A beautiful country property with a private swimming pool and spectacular views

Finca la Luz is nestled in the country hillside, set in an acre of carob, olive and almond groves. With magnificent mountain top views and of the Castillo de Aguila (Castle of Eagles), said to date back to the Romans.

A 10 minutes walk up the rustic track and you arrive in the charming whitewashed village. A tangle of narrow, winding streets which was once a haven for brandy and tobacco smugglers. Here you will find authentic tapas bars, fabulous restaurants, supermarkets and unique shops.

Gaucin, the birthplace of opera’s most famous heroine Carmen, is situated in the idyllic Serrania de Ronda, 620 metres above sea level. The romantic pueblo blanco in Andalucia has been described by The Times as having the ‘Best views in Europe ‘ and The Telegraph as ‘the most picture-perfect of white-walled Spanish towns’. With the breathtaking landscape across the River Genal Valley, the Mediterranean Sea, Gibraltar and the Rif mountains of Morocco.

Gaucín is famous for the international artists living in the whitewashed village.
Hidden amongst the streets are the studios of more than 20 artists. They open up their doors to showcase their latest works during Art Gaucin which is held every year. A truly unique and unforgettable experience.

Local festivities are passionately celebrated in the village, from the summer feria where the local band march through the village, riders in sombreros and this year’s beauty queens in horse-driven carriages. Other celebrations include Easter, Santo Niño and more...

Visit the Roman ruins of the Castillo de Aguila, a 30 minutes walk from the Finca. Take in the breathtaking landscape and discover the charming chapel to Santo Niño. Opening times vary so ensure you check beforehand.

Surrounded by nature, you will hear the sound of the Cicadas In High Summer and
out on your country walks you will come across sheep, mules, horses, goats…

The Finca is to a very good standard with a fitted kitchen with dishwasher, utility room where you will find the washing machine and iron and ironing board. Wood burning stove in the living area. Gas wall heaters throughout the Finca, WIFI, SMART TV, DVD, Gas Barbecue. Parking for 4 cars.

The magnificent outdoor space is positioned over four levels - a master bedroom terrace that has spectacular 360 views, the kitchen terrace for alfresco dining, the Azul Moroccan room to chill out and the pool with plenty of space for sunbathing. All of which take in the majestic views of the Andalucian mountains and countryside with sun from dawn until dusk.

To have the most enjoyable stay ensure you read the Visitors Information Booklet at the Finca. You will find information regarding local walks, bird watching, horse riding, nearby sightseeing. We also offer in-house catering, massage, manicure and pedicure. You can also visit the village gym for a workout, spin class or Pilates.

1.5 hours drive from Malaga airport or 50 minutes drive from Gibraltar airport.

THE most stunning villa, in THE most stunning area, with THE most stunning views - we've been (we think) 8 times, and love it. Recent upgrades and redecoration are fabulous and just make what was always a perfect stay even better. Erika is a fabulous property manager and the team there bend over backwards to help. But this is simply the most wonderful place - quiet, peaceful, and stunningly beautiful. Thank you!!

perfect week in Gaucin

really impressed with Jonathan and Kyri's villa. Everything you might need was provided, everything was of high quality. Pool amazing, views so good you don't want to leave. We were looked after well by Erika who sorted some small issues promptly. highly recommended.

This villa has it all. The location was perfect for us, proximity to the village and the coast with all amenities you could wish for. And the view, just spectacular from every angle. Great stay in a great villa.

We loved it

Beautiful villa set in stunning scenery. The views from the dining terrace were incredible. Only a short distance (2mins in the car) from Gaucin - we enjoyed many afternoons walking around this beautiful town, taking advantage of the many great places to eat (tapas was great). Would gladly return to stay here again.

This was our second stay at the Finca. It's absolutely beautiful in terms of both location and the thought that has gone into the rooms, decor, and facilities. We find we sleep really well, truly get some rest and relaxation and don't want to leave!

Beautiful house in a stunning location

The Serrania De Ronda is a stunning area of Spain. Only 30 min drive to the coast but tucked away in the mountains Gaucin is a beautiful whitewashed Andalucian village full of history and culture. Finca Da Luz is down a quiet lane with breathtaking views from the terraces. A perfect location to relax as well as a base to explore

Nature at its best

The property is described as having rustic charm. In some areas I would agree, in others absolutely not. In particular the bathrooms. We found all three to be incredibly old, out of date and dirty. Were it not for Natures contribution i.e. location of Finca and views, there could possibly be more detrimental comments. Nevertheless we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this location.

Just returned from our trip to Finca La Luz and the town of Gaucin. The experience couldnt have been better. The house and grounds were wonderful. It felt very homey and we setlled in immediately. Erika did a great job of getting us to the house and was always available to help if needed.Everything we needed was provided in the Finca Wa quickly fell in love with Gaucin and the many places to have relaxing meals and tapas. Overall I cant say enough positive about the house and the area. Thank you Jonathan and Kiri for allowing us to make such lasting memories

A little piece of paradise

This summer was our 7th holiday in Finca la Luz and it never, ever fails to recharge our spirits and make our souls sing! The villa is beautiful with a terrace full of little hideaways to curl up with a book, to meditate, to do a workout, or to simply drink a chilled glass of chardonnay. We spend our days in the pool gazing out at the surrounding view whilst reading, singing, or playing fiercely competitive games of water tennis. When we're not eating out at the local tapas bars or restaurants, we're making the most of the local deli and their takeaways, and chilling out on the verandah whilst watching shooting stars and playing cards. A holiday in Finca la Luz is quite simply respite for the soul; it is a little piece of paradise that our family is so grateful to Jonathon and Kyri for sharing.

