Family Vacation

My husband and 14 month old came from St Louis for a long weekend. I’m originally from Streator, and this location was the best in order to feel like a vacation and go to Chicago for a day, while still being close to see family. It has a true getaway feel, has the easiest access to the pool, great views, and lots of space. I know we will be back!

Potential

Pros - Beautiful location and kids had an amazing time skipping stones in the river. Con’s - the downstairs toilet ran so we had to turn the water to it off, the kitchen faucet wasn’t just a little wiggly (you could tilt it back and forth/side to side), and there was what appeared to be a whole load of dirty dishes someone had unloaded in the cupboard/shelves. Main bedroom bed was also very hard. (All were reported to property manager so hopefully no one experiences this going forward). We made it work, but it’s frustrating when you pay a good sum of money and experience so many negatives. Good potential though.

Thank you for your detailed feedback! We’re glad to hear that you enjoyed the beautiful location and that your kids had a blast skipping stones in the river. We sincerely apologize for the issues you encountered during your stay, including the running toilet, wobbly kitchen faucet, and the condition of the dishes in the cupboard. Your comments have been noted, and we truly appreciate you bringing them to our attention. Rest assured, we are actively working to correct these issues to ensure a better experience for future guests. We value your input and hope to have the opportunity to provide you with a much improved stay next time!

Overall, we had a fantastic time. We were trying to recreate the vibe of a vacation spot we'd been going to for over a decade in northern Michigan, that we couldn't go to this year, and for a first time visit it hit all high notes. Impressive! I look forward to a potential repeat visit. Everyone was very friendly and polite.

The property was easy to get to, the homes were all beautiful and the walking paths to see all of them, made a great outside adventure possible. The river and boats in the inlet were also a great backdrop both visually and made for good conversation amongst adults and young ones. We loved the experience, knowing that we had a lovely " home" to go back to any time of the day or night. The members of your team were conscientious, friendly and accommodating. Beth described the homes and it helped us so much as we had 2 young children with us and some of the homes would not have worked with them. Home # 7 fit our needs excellently.

Great alternative to hotel

My husband and I needed a place to stay for three nights with our pup. It wasn’t a vacation as we were both working however we’re familiar with heritage harbor and what a lovely resort it is and decided to stay at a cottage that was pet friendly versus going to a hotel. It was great having our own space with kitchen and baths and enjoyed our privacy and our peace and quiet. We’d love to come back during a warmer season so we can enjoy the boating and all of the outdoor recreation this area has to offer. The cottage was lovely and very homey.

Our family had a lovely time and made fun memories! We will be back to make more soon. : ) I liked all of the communications I received leading up to the stay. The emails, texts, and reminders for details of the stay were excellent. It was nice to have all the information on my phone to look back at. It was also nice to receive recommendations for things to do in the area, restaurants and more. I appreciated all of the details!

From the minute I walked in to the cottage, I didn’t want to leave. It is pretty, peaceful, and tidy. Everything that life hasn’t been for over a year for us! It was just what we needed. Thank you! I didn’t actually have to interact with anyone. I got all the check in information via email. We didn’t have any reason to contact the management. The staff that we passed in walking around were always smiling and friendly though!
