This property has just received a major update under new ownership.

Very comfortable upstairs studio with a queen bed and fantastic ocean view. The kitchenette has a refrigerator, coffee pot, microwave, and induction burner. The dining table seats two. The dishes, cooking utensils, and linens are provided. The house is about a block from restaurants, gas stations, a post office, and grocery stores. There is a keyless entry. You will be sent your code before arrival.
This is a non-smoking property.
Kula Kai Caverns, Volcanos, South Point, and the Kahuku Branch of the National Park are close by.
South Point Suds is across the highway about a block away for any laundry needs, They have new washers and drop-off service if you do not want to stay and do your own laundry.

We loved our stay in Ocean View, the Pineapple unit. It had everything we needed, well-equipped for cooking, wifi, new air conditioning, even access to laundry in the other building, and a couple of geckos who were observing us as much as ww observed them. They were fun! I highly recommended this place for your stay in Ocean View!

Cute Little Place to stay with an Ocean View

We only stayed one night, but it had everything we needed. Great View, friendly hosts. Ate at Thai Grindz & More a local food truck just up the main road.

Nice place to hibernate

A lot of driving needed to see the sights on the Big Island, but it is great for "getting away". Private, quiet, wonderful bed, 75" TV, roomy shower. Close to a good restaurant, the grocery store, and a filling station. I really enjoyed my stay there!

Big Island

Couldn't sit on the couch due to it being dirty and full of ants. The refrigerator door didnt stay shut resulting in a dead gecko inside. The air conditioner didnt work, they did supply a new one, but didnt install it.The host did offer to move us to a different location so they could address the issues

Great value and away from the hectic resorts

Clean, good sized studio for two people. Great coffee shop nearby for breakfast, loved it. Jeff was quick to respond to any questions or issues we had. This place is a bit of a drive to some of the sites you may want to go to, but you can get away from the crowds at night and relax. Just FYI, the bathroom light over the sink is tied to the light switch by the bed…

Unique town and property

There was a snafu with the unit we had reserved, with someone else in it when we showed up. Owner immediately upgraded us to a better unit on the premises, so that was great. Well decorated, well equipped, and great little town. Ocean View seemed...weird...before we got there, but it is a cool, laid-back little village with lots of friendly people. And this Vrbo is just a few blocks from the main store and coffee shop, so that's convenient. Would stay again, definitely.

Better if clean

US$134 per night buys you:Studio (one room) not separate from bathroom (no ceiling no door). Uncovered balcony. Nice greenery surroundings. Bedsheet needs replacement, cover was inadequate for warmth in the early morning. I was charged a cleaning fee; at a minimum, that should've been refunded since there were gecko droppings on the floor, on all counters, on all windowsills and in the shower.... somebody is asleep at the switch.

Needs many repairs. A good cleaning. and revise the write up to reflect the features onsite. No grill. No hangers. No fire extinguisher. No deadbolt. Not clean. Paid 45 cleaning fee. Water not potable. Slow response from manager. Wifi and A/C broken. I had to fix Wifi. Little refrigerator in bad shape. Cabinets falling apart. Windows and sliding door have no locks. Rough.Shared the space with many Geckos. Maybe rate it a 4 or 5.

Peaceful and pretty

For my purposes, the place was almost perfect. Mine was a working trip. Quiet area with a beautiful view. Things that were a little off would only be the water pressure and the kitchen sink. Faucet is too short to be able to wash a dish without water running on the counter. The internet was ridiculously strong (except for a brief period after a hurricane, but what can you do?). Verizon cell service was 1 bar at best. T-Mobile has a better signal. For a short term stay for 1-2 people, there's plenty to do in the area for a couple days. If you don't mind a scenic drive there's lots more within 90 minutes. Overall, nice little get-a-way. Again, great for 1 or 2. The unit I was in has one bed and no pull-out or room so be prepared to sleep together

Great place to stay in Ocean View!

The host was fantastic! I had a little trouble checking in, but she was there lickety split to assist me. One thing surprised me (probably 100% my fault for not reading carefully), but I thought I was renting the entire house, when in fact it was just the upstairs room. However, the place really was great! Just a few things to be cognizant of: - _Pay attention_ to the map they send you. I did not, simply followed gmaps, and wound up at the neighbor's house. Adding to the confusion, the neighbor has the exact same door lock as this room, so it looked like I was in the right place. But the host was there quickly to help straighten things out. Try to check in during the day if you can. There are no street lights, that made finding things more difficult in the dark. - Again, 100% my fault for not really looking, but this place is off the beaten path a bit. Hawaii is bigger than you might think! If you have activities planned in Kona or Hilo, be prepared to drive (it's over an hour away from Kona). However, this was a great location for the green and black sand beaches down south, as well as volcano viewing (also just over an hour away). - My one complaint about the room, a dresser (or somewhere to put clothes) would be nice (altho not sure where it would fit). Living out of a suitcase gets a bit erratic as the days go on. But overall, great host, great place at the price point, certainly recommend!