Great view!

The views from every level of this house were awesome. When you opened up the house you could hear all that was going on outside like the birds, sheep bells, etc. The house was comfortable and well equipped for our needs. Being close to town, but not in town was nice. You could easily walk to town for groceries and eating out, but yet you were out away from the hectic part of town located in a very peaceful and serene spot. We used the home as a hub for exploring the neighboring area, so it was a great central location for us. There was plenty of hot water and a good shower which felt good. There was a pool which would have been great in warm weather, however the weather while we were there in March was a little too cool for swimming. We loved our stay there and hope to return some day!

Breathtaking views

This house had the most beautiful views of any house we've ever rented - and we've rented a lot of houses. It was comfortable and had everything we needed. The owner and property manager were both helpful and the village of Gaucin charming and only a 10 mins walk up the road. My only concern about the house was the small bedroom, which did not have a window to the outside (the frosted window opened onto a storage area). Also, it did not have an ensuite bathroom, as described in VRBO, but one up a flight of stairs, on the 1rst floor. The lack of an ensuite wasn't a huge problem but should have been pointed out, as the lack of a real window in the bedroom. Aside from this disappointment, we thought the house was lovely and recommend it, though not for 3 couples.

Great view and beautiful villa

The view was amazing and the house was full of great details. The interior of the house looked good and the colors went well together. Only the strong Majorelle Blue color of the terrace above the pool seemed too strong at first, but when Erika told us that the house had a lot of Moroccan influences, then the color of the terrace started to seem better.The kitchen had a gas stove, an electric oven and a large enough fridge freezer. The house had two large bedrooms, the third small bedroom we used as a storage room for our luggage.The house was really clean and pleasantly quiet, although the shop and restaurants were within walking distance. The short gravel road could have been a little better, though. It was nice to cook dinner yourself on the Weber gas grill on the terrace for a change.The power outage in all of Spain on April 28, 2025 was an interesting experience, nothing worked, but we managed to make coffee on the gas stove by lighting it with a match. Erika also came to make sure that we were doing well. We couldn't get out of the gates by car because they were powered by electricity.It was also easy to visit Ronda, Casares and the Mediterranean coast. It was great to watch the amazing thunderstorm and lightning from the terrace of the house on 2.5.2025.Warm thanks to Jonathan and Kyrie for the opportunity to spend nice days from 24.4. to 8.5.2025 in your beautiful villa. Thanks also to the house manager Erika for her thorough guidance and heartfelt care.

Beautiful and relaxing

Our family with teenagers had a lovely stay in Jonathan and Kyri's villa. It was a perfect place to relax together (and separately!) while also enjoying some adventures in the surrounding area. The house and terraces are full of charming places to sit with a book or laptop (good wifi). The pool was an absolute delight, big enough to swim and with such amazing views. We really loved Gaucin castle as well, so to see it from the house and pool, including lit up at night, added to the magic of the place. When it is hot, the walk through town to the castle (or clamber round the rocks below it, using the description in the detailed walk book in the house) provides a short enough but still satisfying outing (castle open 6-8pm most but not all days). The drive along the track to reach the house is a bit daunting at first but you get used to it! Anyway you can walk to the excellent supermarket Ruiz Galan and all the restaurants. The beds are very comfortable and the showers all great. The upstairs blue-tiled bathroom is particularly lovely. The downstairs double bedroom is a bit difficult to air but we appreciated the fan and the bed is very comfortable. The kitchen terrace a wonderful place for family meals. Fantastic to have the utility room with washing machine and the extra courtyard for drying clothes. Clearly a lot of thought has been put into making this a spacious, luxurious place to enjoy a very relaxing holiday. Tip for local beaches: the best one we found was Playa de los Toros, pebbly and more cove-like than the rather featureless built-up beaches more common along the Costa del Sol. Good beach bar there as well and great for snorkelling among the rocks.

Fantastic extended family stay

We stayed at Finca la Luz for a month. We worked remotely during the weeks and explored Southern Spain on long weekends. It was the PERFECT long stay - super relaxing, impeccably decorated, and the views are absolutely spectacular! There was a major heat wave the first few days we were there but between fans and the pool, we were able to stay cool. The town of Gaucin has some fabulous restaurants with Ronda, Casares, and Sotogrande close enough to drive to for dinner. Communication with Jonathan and Kyri in advance was seamless and Erika, the property manager, was incredibly helpful. There are numerous hiking trails and outdoor activities. We didn't take advantage of the location because it was the middle of summer and quite hot, but the spring and fall are likely gorgeous. Several good beaches within 45 minutes but if you go during the summer, be sure to reserve beach chairs and tents in advance as they book up quickly. Really fabulous vacation! Can't recommend highly enough!

Lovely finca on edge of pretty village

Very clean, well equipped and well maintained finca with gorgeous views, on two floors with two lower levels one with a covered sitting area perfect for relaxing, and another down to the pool level. Gorgeous swimming pool with plenty of loungers and shade. Good terrace with dining table, looking out over the valley. The kitchen was very well equipped, better than is often found. Access from the village is along a stony track. Property is securely gated with good parking space. This was a really great find and we loved our holiday here and will definitely hope to return.
