About this property

Wandering Elk Cabin in Pine

This mountain home has 3 bedrooms and a king/full suite in the finished basement, 3 full bathrooms, a fireplace, 3 decks, and 2 living rooms.

When you walk in, you`ll be greeted by our soaring chalet living room windows looking out at the pine forest. It`s a wonderful room with a wood-burning fireplace, 65` Roku TV, lots of games and seating for your group. Off the living room is the main deck with lots of seating and a propane fire table. There are 2 queen bedrooms and a full bathroom between them. One of the bedrooms has a Roku TV.

The kitchen is on the main floor and is completely stocked with everything you need to make great meals. Everyone loves sitting around the large hand-crafted dining table that seats your entire group. In the summer there is outdoor seating for al fresco dining.

In the walk-out basement below, there is a big sectional sofa, a pool table and another 65` Roku TV. Around the corner is a sleeping area with a king bed and a full bed. There is also a wet bar with a sink. The laundry room is in the basement, with an additional refrigerator. From the basement, you can walk out the French doors to another ground-level patio with seating.

The top floor has the primary bedroom and a library loft, with French doors out to another balcony. The primary bedroom has a large Roku TV on a rolling stand to move to the foot of your bed for relaxing and watching movies.

Important: After you complete your reservation, you will receive a message from a company called Truvi, formally called Superhog. I use them to verify identity to fulfill requirements by the county. Once you are verified, you will be covered for up to $500 in accidental damage (pet damage excluded). So be sure to let me know as soon as something is broken! It won`t cost you anything. If it`s more than $500, you may also be covered, so don`t hesitate in telling me about it.

After that, you will receive our digital guest guidebook app that you can add to your phone screen. It has lots of info about the cabin, including amenities, instructions, wifi, safety and rules, and communication with the host. You`ll also find an entire Local Area Attractions section, so you`ll know where to eat, the best hikes, shopping, and day trips.

You are free to contact the host (Debbie) for anything that you can`t find in the guidebook.

About the host

Host profile image
Hello! My name is Debbie, my partner is Dave, and we absolutely love this cabin and the whole Pine community. We have a home in Chandler, and we often block several days between guests to stay at the cabin. It's as much our home as our Chandler house, and we love sharing it.

I had two dreams for many years; one was to live in the woods, and one was to own a vacation rental. With this cabin, I've realized both dreams! I love the feeling when you are on the back deck that you are in your own personal forest, with elk, deer, javelina, squirrels, and birds coming to visit. I even saw a little gray fox one night.

We bought the house in the summer of 2019, enjoyed it ourselves for a year, and then started renting right in the middle of the COVID pandemic. I knew families weren't able to take vacations, people had been cooped up for months, so we decided to open our home and share it with people who badly needed to get outdoors and enjoy four seasons and the pine trees.

I try to get to know my guests a little before they arrive, find out what they love to do, learn about any special occasions or celebrations, and answer questions. You may get a phone call from me; I'll make it quick, I promise! I just want to have that human connection, and let you know that my number one goal is for you to have a wonderful stay.

Enjoy your visit to The Wandering Elk Cabin!

Why they chose this property

Since we live in the Valley but love the woods, Pine is a quick and easy getaway. Before buying this cabin, we rented other places in Pine. We learned what made a great vacation rental, and what made one not-so-great, and applied that to making ours the best we could make it. We love the charm of Pine, the people who live around us, and the beauty of nature.

What makes this property unique

You'll feel the love when you walk into the Wandering Elk Cabin. The first thing you'll notice is the huge chalet windows looking out to the ponderosa pines and juniper trees. Then you will notice how spotlessly clean and uncluttered it is, while still giving you that homey cabin feeling.

Next, you'll walk downstairs and see the comfortable sectional sofa, the ping pong table over the pool table, the comfy beds, the wet bar, the 65" Roku TV, and French doors going out to a covered patio and tree-filled backyard. You'll find outdoor games, a hidden picnic table, and Adirondack chairs circling a propane fire-pit.

Once back upstairs, you'll walk up another staircase to the Master bedroom loft. You'll step out the French doors to yet another deck, where some of the best star-gazing is found. The loft is stocked with more games, books, and a big reading chair and ottoman. When you are ready to sleep, you'll relax in the king-size Nova-Form bed with soft sheets and lots of pillows.

You'll never want to leave.
