A writer’s retreat, an outdoor lover’s paradise, a family escape, a beautiful reunion of friends, a nature-filled getaway with rafts and kayak included-- all within an easy drive to State College & Penn State!

Unplug, unwind, & sink into this peaceful cabin and its surroundings! Enjoy the solitude of nature while benefiting from all the luxuries of modern living. Located on ¾ acre, approximately fifty feet from the inviting banks of the Susquehanna River & the junction of Moshannon Creek, adjacent to the Quehanna wilds in Karthaus, PA, this is YOUR spot! A beautiful view of both river and mountains, a back deck on which to dine, read or enjoy your morning coffee, spacious windows overlooking the river, and ample opportunities for outdoor activities at your doorstep.

Our two-story cabin retreat is in a lovely, quiet setting, with adequate A/C units, a fully appointed kitchen, 1.5 baths, spacious living room with cathedral ceilings, exposed beams, indoor/outdoor surround-sound stereo to set the mood, a large deck with propane grill. Make yourself at home in all parts of this lovely cabin, the back deck, and surrounding river & acres of beautiful forested land.

Wildlife opportunities abound, including viewing deer, elk, & the occasional bald eagle soaring overhead. Located approximately 60 minutes from Penn State, 40 minutes from Benezette, 40 minutes to Bald Eagle State Park, this location can’t be beat.

Summer offers walks in the mountains on hiking trails, cooling off in the river, fishing, rafting, kayaking and canoeing-- all accessible from the cabin’s yard.
Fall offers a Penn State game on Saturday and perhaps a Sunday trek to Benezette Welcome Center to view spectacular elk (the largest elk herd in the northeastern United States). Hike trails, float in the river, & explore the Quehanna Wilds.

Awesome cabin with a great river view!

Booked for 4th of July weekend and was not disappointed! Cabin is nicely decorated and the owner Dawn is so thoughtful and made our stay so wonderful! Saw deer in the morning and brought tubes to float down the river which was so much fun! Thank you Dawn for sharing your special cabin with us!

Great place

Amazing place to stay for a family or group of friends. Quiet, peaceful and clean. The house has everything you need, the host is very friendly and helpful. Just keep in mind, that the service/Internet is slow, but sometimes you need that too.

My Family rented 4 cabins in Millers Landing for a family reunion of sorts. Dawn's cabin was by far the best and nicest place we had! It's a bit off the beaten track, but so worth it once you get there!

Lovely cabin

We enjoyed the relaxation of the nature all around us and the comforts of home in this lovely cabin. We spent some time looking for elk right in the local area and found many!

PSU grad weekend

What a beautiful and peaceful property. We enjoyed it so much. Location was off the beaten path but only 45-60 minutes from Penn Stare which was convenient and less expensive for graduation weekend. We would definitely stay again!

Our stay was absolutely fantastic Fully stocked with everything you need. This place was beautifully decorated clean and everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Visiting son at Penn State!

Had an amazing weekend visiting my son at Penn State for Parents weekend. The property had everything you needed including some board games that we had fun playing. Loved the views of the river, and the leaves were just starting to change color. Enjoyed our stay, thanks Dawn!!

This was hands down the best VRBO property I've ever stayed at. It was by far the cleanest, most beautifully furnished accommodation in the most gorgeous setting that I've ever been in. If it was possible, I would move in permanently. Chicken soup for the soul indeed.

Everything about this special hideaway was completely enchanting. A wonderful escape, set directly on an peaceful flowing river. The whole setting is magical. The cabin is immaculate and well-stocked with info on the area. Dawn checked with me via email shortly after my arrival to make sure all was well. My only regret is that I did not book more nights! A true gem!

Football weekend

We planned a family trip to attend the Penn State football game and all the hotels were booked in State College. This turned out to be a blessing because we found this wonderful cabin. The cabin is immaculately clean and the architecture is beautiful. The cabin comfortably slept 5 adults and one child. There is a wonderful view of the river and the area is very peaceful. We really enjoyed our stay here and would love to come back.

3 nights in the Wilds

Dawn communicated with us throughout our stay , being available for questions. The property was clean, well stocked, comfortable-a little piece of heaven! We saw and heard many birds including eagles and an owl! The cabin is very secluded in the forest but there are some people nearby. The only think that made me uncomfortable, was the road back to the cabin but I got more comfortable with that quickly!

Our Stay in Karthus PA

The property was and lodging were very very nice and well stocked with everything we needed. We did not know that it was the Elk rut season. There was a great viewing are close to the cabin. It is a great place to get away if you want some quite time. There are things to do in nearby towns 30-40 minutes away. I'm from PA, so already knew that it takes time on back country roads. You can't get to where you are going by how the crow flies. LOL We really enjoyed our time there!

Heaven on earth.

The peace, tranquility, surroundings & wildlife; no matter the weather, are pure bliss. The cottage itself is stunning, obviously loved and well cared for. Very clean, beautifully decorated, thoughtfully homey & very well stocked. You couldn't ask for more. Part of me doesn't want to leave a review because I'd like to keep this piece of paradise a secret. This cottage surpasses the pictures and descriptions once you walk through the door & step out on the deck overlooking the river. We didn't want to leave. All of the neighbors are friendly but not intrusive at all & Don, the gentleman next door, is a sweetheart with all kinds of info if you're interested (which we were) in the history of the area. Our host Dawn answered every and any question we had. She was most helpful. Check in and check out were a breeze. Her meticulous guest information book is a cut above the rest complete with directions from dining to elk viewing and more. Most important, the peace and relaxation that absorbs you within the sights and sounds of nature just can't be beat. Pack your clothes, stop for groceries & enjoy! Thank you so much Dawn. We can't wait to return!

Magical cabin on river

We had wonderful weekend in this magical cabin on river .just to wake up to this view and have breakfast outside enough to feel serene and dreamy .communications with owner was quick .house is very clean with comfy bed and small extras -snacks and spices . Beautiful place and marvelous host!

This is an special spot--especially on a gorgeous weekend like we had--cool and sunny! Super thoughtful hostess, lots of sweet touches. Dawn goes the extra mile! Very clean. My husband, our adult children, and I loved listening to the soft river sounds from the fabulous deck. The 15 minutes drive back the gravel road was the only drawback--but that's how you get to this incredibly peaceful and beautiful spot! Well worth it.

My husband was an Animal Science professor at Penn State and I am a nurse in State College, where we raised our two children, also Penn Staters.
