About this property
renovated village gitte on a canal with views of the town square
St Berain sur Dheune is in the department of Saône-et-Loire in the region Bourgogne-Franche-comté, in the east of France. Live an idyllic French village life with this charming one bedroom gite on the canal overlooking the village square. A short walk to the general store, tobacconist, post office.
The apartment is fully autonomous and private. It sleeps 2 comfortably and is newly renovated with a fully equipped kitchen, double bed and en-suite bathroom and private courtyard. Parking is available at the front of the property. The village is small and picturesque, which makes it ideal to rest and rejuvenate with a glass of wine from one of the many wineries in the area or a short drive from St Leger to enjoy French eating on the channel.
The house is located 10 kms from the TGV station Le Creusot, 5 kms from St Leger with supermarket / shops / restaurants. Take a short drive or bike ride to the vineyards or a trip to the wine village of Mercurey. The village dates from prehistoric times and is the most recognized and most important wine village on the Côte Chalonnaise, producing more wines than any other village appellation.
Travel west on a scenic 30-minute walk to the historic townships of Meursault and Beaune for markets, fine dining and extravagance of wine. I recommend the hospice in Beaune as a must see after a trip to the markets
The Véloroute (cycle path) is an ideal way to immerse yourself in the vineyards. 35 km by bike in the heart of vineyards and heritage that will delight lovers of Burgundy wines and history buffs. As a couple, with family or friends, ride at your own pace and discover a different side of Burgundy! It follows 22 km of minor roads and vineyards used by vine growers and pickers. You will enjoy a tasty trip, punctuated through picturesque villages, continuously accompanied by the work of the vineyard. The cycleway is easy and means that everyone can enjoy the perfect alignment of the vineyards.
On the way, the wine villages of Pommard, Volnay, Meursault, Puligny Montrachet, Chassagne Montrachet and Santenay offer the possibility to stop in a restaurant or a terrace of coffee. Or perhaps you prefer to visit a Romanesque chapel, a castle from the time of the Dukes of Burgundy, or just enjoy visiting these villages of character. Arriving in Santenay, you can extend your journey by joining the central canal and the greenway along the towpath.
