Travelling to Roccatederighi is easy, either by plane or by car. The nearest airport is Pisa, which is 1.5 hours drive, mostly by motorway. There are a variety of ways for driving to this part of Italy and all of them interesting and scenic routes, through France, Switzerland or Germany. If you would like to discuss some of these routes please contact us. Whilst there is no swimming pool in the village, there is a lovely pool set in wonderful countryside about 10 mins drive away. Also, very popular with our guests, is a scenic lake, set in peaceful olive fields, about 25 minutes drive away. Here you can swim in the clear, cool waters which are fed by an underground stream. Ask a questionAbout Chris Kennedy
I am a retired solicitor and my wife is a teacher. We have two sons in their thirties and we acquired the property when they were teenagers. After 16 years, we all still love the house and village
Chris Kennedy purchased this house in 2002
Why Chris Kennedy chose Roccatederighi
We came for a holiday to Roccatederighi in 2002 and fell in love with its beauty and uniqueness. We had no intention of buying a place in Tuscany but we were enchanted by the place and the people. We decided to look around to see if we could find a place suitable for our family. Our one criteria when we were looking at properties was that the property should have adequate outside space, good views and also be within easy driving distance of the coast and hill-top towns. We were therefore thrilled to find Casa dell'Artista with so much outside space, two terraces and a garden. We were very fortunate to find this unique house. Although it was perfectly habitable and an artist and his family were living there, we totally renovated it. We have continued to improve the house over the years.
What makes this house unique
One of the unique qualities of Roccatederighi is that it is a genuine Tuscan village, full of charm and life. The people are wonderful, friendly, helpful and genuinely kind. The uniqueness of the house is, without doubt its location and the astounding views, which extend across the Maremma plains to the sea and the islands of Elba, Giglio and Corsica. It offers peace and tranquility and yet in less than 5 minutes you can be in the heart of the village with its bars and restaurants. The Medieval character of the house is also unique. It has a history but is modernised and comfortable.
