Important: After you complete your reservation, you will receive a message from a company called Truvi. I use them to verify identity and fulfill county requirements. Once you are verified, you will be covered for up to $500 in accidental damage (excluding pet damage). So be sure to let me know as soon as something is broken! It won`t cost you anything. If it`s more than $500, you may also be covered, so don`t hesitate to let me know.

After that, you will receive our digital guest guidebook that you can add to your phone screen. It has lots of info about the cabin, including amenities, instructions, WIFI, safety info, expectations, and communication with the host. You`ll also find an entire Local Area Attractions section, so you`ll know where to eat, the best hikes, shopping, and day trips.

You are free to contact the host (Debbie) for anything that you can`t find in the guidebook.

Pine is a small mountain community about 100 miles from the Phoenix metro area. There is a quaint commercial area on the main highway, with shops and restaurants.
1. I`m ok with vaping outside away from open windows, but no cigarettes. Ever. Check with me about cigars. During dry summer months I will say no to all smoking. Our insurance won`t allow it and you`ll be fined if evidence of smoking is found.

2. No loud parties or amplified music at any time of day.

3. Only the guests who are booked may be at the house. If you want to have visitors, just let me know in advance. There may be an additional fee depending on the conditions. Large parties are not allowed, obviously.

4. You must register with Truvi for verification and accidental damage protection. You will receive an email from them after booking.

5. Please report any damage at the time it happens. You are covered! Either send your host a time-stamped photo or leave the broken item for us to photograph. That`s the last of your involvement. We`ll take it from there.

6. Add pets to your booking and don`t leave them alone in the cabin unless they are crated. Never leave them alone outside, even if tethered. There is a fee for up to two dogs. If you want to bring more than two, please contact host.

About the host

Host profile image
Hello! My name is Debbie, my partner is Dave, and we absolutely love this cabin and the whole Pine community. We have a home in Chandler, and we often block several days between guests to stay at the cabin. It's as much our home as our Chandler house, and we love sharing it.

I had two dreams for many years; one was to live in the woods, and one was to own a vacation rental. With this cabin, I've realized both dreams! I love the feeling when you are on the back deck that you are in your own personal forest, with elk, deer, javelina, squirrels, and birds coming to visit. I even saw a little gray fox one night.

We bought the house in the summer of 2019, enjoyed it ourselves for a year, and then started renting right in the middle of the COVID pandemic. I knew families weren't able to take vacations, people had been cooped up for months, so we decided to open our home and share it with people who badly needed to get outdoors and enjoy four seasons and the pine trees.

I try to get to know my guests a little before they arrive, find out what they love to do, learn about any special occasions or celebrations, and answer questions. You may get a phone call from me; I'll make it quick, I promise! I just want to have that human connection, and let you know that my number one goal is for you to have a wonderful stay.

Enjoy your visit to The Wandering Elk Cabin!

Why they chose this property

Since we live in the Valley but love the woods, Pine is a quick and easy getaway. Before buying this cabin, we rented other places in Pine. We learned what made a great vacation rental, and what made one not-so-great, and applied that to making ours the best we could make it. We love the charm of Pine, the people who live around us, and the beauty of nature.

What makes this property unique

You'll feel the love when you walk into the Wandering Elk Cabin. The first thing you'll notice is the huge chalet windows looking out to the ponderosa pines and juniper trees. Then you will notice how spotlessly clean and uncluttered it is, while still giving you that homey cabin feeling.

Next, you'll walk downstairs and see the comfortable sectional sofa, the ping pong table over the pool table, the comfy beds, the wet bar, the 65" Roku TV, and French doors going out to a covered patio and tree-filled backyard. You'll find outdoor games, a hidden picnic table, and Adirondack chairs circling a propane fire-pit.

Once back upstairs, you'll walk up another staircase to the Master bedroom loft. You'll step out the French doors to yet another deck, where some of the best star-gazing is found. The loft is stocked with more games, books, and a big reading chair and ottoman. When you are ready to sleep, you'll relax in the king-size Nova-Form bed with soft sheets and lots of pillows.

You'll never want to leave.
