hot water and they all have it. Maybe someone took an inordinately long shower and it ran out for a short while. We definitely have poison ivy on the property so the rashes could have been from that. We are in the country.
Renting the house I did not realize it was a spiritual retreat, it just was large enough to meet our needs and the price was right. Once we arrived and realized it was more than we could have asked for. It was absolutely amazing. We felt renewed and energized upon our leaving. Ellen was quick to respond before our arrival with any and all questions. Can't wait hopefully come back next year!
Ellen's property is wonderful. Our family really enjoyed all of the property. The fire pit area is a great place to hang out and the trails around the property were great for taking the dog out. The location is perfect. Close to a few small towns including Gold Hill, which is a must see, with shops and things to see and do. The zoo is just over 30 minutes away. We would recommend.
This place was exactly what we needed for our wedding party to stay at since they were all traveling from different states. I love the fact we had a place to sit down and relax at the fire pit so we all could catch up.

About the host

I have been a Business Owner and Innkeeper for the past 15 years. My gift is being able to connect with people and make them feel at home and pampered. I practiced as a massage therapist for 20 years. I grew up in Columbia, SC, graduated from Clemson University, traveled in Europe for a year, and then settled in Portland, OR for 22 years. Sunshine brought me back to the south and now I am truly blessed to be living on this sacred land. We have created an awesome, peaceful, joyous, and loving space which you can explore, experience, and take home with you. My faithful companion Murphy pictured in my picture showed up here in 2013 and is a great Inn dog. Since June of 2015, I also have a Ropes Challenge course here at the retreat center which is used for team building.
Why they chose this property
This property is very magical and healing in and of itself.
What makes this property unique
We have a meditation labyrinth on site, an energy vortex, several yurts, hiking trails, and we have no light pollution so stargazing is amazing.
