About this property

Bright, Cozy Apartment by Downtown & Train Stop; Great for Couples/Small Groups

No reviews of this unit yet but can see all of my other 5-star reviews here: vrbo/1397667

I have my comfy & cozy apartment with a rooftop deck and patio available for rent in the River West area, good for up to 4 people. Enjoy the comforts of the large king size bedroom, living room and dining room, as well as a fully stocked kitchen, plus patio & rooftop deck during warmer months. Right next to the Blue line L which runs underground and a quick trip to Downtown and hip Wicker Park/Logan dining, shopping & nightlife. Straight shot from airport.

This is a self check-in property and for security purposes, your key pad code will be sent to you the day of arrival in order to ensure there is no early or unauthorized entry.

The unit is located within walking distance to some great downtown restaurants or a short ride to Wicker Park and Loop dining, nightlife and attractions (approx. 10 min.) Relax in the unit after a busy day of sightseeing or shopping. Feel free to make full use of the kitchen. This is a pet and kid friendly home, but please be sure to let me know in advance.

There's an amazing cafe named Windy City Cafe very close if you want coffee or other breakfast items - an excellent brunch spot. You'll have exclusive and private use to the living room, kitchen, bathrooms and bedroom. The deck is shared with all units in the building. I'll have towels, soap, shampoo & conditioner, and a hairdryer in each bathroom. There's also a CVS around the corner in case you need to get anything that you may have forgotten. I have high-speed Wifi as well as Netflix, HBO Max, Paramount+ and other apps via the smart TV (no cable) if you want to spend some time indoors. Free laundry facilities are also available in the basement in case you need.

Please note that this is my personal apartment and has my belongings in them so please do not help yourself to any of them and respect my privacy. If you do not feel comfortable staying in a unit with someone else's belongings, you may want to seek an alternate place. I always ensure the place is fully picked up, cleaned and sanitized prior to guest arrival.

Nice location but TOO many personal belongings

To preface my review, I think this place definitely has the **potential** to be a 5 star stay. The location is phenomenal and the apartment as a whole is very nice. I really liked the TV in the bedroom since it was great to watch movies on it. However, this stay earns only 3 stars for the following reasons. First, when I arrived, Kam did not provide any directions on how to get into my apartment or where the apartment would be located within his building, even though I messaged him on VRBO a couple of times before I arrived for check in instructions. I got lucky that my friends, who were renting the unit above the one I rented, were at home so they let me in and gave me Kam’s personal number. However, once I texted Kam, he did respond promptly to it (although that was 1-2 hours late iirc). Second, the biggest disappointment to me with this apartment was that there were TOO many personal belongings in it. It felt like someone just stayed in it right before I came and it was not emptied out to my satisfaction. Here are a couple of examples: 1. The fridge and freezer were packed TO THE BRIM. There were so many items, including perishables like eggs (which remained there for 1.5 weeks as I stayed there) that were simply left behind. I didn’t even have 1 shelf to myself. This made it impossible for me to store stuff inside, which meant I was unable to stock up on groceries to actually cook at home. 2. In the bedroom, there were personal clothes scattered underneath the bed and a closet that seemed like someone just stuffed clothes within it (where it was overflowing and the closet remained open during my stay). This made it feel like I was literally living in someone’s bedroom for a week and a half, which is a very weird and unusual experience to have in a VRBO where you expect to have little to no personal items at all in the residence. This also felt rather unsafe during a pandemic, when you want to be extra cautious about being exposed to someone’s personal items. 3. The bathroom had many personal items, including a toothbrush (presumably owned by Kam) that was left behind on the bathroom sink. If it weren’t for the fact that I think Kam seems like a nice person who might be new to hosting this residence to prospective VRBOers, I may have considered giving less than 3 stars. However, all in all I did enjoy my stay here, although I don’t think I will be coming back to this particular VRBO in the future.

Well maintained clean and comfortable open concept apartment

I was impressed by the owner's clear communication style and clean and well prepared property. I loved my alone time on the little balcony in front and family time on the larger patio in back. I enjoyed cooking in the well stocked kitchen. The king bed was so comfortable and fit our family of three perfectly for Netflix and chill times. Overall this was better than I expected and I would definitely stay here again.

I'm a super chill guy that has been hosting for more than 6 years. I love meeting new people and helping people enjoy the city of Chicago. I love fitness, dining out and trying new places to eat and drink, streaming shows , quality music (all types), music fests, street fests, traveling, and creating amazing experiences and memories.

My intention is that my guests have the best possible stay and experience in my homes. I look forward to hosting you :-)

Why they chose this property

I bought this home over a year ago as a second rental building and to have my own private and personal unit in the building. It had the perfect mix of things between the rooftop deck, being close to downtown and public transportation, a patio to relax in during the summer, a quiet neighborhood that was close to anywhere I wanted to go for more fun and activities, but most importantly a simple private unit to myself. It's a bright, simple and inviting area and place and I know I wanted to be able to experience that...and now I hope that others experience it as well!
