The location and views from the property are spectacular. Black Mountain is a quaint little mountain town with friendly people, and it's close to Asheville too if you run out of things to do. We had a family reunion, and the house was large enough for us all to get together but to also have space to ourselves. Communication with the host was excellent. We had an issue on July 4th with the neighbor's dogs running free and onto the property at all hours, bothering us and our two dogs. We reached out to the host and even though it was a holiday, they responded very quickly and helped us talk to the offending neighbor. A note, however, once the road turns into gravel, it's tough to navigate with a low-riding sedan up the mountain. We wished we would have known that ahead of time. A 4-wheel drive, SUV or truck would be better suited for the drive up the mountain. Also, the house needs some repairs and maintenance, particularly to the outdoor furniture as well as the decking and ceiling fan. Other than these things, we had a wonderful time admiring the views, the quiet, and the occasional mama bear and her cub sightings!
