1. We arrived at 4:30pm. The lock box was broken and frozen. The #6 key was broken off and inoperable. We needed #6 as part of the code. Maintenance showed up at 5:30, confirmed that lock box was broken and very out of date. The pad to the garage door did work, but we still needed a key because the door from the garage to the home was locked. Maintenance agent did not have a key with him. Agent returned to maintenance, came back with a key. After 2 hours, we finally were able to move in. A truly wretched experience. You must install a modern lock box that is not broken and can operate in snowy weather below freezing.2. Once in, we noticed a smoke alarm was chirping due to low battery. Agent did not stay around to make sure property was ok. As property managers, do you change smoke alarm batteries at least once/year? With some difficulty, we identified the chirping smoke alarm 30 feet in the air at the roof line. We found a 30 foot extension ladder in garage, brought it up two flights of stairs and down one flight. Our next challenge was to find a 9 volt battery, which we did and the chirping stopped. Inconveniently, we left the ladder in place in case of another failure. I give property management a grade of F, and the property itself is excellent.

We're very sorry for the issues you experienced during check-in and for the inconvenience caused by the lockbox and smoke alarm. We understand how frustrating this must have been, and we truly appreciate your patience as our team worked to assist you. While they did their best to resolve the situation as quickly as possible, we recognize that this was not the experience you expected or deserved. We will be looking into these concerns to ensure they don’t happen again in the future.
Thank you for your feedback, and we’re glad to hear you found the property itself excellent. We hope you’ll consider staying with us again so we can provide a smoother experience next time.

Beautiful views, but...
The views were so beautiful from the living room! However, there were a number of things that the property didn't disclose. Multiple broken screen doors, keys that didn't work in the upstairs front door, fixtures that didn't work to open and close the windows and, strangely, a completely closed off window/door under heavy construction in one of the downstairs bedrooms. It appeared that the door/window had been torn out - we could see the construction along an entire part of the siding from the outside, held together with bolts and cinder blocks.
Also, there is no AC, which I understand isn't necessary year-round, but Truckee is dry and hot! It was 80+ degrees in the unit, even with fans going and windows open to let in a breeze.
This is a beautiful home! However, it was in need of a thorough cleaning and pest control.
The Good: The views are beautiful from the home, and it is really a big beautiful house. The kitchen is lovely and has great equipment, though the small oven doesn't heat. When we arrived the home had not had more than a very basic cleaning, there was dust and cobwebs everywhere, crumbs and food in corners as well as a dirty refrigerator that had not been cleaned at all. The main issues are the dirt, dust and the spiders. The home has beautiful expansive beamed ceilings that are a wonderful nesting place for spiders. There were at least 8 HUGE nests with egg sacks in the great room as well as the live spiders that needed to go! The house has beautiful personal decor that hasn't been cleaned in a long time, so the allergens in the home are rough for anyone with any dust sensitivities. The BBQ was brand new and didn't work . The property owners need someone to come out and fix many of the issues. Some of the beds are in severe need of being replaced, the couches in the great room are so dusty you cannot enjoy sitting for any length of time, one of the showers only has a trickle of cold water. There was still 1/2 decorated Christmas tree in June, windows that are hard to open or missing cranks. On the exterior there are many railings that are broken or missing, exterior lights that are broken off, there are sliding door/windows that a boarded up, a pile of lumber is out the door on the way to the BBQ, weeds everywhere.
It is truly a beautiful home that needs TLC, cleaning, pest control, new beds, new couches, outdoor maintenance. It is obvious that the owner of this home poured a lot of love into it, there a beautiful things in the home, but it has not been taken care of. If it gets the help it needs you will LOVE this house!!!
Not just a rental, a beautiful home. We loved every minute of our stay, from the well equipped kitchen, spacious kids bedrooms, wonderful views of the surrounding areas and the comfortable indoor and outdoor spaces.
Amazing views perched at very top of Tahoe Donner. Large luxurious cabin. Great if you don’t mind being far from stores. Lots of hiking in neighborhood.

Would rent again
We had a great experience at this home. Very close to the ski resort! House is well stocked. My only complaint was I would expect TV’s and DVD player that would weren’t so ancient for such a “luxury” property. We couldn’t even watch a Blue Ray movie! With those changes it would be top notch.