Great location away from the tourists

This could have been a 5-star review but I believe that the things that knocked the stars down from 5 can be addressed and understood and also improved upon so while my experience had its interesting points I would rebook here in a heartbeat. Booked early on and was expecting to have contact from the property owner/manager the week we were planning to arrive but after trying to message and reach out with no success the day before we were to leave I finally called the listing's phone number and got the previous managers. Needless to say I was nervous to arrive without any details but he was gracious enough to send us what he always sent people. Fingers were crossed, we showed up and when it was about 3:30p.m. (check in at 4p.m.) we got a message that the unit was ready and the instructions then. This is why we only gave 3 stars, mainlanders do not wish to have details upon arrival. A few days prior to booked date is necessary for planning, easing the mind, and just having everything in order before the journey. Property manager was there when we arrived and was welcoming so all was good. We got settled in and relaxed for the night. The place has everything you need if you need simplicity. You are away from everything on the south end of the island and it is nice. Unit works off of a water catchment which we were aware of ahead so we knew how to handle water use and to be quick when showering even turning off the shower while shaving to conserve water. Got in late the next night and didn't have water at all. That was a little rough but we had bottled water, just could not flush the toilet. Sent a message to the manager at 1a.m., didn't expect a response but it was sent so it was addressed. Morning came still no response and no water. So I called and got the manager and they were on it then. Showed up and come to find out the unit below us blew the breaker for the pump so after some investigation they got us back up and running. Rough start but you talk about someone that wants to do right by you....the property managers sure were ambitious. It just seemed they were a little new at how to handle getting their guests information and need to update the listing (which as of 2/14/23 it is not. I can't give a 5 star review hoping the little things get fixed that were issues. The issues mentioned aren't small especially to the first time Hawaii traveler, which we are not...so hopefully they are remedied for the next.

We did not receive a code until late that night, waiting for a response from the owner! finally got into the place and there was dirty laundry on the floor in the bathroom and by the bed. The Bed was not made and the place was filthy! We spoke to the owner he said we could stay at another place he owned nearby. We went there…there were clean sheets on the bed, but the place was not ready…the floors were dirty and the place looked like no one had been there to clean for weeks. Plus the shower drain was so plugged up that it was a pond by the time you finished a shower and the shower floor was filthy! I would expect a refund so nice we were unable to stay at the place we booked!

Einfach aber Zweckmäßig

Einfache aber zweckmäßige Unterkunft. Ein bequemes Bett und eine gut ausgestattete Küche. Lediglich einen zweiten großen Kochtopf haben wir vermisstm sind dann aber bei Walmart fündig geworden und haben den Topf in der Unterkunft gelassen.

Clean Studio in perfect location

This was my 3rd stay at Da Corner House, this time in a different unit. Great views from this elevated studio. While it does heat up quite a bit due to the fact that it is the top story, a small window A/C unit helped to cool the place down efficiently. Everything was provided to make breakfast and the occasional dinner. The only thing missing was a small table on the lanai.

Pineapple Paradise

They recently renovated and it shows. The space itself is used really well, it's a studio that feels much bigger. Great location and scenery. Loved the decor! Nothing but good things to say about this place

Cute and cozy

We loved staying at the pineapple! The cozy studio apartment was perfect for two people. It was close enough to activities on the southern end of the island, everything we wanted was within about a half hour drive. Eating breakfast out on the balcony overlooking the orchard and ocean (and getting to see the little lizards) was so pleasant each morning. Overall a great stay!

Cute cottage with great views and nice amenities

Clean, comfortable, equipped with all necessities. Be mindful there are 2 main properties each with upper and lower cottages. We stayed in the Pineapple. There are shared grounds with nice gardens, hang out spots, grills, and a larger gathering area. Would be perfect for multiple families. The community of ocean view is small and the offerings by way of restaurants is limited and close rather early. However, these cottages have everything needed to cookout or prepare meals indoors. Good rates too!

Good option in Ocean View

I only stayed here one night, but overall, the place was nice - it was very clean, the decorations were cute, the location was good, the bed and couch were super comfortable, the wifi was fine. During my short stay, the only major issue I had was that the water kept cutting in and out while getting ready in the morning. (I brought my own water for drinking, but still needed to use the shower and bathroom sink in the morning). I tried to call the owners about it but they didn't pick up, thankfully the water only took a few minutes to come back on each time it went off. Other than that issue, the stay was quite good! :)

Old Hawaii Feel & Care

Poorly maintained structure and surrounding property. Drinking water source is questionable. Window screens are missing. But the Interior is nice (flooring & ceiling), cabinets are ok, bed & bedding comfortable, kitchen okay and wifi is good.
